  1. Many many questions I have a cable steered outboard. I have seen new lowrance for cable steered boats for 2k and I do use a kicker so contemplated the tr1 but 2500 is a lot. Any others for cable? My question should I just bite the bullet and get a hydraulic upgrade and go with the many options for hydraulic steered boats? The new lowrance hydraulic steered autopilot is 1k and looking at bay star steering is 550 so that would be cheaper than going with the 2k cable steered unit. Last question is that would I run into trouble with running auto pilot on main motor with hooked to kicker? Is it strong enough to push the kicker? Anyone around rochester that is a dealer and do the installs that you could recommend? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Got my power cables replaced and were under warranty. I believe cannon wants everybody to get rid of those! I would call screwy Louie's and see if you can get upgrades for free!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Quite a few johnson cowlings on eBay. Not exact year and hp but any idea if the latches changed over the years? Not sure if you could just buy one and use the latch if it's close. Some just latches in this search as well http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Johnson+9.9+cowling&isNewKw=1&_pgn=1&epp=24&itemId=&isRefine=true&mfs=GOCLK&acimp=0&sqp=johnson+9.9+cowling&_trksid=p2056088.m2428.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xjohnson+9.9+cowling Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  12. found a merc manual for 1729 plus tax and electric for 2149 too
  13. So i want to get a long shaft kicker. I have a couple options and hopefully get some other opions Brand new: 2011 8hp honda - manual start 5 year warranty 8amp charging unit 1920.00 plus tax 2013 9.9 Yamaha - manual Start 5 year warranty, no charging unit 2113.00 plus tax 2014 8hp Tohatsu - electric start 5 year warranty charging unit 1800.00 delivered to my front door. (factory direct) used 2012 9.9hp mercury electric start with roughly 25 hours. charging unit 1500.00 -so my concern about tohatsu is there a few and far between dealers and sevice if i need it. I know bayside on i bay services tohatsu but i also think he is out of business or on his way out. since they are the same as a merc will a merc dealer work on them? - good prices left over on the honda's and yammys but is a warranty and the quality of the japanese motors worth it? - i was also told that even though the honda has a charging unit it doesn't work, only if it has electric start it works. is that true that only electric start kickers provide the charge to the batteries. So what would you do?

  17. you guys think i could run a trollmaster or a controllking with out buying the helm controls on a control non tiller?
  18. Ah yes power tilt and trim which the ones I have found does not have either. I was thinking I had to go to the back to put it in the water so what's the difference if I had to start it there too Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Looking for a long shaft kicker and I have been looking for ones with controls at helm. Most outboards I have found with controls are significant more expensive than tillers. Shouldn't I just buy a troll master and pair it with a tiller because of the adjustability and start my kicker at the back of the boat? I have a fishmaster so it's not like it's out of reach.. What other benefits am I missing of having controls at helm. Also found a 9.9 no tiller with pull start no controls... I could just add a troll master to that and not buy the controls correct? 22. fyi I went with 8 inch with a 8.5oz weight but may move it up in weight. It really helps a lot.
  23. Look to a b stinger or something that has the weight all the way at the end. The engineering behind it states that positioned like this it acts like a target stabalizer. You do get some funny looks because it looks like a table leg.. haha but the deer dont mind!
