  1. We stared at Braddocks at 6 yesterday mornning, and made it out to 40ft. When I looked back and saw the GF clutching the side of the boat and looking a bit green. SHE thought it a bit wavey. We decided it too nice a day to throw in the towel and decided to go to Conesus and catch a walleye or two. After a little break at home, I hooked up the "Lady Bluegill" and we were off. Never did find the Walleye, but we got our first Conesus Tiger Musky and she reeled in a nice Northern too. Didn't measue or weigh them, just wanted to take a quick pic and return them to the water. I'm guessing they were both about 35".
  2. where i was the same thing happened but it was the cold water ripping in that ended my day. setup off braddocks in 40 fow with around 60 on bottom and the thermocline just outside it . tthe screen was filthy of bait and fish. got 3 browns....around 4,8 and a solid 11 pounder...which the g.f. reeled in and i shoulda weighed in but released...she's still a little ticked  also a decent bow and by 9 the screen was blank everything was gone and the temps dropped to cold to fish.the fleas were horrible, gonna have to do something about that, even the dipsy with wire was loadedup with about a foot of slime above it.i'm wondering if it was the snubber collecting it?
  3. go anyway. it sounds like you planned your limited free time around it so go and fish and meet some new fishing partners..play cards drink beer and have fun.you're all probably entered in the l.o.c. summer derby anyways so at least your still in a derby. who knows maybe fate will get you a 32 pounder....
  4. i think you're right. i kinda was free spooling them to get 240 out quicker and was thinking that might be it. that current tho is something i've never recalled seeing before.the 2 bigger kings ripped out around 450 ft. then just layed down deep with the current and with the boat moving east and with the waves i figured them to be bigger! lot's of fun. wish i could be back out again tomarrow.
  5. hi scott....think you might be right about that current and the browns. did go out of braddocks yesterday and today. tons of bait along the bottom in 70 to 75 fow and i wasted alot of time in there even tho i knew the 64 degrees might be a bit warm.moved out to 80 to 110 where the temps were good but only managed small fish. finally around 11 today i moved it out to 140 to 170 and got 2 kings about 17 lbs and a couple small ones by 1 p.m. when i quit. temp was good around 80 down. downriggers did little and the same dipsy was hot. ran white spin drs. and no see um flies on everything the only difference was a 4 ft lead vrs. a 7 ft lead. my big problem was that huge undercurrent movingeast to west. my lead kept wrapping up in front of the dipsy and what a bear to try and bring in. think it was happening on the turns. the longer lead was worse. anyone else notice that current or experience that problem? don't fish out there much in the summer but never had that problem in the fall before. anyhow the best fish and action came off the lighthouse just before i quit.
  6. you're the best ray. too funny too bad the "muskybobs summer vacation" had to end. i was always looking forward to the next episode!
  7. only been there once. about a month ago. think you went by and we yelled back and forth about not getting or marking anything. normally i don't start there till now. next couple weeks will be lake o. and dunkirk then i'll start hitting it. sept. has the been the best month for me the past few yrs. especially on the bigger ones..i just fish the deeper water on the north half.....don't know the south half too well.
  8. thanks for heads up on the temps. haven't been out since the spring derby at niagara. going out of braddocks in the morning and like to start inside for the browns. it gives me a starting point. appreciate the report.
  9. nice pics and fish. never knew canadice to hold smallies and picarel that size. how's conesus been treating you lately?
  10. 600 ft . of copper out. planer boards out 50 yards both sides. red can..spring derby. geez i thought everyone was waving at me because they were happy and liked me.
  11. nice pics of the boat, tom. still looks like new. great top.shoulda kept it.
  12. thanks for the info on the dipsies. it all makes sense and i have never had it explained like that to me before. with the 20 foot lead i thought maybe you guys down there like to hand line them in at the end. kinda like a throback to the seth green days.
