  1. Sean I think we're talking about the same unit and i can never keep the name straight.
  2. rshubuck: I just did exactly what you are contemplating over the winter. Kicker Yamaha 9.9 HT with the controls at the helm with the control king along side. I am pumped. My previous kicker was a tiller control at the back of the boat, which worked fine but fine tuning the throttle speed was always a chore especially in the wind. I spent many times turning the throttle and watching the depth raider for the response. One more project to wrap up and I'm the water. She's all clean and shined up and the cuddy is loaded. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we can shake her down over easter. One Word of caution, Control King does not have an application(bracket) for the new Yamaha 9.9 HT. They were awesome to deal with and sent me both brackets, niether one worked but with a alittle custom fab and some home made shims I'm crossing my fingers the install works ok.
  3. Looking for a 4ft boom for Big Jon Downrigger or two extensions. I have the pulleys already just need the boom. Let me know what you have?
  4. Z: What is the approx size of the "#2" eyes? I have a bunch just not sure what size your looking for?
  5. Just got word from my Old Man. He is too. Mark let me know when you want a check?
  6. I'm in! Is the entry fee person or per boat?
  7. Sean/ C&S Marine. The guy is awesome. He is in Vestal. He just turned my fathers Lund in and out in 3 days. Here is the info: 604 Vestal Parkway West Vestal, NY 13850-1439 (607) 757-2660 Ask for J.R. Mention my name John Sacco, he'll treat you right.
  8. Lake O and Seneca can both have attitudes when it comes to weather. Either one is a good choice. I would let the weather determine your destination. If you need a safe bet, Seneca would be one you should always be able to get out on if you run for the calmer shores. In the event mother nature sticks it to you, try the smaller fingers.
  9. Garmin GPS 392. Works great, I upgraded to Hummingbird Combo unit and don't need it anymore. Everything is included. Unit/ Mount/Wiring and Screen Cover. $75 plus shipping. I'm in Binghamton
  10. AC. As much as I love the finger lakes and fish them religiously. I even am in the process of purchasing a lake front cottage on cayuga. I think the bigger picture needs viewed. NYS is Flat Out Broke. We are cutting educational programs at our schools/ one of the most heavily taxed states in the US/ and yes I am a small business owner who many say is nuts for operating in NY. I say let them come- regulate the living heck out of them-Tax the piss out of them and let NYS be prosporous again. I think it the problem is not with the gas companies but the people who regulate them and keep on slapping them on the wrist. If they mess up- don't slap there there wrist instead cut off there arm. Let these big gas companies pay the taxes not always rolling them down to joe homeowner. And YES I am IN FAVOR of Natural Gas coming to NYS.
  11. If I piss my wife off she may jump on your boat and fish with you (probably with my boat keys in her pocket). Congrats on the boat.
  12. hey guys, I am definitely in this year. I think we should up the $$$. If we up the prize money and maybe offer some mid season prizes as well. another thought that might get a few more guys to commit (and would make my life and competitiveness a little easier). I understand the lake specific days, but lets give the option to fish the "other lake" with a penalty on weight. 10lbs fish counts for 5lbs. Just a thought. Lets also see if we can some more guys in. I can help out in any you need.
  13. Sounds Like you guys had a great trip. Keep that copper rod on hand all season. I run 400 and 500 way to much according to my wife, but you'll find days where when everything slows that rod keeps firing. I'm in the boat prepping mode myself. A few more hours of waxing and a quick touch up on the bottom paint. I am hoping for two weeks and she'll be in the water.
  14. Try big Jons otter boards. By simply moving the position of the knot in the "y" you get them to pull a lot harder. I run 400 and 500 copper on them and they pull fine. I lessen the pull in spring pulling mono and core. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  15. I have never tethered a rod but if your running wire your rod holder is as important as the rod and reel. I have heard a few guys say they almost lost the whole setup with cheap rod holders breaking . [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  16. Presently on TV would have to be Tred Barta. I can most definitely relate to much of the ciaos he has on his boat as I laugh and think that happened to me aswell. But I wonder what ever happened to Joe Ogdibean? And yes I probably butchered the spelling of his name. But as a teenager, I loved his show and still have numerous vhs tapes of his show. He was a no frills guy who fished in crappy weather/ rough seas and even fought the masses at the Black Hole on the Salmon River. He is probably 1/2 the reason I have the angling habit I do.
  17. Gary/Karen. It is tough for anybody to loose a pet and I know how you folks are, just like me, your pets are your family. Remember all the good times and even the "not so good times" that bring a smile. RIP Brutus. Brutus deserves to have a memorial t-shirt to be made in his honor. I would wear it proudly! Hang in there. John
  18. Not open as of last sun. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  19. Andy, i read your post and you beat me to addressing the topic. You also posted a more politically correct post then I would have. I have fished this lake for years and do everything I can to preserve the fishing for years to come. My two cents on this topic "if your catching and keeping illegal fish and your dumb enough to put your pictures on the web you deserve everything you get". And I will be the first one to drop a quarter to make sure they do get what they deserve. Common guys lets step up and be a steward to these lakes! Mower
  20. Finger lakes Marina (ford's) is open. Be careful going out between the break wall, I know in the summer that is shallower shoot then the entire marina. Be sure to leave $5 in her mailbox.
  21. C and S Marine in vestal has a really nice used sportcraft at the top end of your price range. Reason I know id he is selling on consignment for me. Rigged for fishing! Ask for JR tell him John sent you.
  22. I have a few made by lure jensen. I don't fish them - they are in the "taking up space box" on the shelf.. I have a hard time selling fishing stuff. Catch me on the Lake sometime. I'm pulling the boat into my shop tomorrow morn after I run to Watkins and spend a few $$$. Hopefully get her all shined up.
  23. Dave from r&r has those blanks and smaller ones. Just an fyi [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
