  1. I am surprised your able to text with the lakers slime on your fingers.
  2. Has anyone checked on the baby ducks and fingerling pike? I am fairly concerned.
  3. I would suggest water level markers at all marinas and just make phone calls. You could have Marina operators submit pictures of water levels against water level markers on sea walls. Lots of real time data that doesn’t require buoy data or computer/math projections.
  4. I am not sure what the IJC was looking at when they say they were looking at Lake Erie levels and were worried? Lake Erie is down two feet from what I could tell from Saturday.
  5. For your braid downrigger cable, just wrap the braid twice around the terminal swivel then improved clinch knot. For an added sense of security, I tie an overhand knot in the tag end and burn the end. The burnt end would stop catastrophic slipping and losing your gear. Saves money on termination but only if you tie the right knot lol.
  6. Beautiful class of 14-16” perch this year on Erie.
  7. Great idea for an event! I am sure this will grow to something much larger. Thanks for representing the fleet for a good cause.
  8. Nice work gents. I decided I wanted fish fry so I stayed off Lady O.
  9. Ha! Glad you got your head straight about mining silver! It was opening day for kings this weekend. Let the fun begin!!
  10. After looking at the picture a second time (when I am not bouncing around in waves), I would lean towards juvenile Atlantic
  11. I need a blue pill for my brain.
  12. Looks like a brown
  13. All fish caught on R&R Kodiak Wobbler mags.
  14. All the lakers you want right now. Average size is crazy. Kings just starting. First signs of bait coming into the Niagara flow. The water inside 30’ still sucks.
  15. I think the baitfish assessment this year will warrant a return to “normal” stocking levels.
  16. I have a suspicion that a lot of fish have followed the smelt run into the Niagara system.
  17. My take is the reversing effect on currents with the resulting changes to water temp and oxygen levels. The fish don’t leave the lake (obviously) but pelagics can get pushed clear out into the next county. I used to stay home during East winds out of frustration. Now I have a few spots I go to to fish in an East wind. Keep in mind the large outflows are carrying oxygenated, warmer water that can have a stabilizing effect so sometimes it is best to find where the river water is hanging out.
  18. The currents are at a different level of power compared to the fingers. Yes, you can look at downrigger cable angle or dipsy rod bend or the thump of a dodger with a drop weight but each spoon has a sweet spot where a triggering action happens. It might be the difference of .25 mph. You are not going to be able to accurately measure a .25 mph difference by looking at your dipsy angle. One of the reasons flasher flies had grown in popularity over two decades is that speed becomes less critical compared to a spoon presentation.
  19. Wrong! Cost savings in gas will pay for the unit because you will limit out sooner. At least that is what you tell the wife!
  20. https://www.michigan-sportsman.com/threads/video-showing-effect-of-underwater-current-on-lure-action-while-trolling.572991/
  21. I vaguely remember catching Atlantic Salmon
  22. Nice Atlantic! I would have shoved the stomach contents from the Atlantic into that King’s maw and let it grow to respectability. He clearly hadn’t followed his king brothers to the bottom of the lake because the basin bottom is crawling with smelt and alewives. I graphed the water between 390-450’ off Olcott on Saturday looking for suspended fish but everything is plastered to the bottom.