  13. hey ray....i'm a little confused and maybe that's why i don't like running dipsies when the fish are more than 90 ft. down. i run my dipsies at 3 setting which i thought was 1 down for every 3 out on the counter. now if the fish are near bottom in 120 how does the 2.5 work? i will admit i'm not a mathamician or even a plummer. . also how do you guys net fish with a 20 ft. lead. i only run my spin drs. 5 or 6 back from the dipsy on lake o. never gone for lakers on seneca before so maybe things work diferent there?
  14. hi ray...see you already got a p.m. on it but if still looking can do. live in greece near lake so the oaks just a short trip down the parkway. don't know if you entered the fri. prefishing derby last week but i would be interested in that if you're in this week. never observed and don't know much about it but sounds like i would need to be there friday anyways. am already in summer l.o.c either way i hope team L.O.U.S.E.R.S. the best of luck.......mark
  15. good point.bunch of it floating around on honeoye yesterday.had to peel off a small ball of it now and then.good question tho. don't fish lake o. as much as i use to but when i do it can be a big pain later in the year. surprised i have any rod tips left on my poles from slapping them in the water so much.
  16. does the pro am have a web site where you can find out info as far as the point system, how many you weigh in each day and how many places are paid. have an idea how it works but would be nice to know all the details.
  17. thanks for the tourney update y.t. even tho on the sidelines it's interesting to follow. sounds like you had a good day and are in the runnin. if you get the am. results post them also. kinda curious on how team L.O.U.S.E.R.S. made out. must of been a bit bumpy out there today....good luck tomarrow, hope you have a real big day.
  18. nice pic and fish. looks like you really got that program down. i don't go for them there till late june and after when they go deep and can be successful downrigging. the few times i tried it earlier i only get beat up by the weeds and mosquitoes. think i saw you go by a few times last summer. any how want to try again soon. any particulars you could share to point me in the right direction would be appreciated more interested in the walleyes than northerns. or is it a mix bag the way you do it?
  19. wish i'd of been there to see those guys "stoked" at the weigh station. we've been staying at the same place and hanging out for years along with a tourney on lake erie. friday on the blow off day we were sitting around having a little party talking about how a big laker could take it. at the time we both had 2 on the board. we placed our third sat. and left for home. couldn't believe to see his laker on the board yesterday on the loc web page. he almost pulled it off. he''l probably still be stoked when i see him at dunkirk in july.
  20. i'll be out next thursday can't wait. saw 4 toms and a hen last evening. 3 of the toms were together. after that it's heading down to bringley's neck of the woods for 8 days of spring loc action. haven't been able to figure out how to fit in the opener of walleye. too much happening all at once! guess they'll have to wait. good luck all.
  21. thanks for the help.real glad to hear it's on. we've been doing the tournament for about the last 10 yrs. and have a great time. still haven't got the mailing with entry form. maybe it's on it's way.we just enter the ameri-can because of time restraints but heard them anounce the winners for the combo last year.thanks again and we can start planning for it.
  22. ray, i would love to observe you and muskybob at the same time but that would probably be against the pro am rules. did you ever try my roemer tip? see you don't listen when ladyblugill tries to make fishing easy for you. i think i'll hedge my observing bet on muskybob if he'll have me. any one who can pick the superbowl like him is a real winner with me.
  23. i could also do the observer thing in the pro ams. am retired and very flexible. been fishing the eslo/loc derbies since day one and have done o.k. never get sea sick and will bring my own beer. most importantly will try not to thro my 2 cents in tho that could be very hard.
  24. compared to what i am reading on here i guess i am pretty fortunate to live within 1 mile of the lake in greece and within an hour of my 2 favorite fishing holes conesus and honeoye. my take on it is enjoy it all you can because it aint going to get any cheaper and probably much worse. 5 yrs. from now you'll be looking at this as " the good ole days".
  25. am wondering if anyone on here knows if the derby is on for this year? last yr. i thought heard something about the 2 older guys that have been running were going to retire from it and it might be the last yr. i hope not, it's a great setup they had in dunkirk harbour and alot of fun.i usually get there mailing with reg. by now. have tried googling them along with the new york walleye association who ran it but wasn't able to come up with any contact info. would like to plan vacation time and any info pertaining to it would be appretiated
