  1. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:lady j ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):see above Time on Water:3-4 hrs each day Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: bumpy Surface Temp: 73-74 Location: finger ,haystack trench LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 19 Total Boated:10 browns ,3 skippy chinooks Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: stingers nbks Trolling Speed: 2.4 -3.1sog Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth:81 and 115 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== well, considering the blow (winds ) that went all weekend it still turned out to be an o.k weekend.more browns were to be had and it seems as though the browns just keep on getting bigger each wk.at least they were bigger than in the earlier part of the season when they were coming off the big boards. set up in 140 ft of water and headed south aiming for the cooling towers.as always i set up a3 rigger spread and also put the dipsy out to play on the port side.started putting out the third rigger when the starboard rigger fired resulting in a nice 7 lb laker. released that fish and reset the rigger a nd i was finally able to put the wire dipsy down. loaded it up with a green blue asnd silver spin dr. and a chewed up white atomik ts fly.set it back on a2 1/2 setting 250 ft back.set it in the rod holder.took over driving duties so that wifey coul;d take a nap. well, that nap was a short one as about seven short minutes after i took the wheel the wire rig started screaming bloody murder taking the line counter from the 250 ft that it was recently at to 440 ft in a matter of about 12 seconds. about 12 minutes later i was finally able to get the monster to within 65 ft of the end of the rod when she decided to do some massive head thrashing and broke loose, resulting in heart break, exhaustion and a tiny chunk of a salmons mouth on a rather empty atomik fly. oh well, thats how it goes sometimes. any ways the rest of the day and weekend was productive with more fish caught, sunrays and asuprise visit from my son. stingers in dolphins colors ,nbks ,and green spinnies crazy **** atomik flies and a wolverine blue chilly willy spoon(an ol fav of mine)all did their duty for me.140 fow lucky depths were 81 and 115 and i also took a nice brown up high in 56 fow. taking this next wkend off to enjoy the harbor fest with wife and kids and friends. have a good week! mike m
  2. Jeff,it all depends.if it s rocking out there i will make a run south(waves up there are normally from the south/southwest)turn around and follow the waves in for a smoother ride for the wifey.if its calm,i start from the north and head s/sw about 240 -270 deg, from the light house or center of the trench. whats ur boat name?, i'll try to give u shout if u are out this wkend. mike m
  3. Kev,the haystack is about 3-4 miles south of the light house. if u can get ahold of some NOAA charts you can actually see the structure is shaped like its name.not so much pointy ,but hump shaped sorta. i have a 22ft fiberglass boat and i do agree it can get hairy good luck and be careful! this season! mike m
