  1. How about a BW consolation prize pak for our 34.5 taken Fri am on a big yellow BW custom flasher/fly? Port Ontario 9/2 NID (not in derby)
  2. Hey thanks! I'll give it a try, -Andy
  3. Knocked down our first bunch here around mid am. Probably could have had a decent chance of finishing em but the young 'skybusters' turned em off & away before I could simmer them down. I usually smoke the breasts - guess I'll have to make room for em somewhere between the salmon tomorrow, smoker schedule is pretty full for the next couple days... -Andy
  4. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: The Bartlett clan/ "Emily" ============== TRIP OVERVIEW Had our camper at Selkirk and fished from 8/21 thru 9/4 on and off out of Pine Grove. Went out mornings from 5:30-9:00 and then some afternoons from 3:30 to 6 or so. We headed out on a 330 heading most days to 120 FOW b4 Irene and then to 60-110 after things settled down again. Our most consistent producers were various large and med paddles & spinnys in white/white teamed w/ white & yellow flies. Running these ff combos about 0 to 20' off the bottom @ 1.7-2.1 down was best for us. Same FF combos on the wires w/ reg size divers out 250-330' on 2 worked well, especially after Irene. The weekend b4 Irene we had one afternoon where our 500' copper w/ a big Dew/Dew spinny + Siggs Dew pulse fly took all the fish as fast as we could get it deployed. Our best King came on Fri am on a wire setup pulling a big Yellow BW paddle w/ a yellow/white BW fly. This fish ripped out almost 400' of wire on the first run and wore us down w/ 2 more long savage sprints before hitting the deck at somewhere between 34 and 35lbs. Wound up w/ some really nice Cohos and a couple good steelies on top of way too many Kings to count. Big thanks go to Jason (who seems to have taken up residency up there) for keeping us on the fish when we had to go home for a couple days to work or get kids to preseason practices, etc. I'll try & get some pics up here a lil later. -Andy
  5. Saw your truck in the lot.Sounds like quite a day! -Andy
  6. I'm trying to find an easy way to get a frozen King out to Paul Czarnecki at the Oak before 9/17 or asap (it's taking up my whole 'beef freezer'). Please PM me if you are heading that way and I will get the cooler/fish to you. I thought I was going to shoot out that way to my mom's next weekend but other stuff keeps blocking the trip. Thanks, -Andy
  7. Nice job on the Mexico Kings! Agree with other fellow though -better lose those plastic rod holders for diver rods, we had a couple 'tackle busters' last weekend that I thought were gonna strip out the Bert's hardware, best was a touch over 30lbs We'll be back at em this afternoon -Andy Blue/white Starcraft Islander "Emily"
  8. WTG John! Been busy w/ many life changes + staging Kings but your post has me wanting to get back out on Cayuga! Thanks for the inspiration. -Andy
  9. Good thing you hit the lake Ed . My motto is "when in doubt, then go out" or my other standard advice is "there's 2 good times to go fishing - when the weather is good and when it's not" -Andy
  10. Multiple cold fronts will probably be more of an issue than the wind as long as you stay behind points but either way its better than work -Andy
  11. Very, very glad things worked out for you & the dog! I netted a fawn that was starting to drown a few years back off Tee Pee point and subdued it like a calf. Released it on the west side cuz that was the way it was heading but we no more than pulled away & back into the lake it went. Need less to say we netted it again after it tired & released it on the east side. It was either tired of boat rides or wanted to be on the east side because it bounded up over the tracks and vanished. -Andy
  12. I won a Mathews Drenalin a few years back and it's a very fine bow but I gotta agree with Grey, there's nothing magical about these bows! If I hadn't gotten the Mathews for free I might well be shooting my old Alpine which had 26 'notches' on it when my son took it over. The newer, more efficient bows are certainly better, but frankly I can't see spending Mathew size buck$ when so many companies are producing truly awesome bows for so much less.
  13. Congrats Rollie! Great fish!

    !!

Great pics! Thanks for the post.
  15. Nice job! -Andy
  16. Happy Birthday Ray! -Andy
  17. Hope all goes well with the recovery & that you will be to 'normal' asap! -Andy
  18. SOT is the way to go and the longer the better. Problem w/ yaks is they pivot & blow easy w/o some extra toys. Boat control is key to really being able to use most of the specific bass targeting techniques. Buy it right once and you will have something you can use and really have fun with. I think you might need to come up w/ a couple more buck$. Check out http://www.kayakbassfishing.com/ and some of the others & have fun! -Andy
  19. Nice job on those big ol' nasty lakers Sean! -Andy
  20. Good deal on the steel action. -Andy P.S. Doesn't look like I'm gonna get out there this weekend now
  21. I always like your reports & hope you can still get out with others and write a few. Get well soon! -Andy
  22. Good going Ed, when's dinner gonna be ready? -Andy
  23. Woodmeister I'll shoot you a pm (life is seriously crazy right now!). Don't get the 1Oz jigs they have at BPS! The hooks are not near sharp enough & the hook gap and balance of the jig are just not right! You want the 1oz gamma ball 4/0 black nickel jig from Schuberts & Laketown. Standard plastic is either a white Zoom super fluke or a white BPS/Gander Mtn 'Fat tail'. I C&R'd a nice brown that came in like an old boot on a Gander Mtn black & silver fat tail that looks just like an alewife, and for a while it was all the fish wanted. I also nailed a couple smallies after lunch off Sheldrake on root beer colored flukes. It's best to have a few different plastics w/ you so you can feel like there's something to do when the bite dies off -Andy
  24. Great pic & post
  25. Yo, QT I do think I saw you go by once but we were otherwise engaged cuz, we didn't notice the lack of water till we were well under way. When we did we cut the motor and tied up at a very posh, high end dock while I attempted to figure out what was going on. We were tied up there for a fair spell as I teased those baked earwig bodies out of the port w/ a sewing needle. It's important to have lots of weird stuff on one's boat for use in situations that, in retrospect, seem totally impossible to be prepared for. Anyway, we were so pumped when we got things back going that we were very close to instinctively cracking open a pair of Saranacs at 7:00 am to celebrate our victory over the cooling issue while still tied to the dock, but then figured that if some of the gentry came down for a morning stroll it wouldn't do for a pair of woodchucks to be tied up to their private dock, swilling beer before breakfast!
