  1. 12 ga is fine. Your accessories amp requirements will be written on their bodies, someplace. Biggest draw will be bilge and live well. Your O/B will have a main fuse under the cowling and cables go directly to the battery or a Perko type switch. FWIW, I recommend installing a 30amp breaker switch fed from the battery, feeding your switch panel at the dash. That way you can shut your dash and accessories down with out disconnecting the battery or losing power to the O/B.
  2. Lower the price in acceptable increments each month until you receive some attention, then hold.
  3. The biggest Ninja's are what you want. They work well.
  4. Agree with Gambler..Nothing about any of the synthetics is a good idea. Heavy, slick, and hot under foot. Concerning the Marideck, I used Nautolex which is basically the same. They both work best with outdoor carpet adhesive layed down with a notched trowel.
  5. Cleaners like.. toilet bowl cleaner, 409, or actual hull cleaners, I use for algae stains. Hardwater stains can generally be removed with a wash and dry. I wipe down my OB with a Wd-40 throughout the season for a spotless finish.
  6. I was just east of Chippewa that same week and saw the same.
  7. Thank you slayer. That's not as bad as I expected. I have a bud at work who already pulled his docks at Henderson. So..I thought. It was much worse. Thanks again!
  8. Just another option to consider... For just a bit $ more than the P66, I purchased a refurbished 7" Lowrance Elite with 50/200 that also networks with my Motorguide TM.
  9. Can anyone offer a water level report down around Pecos and Millens Bay? Heading up in 4 weeks for my annual fall perch trip and last year, the local launch closed due to low water. I'm assuming it's even worse this year.
  10. Regardless of manufacturer, Outboard or Inboard. Nothing in between!
  11. If you haven't done it, schedule a trip with a Charter for yourself and your boys. Most are very willing to offer information and advice on getting started. Myself, I suggest you get used to the boat and what it needs for now. Then start in the early Spring with Browns. I also suggest CL and FBMP for used tackle. You don't have to spend a fortune to catch fish. The boys will have a blast, regardless.
  12. The Gt54 isn't really the best for deep water. It's really for structure fishing geared towards much shallower water. You could try switching it out to a Gt21 or maybe a Gt 23 with a cable adapter. You will have to check the Garmin web. Most switch to an Airmar P66.
  13. Not sure where you're located. .Martin Engine Machine (formerly Farmer Engines) in Webster NY has a good rep.
  14. Slipped there in the 80's. It was a give and take kind of deal. Ideal location and slip fees were reasonable with a good bunch of guys. Biggest issue was the narrowness of the channel allowing only one boat to pass, sometimes creating a bottleneck. The overhanging branches were starting to become a problem and the Parkway Bridge was a pain as well. Generally rods were ok but antennas mounted on HT's were not. A lot of us were running outriggers then which made it a real PITA. Also, a good rain would turn the launch into a skating rink. But Im sure that will no longer be an issue. I hope it works out. It was nice quiet out of the way kind of place.
  15. Doubt seriously you will ever find information that specific. Wire color is set by the industry but that's about it.
  16. You could go with Motorguide to pair with your Lowrance.
  17. If you post a pic, Im sure someone can tell you what you have.
  18. I had something similar. They worked but they were extremely heavy being all stainless and the base did not fit typical tracks. Some grinding, filing, and sanding worked. Upgraded to Milleniums after 2 seasons.
  19. I believe NY only requires that NY residents take the course. Also check with PA..if you have the certificate from the CG class, it may satisfy their requirements. In most cases, it would in NY.
  20. Hard to say as transoms were always rated for HP, not weight. Originally maxxed for a 140hp 2 stroke Johnson. I think they weighed around 340lbs. Your diamond plate floor effects your hull capacity more than transom.
  21. Been doing this for so long, it's hard to get away from sticks for browns...especially in skinny water. Then I remember how we use to fish the piers in the spring with Cleos and small Suttons. Thanks Matt!
  22. I would have to go back to the ESLO days to ever have to worry about being that close to somebody.

    DEC

There is a lot more at play here that lead to the way DEC responded. That's where the problem lies.
