  1. Hello LOU Members, With the increased interest in Musky fishing, I thought it would be a good time to do something to help support the fishery. As you can see from the posts here on LOU there are many successful fishing trips by many anglers. There are only a few key people in our area working very hard to keep our great fisheries alive. With that in mind we want to do our part to keep it going. Anyone that would like to donate to the Chautauqua Bait Fish Fund can send a check made out to Mostly Muskies and send to Capt. Larry D. Jones, 268 Harrison Ave, Buffalo, NY 14223 Thanks in advance for your support in this most excellent cause!
  2. Not sure on the tigers Zach. We have yet to see one. We will try a little harder this fall though. More to come. I hope.
  3. Congrats Nitro. It is a major accomplishment in this day and age. Good for you! Hope you guys have a nice time there. Dont forget the Casino.
  4. 56.5" x 22" girth = 34lbs 56.5" x 25" girth = 44lbs Huge difference, I dont know how you cold geta accurate replica without the girth. I agree though VERY NICE FISH.
  5. Great Idea Nitro. The weather looks perfect for this weekend.
  6. Well you make good points Zach. I guess I am just comfortable with the heavy duty swivels I bought from MTO. If one ever fails.....I might change my mind. So please let us know how it works for you.
  7. Black n silver for me. Already 2 fish (1st lost) on the first time out with em! NICE!
  8. I am not saying the swivel helps with the tangle only to help from twisted line. I have switched to the stayloc snaps that dont have a swivel and a 300lb swivel on the other end. I also use the double uni for line to line connections but I dont think it would work that good with 80 or 100lb fluoro as the knot is best for lines of similar diameter. Also with the heavy fluoro its hard to get any knot tight! If you make it work please let us know how you did it and the advantages you find. Interesting subject.
  9. Nice Fish they look very healthy! Wendy holds her fish like that too. Must be a chick thing. Thanks for the pic's.
  10. Here is the info Zach. I Believe it will be both lakes if the turnout is big enough. Bob may have more info.
  11. Well I am not the expert but I believe that the swivel first porvides a easy connection point. Second keeps line from being twisted during those nasy tangles when both lures end up doing summersaults. On the jerkbait piano wire leaders are the preferred connection. I have found MTO online to be a good source for terminal tackle. http://www.muskytackleonline.com/acatalog/Leaders.html Only a rookies advice, Hope it helps.
  12. Yes it was a nasty scar Zach, not sure how to tell if its healing or not. It was not a thru hole though, like the one in Nitro's fish at the last tourney! Cant say I would support any special favors for the women. Wendy does very well on our boat, sometimes better than me! It is a nice jesture but.... Thats funny. When we made our first pass thru there I marked our first musky all weekend. I said to Wendy look at this hook! thats what we been looking for. Not 5sec's later the clicker went nuts!! Cant say it was the fish we marked but still pretty cool! Yes i agree good to meet Zach n Lexi and Chad n Katie congrats on the engagement Chad!! Better buy up those lures while you can. Congrats to Dad and Joe as well. I should not have omitted Capt Mike Sperry from my original post. He was very profesionial and did a great job under the circumstances. I imagine we are a more intense bunch than the average crowd one might speak too. So thanks to Capt Mike and Happy Hooker are in order! Its just that we spent about an hour talking with Captian Larry after the dinner and no matter how many questions we asked he just kept comming back with the most detailed answers! I am still a bit taken by how much he really knows!
  13. We had a good time at the Sept. Musky Tourney. Captain Larry put on a great show. I have never met a more knowledgeable guy, and very forthright with information-a very hard to come by type in the musky world! He came thourgh with the triple X too! Very nice. If anyone wants to catch Musky, I highly recommend Captain Larry Jones. I am sure you could not do better! We will hire him just because of the selfless work he does for the musky and the fisherman alike! So thats my promo. I am sure more will agree! We only boated a 39" during the tourney. Lost another early in the morning. We also got Wendy her first a 33" on sunday! I will let her post if she wants. I know most LOU teams boated fish in very tough conditions-cold front and blue bird skys. Lets see some pic's guys!
  14. Cool Vid Blue Eye. Looking forward to meeting. Will you be at the dinner? Glad you are still with us Nitro you been very quite over there!
  15. Thats awesome! We may have to try that after dinner Saturday! If anyone can still walk!
  16. We will spend some time on the south end Friday. But if we dont have good luck there I will be north come Saturday morning! I am much more comfortable up there! I just really want to catch a big girl on the cast! I think that would be the ultimate Musky Experience! My best so far is 37" casting. not bad but not good enough! 50" is my goal; maybe it will take 10yrs but maybe not!!
  17. Ok thanks for the info! We will do some casting on Friday to try and raise some fish. If we dont see any it will be one long day of trolling on Saturday!
  18. Thats very generous of yoy Zach. If we win any door prizes a $10 donation will be made to the bait fund! I wish it could be more but work is slow and we anit got a lot. Hopefully we pick up soon. 32hrs is KILLIN me!!! Good luck to all!!!
  19. Alright Tony, Glad to hear. Hope there are hungry next Saturday! Sahllow down by the cribs isn't it? How fast you trolling, Any luck casting?
