Navionics or C map
Todd in NY replied to stillfishing's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I have a Navionics+ card and a C-Map card. I prefer the C-Map for my Lowrance units. Still can't beat the Lake Master cards in Hummingbird units. -

I agree 100%! -

What was the water surface temperature? That makes for a long day of fishing. -
That's good news! When Spicer's marina got their first look at my "new" boat in October 2017, their email to me sounded like I might need a new outboard, and some major fuel issues to fix. It ended up being some simple fixes, and the 1989 Evinrude 150 runs like a top. I hope for an easy solution for your "new" boat. Well, easier than original expectations

I wonder if the ducer is going bad...

Take a picture of your HDS screen next time to are on the boat, and post it here to give us an idea of what you are seeing. Is your transducer mounted 2' or 3' below the waterline?
-
I haven't seen that with my HDS8 Gen 2. What transducer are you using, and how long have you owned the HDS10?

X2 on this Panther steering kit. My EZ Steer kit fits my two older Evinrude 2-strokes just fine, but I can't reach the EZ Steer rod from inside the boat if I need to reconnect it or disconnect it. The Panther steering rod can be reached from inside the boat. I bought it last fall but still need to install it.

Yep, I hauled 8 wheelbarrow loads of firewood to the front porch yesterday afternoon. It snowed last night, and it's still snowing now. I think I'll work on some plumbing issues in my basement today. The wood stove is loaded and we are warm.

The wind finally just started to die down a little. Winds were steady between 20-30 mph with gusts near 40 mph. It's been a cold, wet 34 degree snow, blowing sideways all day.

I'm developing a low tolerance for snow. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I'm becoming a fair weather fisherman. I had to work in crappy weather for 20 years in the light infantry, so now I just choose to stay home and work on my honey-do list. I've got plenty of home repairs to keep me busy in the meantime. I fished a bunch of rough water last year, so I know my Sabre is up to the task. I wasn't planning to go out before the walleye opener anyway, so I'm okay with waiting another week.

I'm glad I haven't bothered to uncover my boat yet. It's snowing and blowing at my house. Looks like a repeat of last year when winter didn't want to go away. Maybe spring will get here before bass season opens in June.

This kind of behavior sucks! But asking for more laws against it is as bad as asking for more gun & ammunition laws. No new laws will stop any crime from taking place, because ALL laws ONLY affect law abiding citizens. Cuomo is already convinced that more new laws will stop crime, so let's not give any more power to the NY Czar than he already has.

Wanted: Internship For Environmental Science
Todd in NY replied to Todd in NY's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Thanks! I'll have him check the course number with ESF. He either has to do an approved internship, or some very extensive research project. I'm not 100 percent sure what the details are. -
Wanted: Internship For Environmental Science
Todd in NY replied to Todd in NY's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Thanks for the feedback! Bandrus1, we'll check with ESF to see if that will qualify for graduation credit. He's registered on the DEC website, and checks the website weekly. I'll pass on the info about TILT. -
My son is a junior at SUNY ESF (Environmental Science & Forestry) and he is looking for an internship for this summer. He lives in Syracuse and has no real preference for any particular field, as long as it is in Environmental Science. The only requirement is that the internship has to be accepted by SUNY ESF to count toward his major in Environmental Science. Please contact me if you know of any available internships that he can apply for. Thanks in advance!
