  1. Fleas, fleas, fleas......horrible.......wind shifted 3 directions in 2 hours, opposite blow from yesterday, mixing things up a bit. Ran copper and cores this morning.....no big silver, all skippers, bass still making it fun though, and going deep is producing Lakers. Temp still good between 50 to 60, north was 55-75 down......just gotta keep pounding it till I find them again.
  2. Way to go man, luv those aggressive locks.
  3. 50-60 all spreads, top rods took no hits.....and Alex, thanks for the shout out, hope all is well......usual spots out in front of your place is producing.
  4. Fleas back bad with hot weather, pulled riggers out, put out the TD, temp good 50 to 60, adjusted copper and cores. We got a few, couple silver, bronze and Lakers, radar looks ugly, cut it short, fun quick trip for my buddy with the big smallies, thought we had good silvers on.....screamin bronze backs though, ...no complaints! Fun.
  5. Congrats, those airborne bows are awesome........i can always count on them finding and tangling in my leadcore, and the big ones almost always do.......they know what they're doing for sure.
  6. Fished hard with a buddy on owasco, checking out usual spots resulted in fish, but many fleas too......brought the copper and cores.....but they wanted the riggers today. Lost 3 good bows leaping and coming unglued, including a hammer that stayed on the surface after he broke me, chased him down as he looked like a shark on the surface, but as i approached with the net......she slapped her tail at me an was gone.....oh well. caught many little bows with 2 doubles on slider and terminal spoon.....that was fun trying to land them.......all in all good day with mixed bag of bows, small browns, bass and lakers.......fleas came back bad though
  7. I've ran into the same thing, took off snubber off and went to 20 pound mono......a little more stretch but I still get break offs on violent strikes......that's the problem sometime with wire, core and copper.........not a lot of stretch.....hard to keep them on sometimes, love watching that dipsey hit though, especially when silver is hitting those sets.
  8. Nice job, hey at least you got a workout reeling 600 copper for the day........I get my exercise on 300's.......can't imagine a ten pound laker or bigger on a 600! Makes the forearms burn
  9. Owasco, yes the fog was crazy.....fun though.....yes the bass hit the core.....I released it, was a big smally.. Put a lot of time in to figure it out.....some guys go out and do it all the time....I have to work at it......and I do, feels good when it comes together .....still doesn't beat catching big walleyes though....
  10. Took a friend out today, got in the zone I found yesterday, didn't get third rig out and we had a taildancer behind the boat. Nice female bow, jumped 6 times and threw the hook, can't believe with 77 degree surface temp that she had anything left after 2 leaps.......reset and it was on, a nice mixed bag with cores and coppers king up high. First time this fella was trolling and he got spoiled, told him it wasn't always like this and that I put a lot of time in yesterday to find it....great day though, he is hooked!
  11. In the blue box title.........owasco
  12. Started off slow......a few Lakers, took about 4 hours to find......hit the zone and core starts screaming......circled for the next 2 hours, got a limit of bows, caught a bunch of small browns, and a few more lakers.....silver is there, stay true to your zone and when ya find them, rods will fire!
  13. They keep getting fatter bro, can't wait till fall when they got shoulders and the feed bags on.....congrats on your hard work, it is paying off for you.
  14. Hey Justin, freed up now, baseball over, time to hit it with ya, was good to get back on the water.....i was in those browns when ya called.......keep me in the loop on that tiger.....got fish coming in and want to get that one going asap due to the size.......ih yeah.....small bows and some good double digit Lakers again today.
  15. Back after a long hiatus. Hit the water looking for bows, laid out the coppers and cores, and a few riggers.......good news is the fleas are minimal......slow start then hit a flurry of 14-16 inch bows, looked to be all same year class, all came on cores......found a sweet spot and the copper fired with a nice brown, followed by another copper firing with another good brown........circled spot few mire times and only took small bows and browns, ........took a break, hit it again at around 5, had my son and his buddy working small ones then a shallow, yes shallow rigger fires and my son's buddy was fighting a heavy fish for about 35 minutes......ended up being a beast of a laker.....(were was this guy during the tourney), anyway a great memory for him, and i had no net.......good times......fish are there......great screens produced nothing and blank screens took hits.......all in all great trip out.
  16. Nice job boys, love that big northern, thanks for the report.
  17. Outside of the fillet you have to trim, many of the finger lakes walleye consume primarily alewife, which are an oil rich bait fish. Walleye eating them will form an oil line which must be trimmed off in order to get your white fillet and make them taste like they should.........also if you catch one that has orange colored flesh this time of year, usually on males.....it tends to be from the spawning process up in the creeks, the rolling and battling with other males causes internal bruising. Your pic looks like out side of fillet......just trim and eat.....if you don't, it will taste fishy. Hope it helps.
  18. Yeah, everybody.......just like the shipping post in terms of expense........the check in the mail process can be difficult too.........it takes a few days to get a check......and my bank takes 3 business days to clear it, which will be this Friday........once that is all done, I will ship , and tag the post as "sold"...........so PaP I am keeping up with my post, but thanks for your comment. Kevin

  21. Fished owasco, found not much bait up north, came back down, set up east side, found bait in 90-120...........set them high....couple smaller silvers.........but slow even for them this time of year.......but the bait not in its usual spots this fall.
  22. Ahhhhhh the good old Alewife, a great prey species but a vicious predator, however recruiting yoy walleye due to alwife predation doesn't mean that walleyes aren't successful in their spawn process.......it just means the only way will get a year class is if we have a down year on alwife population. Amazing that walleye existed in good population prior to Alewife being introduced into owasco, but yet the state treated a species that existed like a problem because people stopped catching trout.........let's just put more lakers in there and then make the smallmouth or northern pike the next scapegoat when people can't catch rainbows and browns. I caught 2 walleyes that were 18 inches out of there this spring, with that forage base and the last stocking in 2007.......I would think those fish would have been bigger at age 10.....there is hope for us walleye guys......maybe.
  23. Great day, love those needle fish. Congrats.
