  1. Oh yeah boys!!!!!! That's the way to put some gold in da boat, send some over my way, too much silver here, ha!
  2. Spoon bite still lewis, greens, oranges, reds. Honestly don't think it matters to much cause when you find them they are agressive. Speed at ball 2.4- 2.6.
  3. A boy and some silver! Took a young boy out this morning that was eager to fish, after a tough couple hours of battling weeds and adjusting depths we locked up and the battles began. He learned quick and was rewarded for it. Cores started the action with copper and riggers to follow later in the morning. Temp went deep and the break was below 55ft. Good day for a slow start, finished with 7 bows and a couple lakers in the zone........and a happy boy to boot.
  4. Ran center up north, east side down south......bait is scattered, troll till you find it, covered 90ft out to 150 and back just zig zaging till I found a good screen. Maintain your lines, weed debris all over, and would find its way on my baits. Good luck.
  5. No gold, but Silver and bronze! Got out with a buddy this morning and tried to find the zone after these windy days, took a bit but adjusted back up above 40 ft and found some, riggers good today with copper and core only giving up bass and small browns. Had one triple on bass that was fun with a rainbow hit when we landed the third. Messed up the copper but after 20 minutes i got it untangled. Overall 3 for 4 on bows, 2 browns, 5 smally's and 4 lakers. Good morning but blustery!
  6. Hey semperfi, could have been the weather too. Know it was nice, but I had real slow fishing on owasco yesterday too. Have had a real good silver bite going and it all but stopped for me.......even bait disappeared, many areas blank......caught little lakers, up high, and when I catch them and no larger ones, I know something is up with the weather. On a second note......temp has been real deep in my lake, in one area the break didn't show till I was down past 55 feet. Hard northwest blow aught to muster something up.......give it another chance, that lake has big fish in it.......try to target rigs up high....35-40 ft down with free sliders, you might get that surprise big brown or rainbow....or bass. usually I'd say be patient cause upper column fishing can be slow.......but it sounds like lower column fishing was slow......good luck
  7. Awesome fish man!......you know me, something about the tranquility of night bud, and an explosion on a big stick........it's almost here. I'll reach out in a few weeks and we'll hook up and get ready for fall. I know you said the open water eye bite was slower,......experienced that here too.......early season was good on a crank troll........shore bite the few times I got out was good.........and the suspended fish are there for this summer bite but I haven't targeted them as the time between bites would be even slower than the silvers. Talk to ya soon.
  8. Owasco fellas, sorry, put in in the title and not the report.
  9. Noticed them heavy on owasco the last 2 weeks also. Knowing how much they eat, the state is gonna have to release fingerlings under the ice......pending we get any.........its gonna gonna be the only way young stocked fish will survive from them and the Eagles.
  10. Started in front of your place Alex, weeded up over there on Sunday, went down the lake on your side were you got that tournament winning walleye a couple years ago. Found the batch there, put everything just above the temp expecting lakers due to the depth, but got a good surprise. My program from last weekend wasn't working, made some adjustments and got into them.......the lul in between bites was long sometimes but like I said......once you find them, reduce the rod set ups and turn and burn to go back through them......found them on both shores. A few times I wanted to drop into the laker zone just to get some action.......but I have been hard headed on figuring out these bows this year and the time spent is paying off.......copper and core has been key, I use the fish hawk TD after I find depth on the main probe......this helps me put the copper and core just above it.......standard drops with core and copper don't apply with increased speeds for bows. Set up is lengthy but worth it when the board screams back behind the boat. Greens still working for me.
  11. That's an awesome lock, congrats!
  12. Ha ha ,yeah Justin I know.......but hey, won't be long.....finish your charter season and we'll have a fun fall! I do miss walleye fishing.....but this has been a nice break though.
  13. Another great day of silver! Took my son's buddy out today and had a good silver bite again. Temp still down below 50 feet. Yesterday's spot weeded up on us, got sick of pulling weeds, on the Brite side, fleas gone. Cores and copper did it again today. 7-11 on bows.......no jumpers at all, temp has got um a Lil lazy, they'd come out of it to hit and wanted back down. Couple small lakers up in the zone. Great weekend again.
  14. Owasco 8-26-17 Morning troll not bad, few silvers, plenty of lakers.....fish from last week went deep. Temp was still 72 down at 40! Buddy had fun, 3 bows, 6 lakers, and the magic perch!!!!## cores and copper still doing the damage.
  15. Lmao!!!!!!!! Amazing how bright it was with 75% coverage, had a buddy out and getting skunked so far.......crazy!
  16. Know those lakers are big when they have wrinkles on their necks, here us a good one I got a couple months ago......and that walleye is awesome alex.....I'd give all those silvers up for one of them!!!!!
  17. Great story man, he will never forget that!
  18. Got to be patient for silvers.......bites are fewer than in the laker zone.......run high all above 40. Adjust your core and copper to 40 and above and get them on boards away from the boat. Small spoons in greens and yellows doing it for me......again be patient, fished over an hour before the first bite, but when you find them reduce your set up to a minimal spread and turn and burn.......keep going through it cause there is usually more than one and they will be aggressive till they move on out of your gps path.
  19. Silvers!!!!!!!!!! Took a buddy out this morning hit the silvers good, it's the time of year. Cores and copper on fire ! Good morning, 4 for 5 on good bows, 1 small brown, 1 good high laker, and a couple small mouth. Fish on boys!!!!!! Back on the water after a month long hiatus!!!!!!
  20. I know this is vague Tman, but every spot you just mentioned had people and fish being caught, stopped at all 3.
  21. Nice catch Tman!!!!!! Agree with rumblefish on the salmon river comment , that shore was lined with cars......traffic and conversations going into the wee hours of the morning, but the fish were responsive and if ya get away from the people you have your own little pod to yourself......nothing like surface hits man!.....other shore was crazy with boat traffic........definately the most people I have seen on that lake including shore and boat fisherman in a long while..........hope everyone had success.
  22. because these fish eat alewife, when you fillet them you need to take off the red meat along their lateral line. That red meat is very oily due to the alewife diet. if you leave it on they will taste fishy. trim the red meat off so it is just a nice white fillet and you will enjoy them, no matter what size.
  23. Point taken bada bing, but I assure you it released fine. I have a fishery background.....and no way to hold a fish is good...hand under the gill plate,...deadly.....hands on removing slim coat, deadly.....6 of 9 hook points in the mouth, deadly......I can keep going. ....ultimately it is stress and lactic acidosis that takes a big fish. Water was cold, fish caught shallow, a allowed it to revive in live well for over an hour with a great aeration. Fish remained upright, active, and quite lively, as for internal bleeding.....that's all your call....did my best with facts of good fish mangement and experience to back it up........good luck to you this season, and I will remember to do better holding fish.
  24. Big laker today Fishing wasn't great today but put a big laker in the boat, took the planer board under. Put my neighbor on the rod and the battle was on......took alot of great runs, came to the net at 34 inches and bouncing just over 17lbs on the bogo. Biggest laker I've put in my boat on this lake. We released her to fight again...state released fish with left pectoral fin clip......good day on water. Was truly a day maker!
  25. Alex, you sure it wasn't my spoon!!!!! After all, we do think alike......but seriously.... I broke on 2 good bows in that area the last 2 weeks, all that jumping and running. they have been swallowing them, and the teeth have been crushing my lines, been re-tying after each encounter. Great story, as I said to ya this week end.......Dialed in.
