  1. Brady" I didn't alter that ball". Clinton"I did not have sexual relations with that woman".
  2. Jds set up with the singles works great. Fall kings stay on much better on the singles. They make it much easier to release skippys and shakers.
  3. The guys are spot on. If you need help any good auto mechanic could knock this job out.
  4. Mid march in a good year. Lakers and browns. A little research on this site will go a long way come spring...best of luck.
  5. If brady went trout fishing, he'd use a cricket. Scum bag!
  6. Your last line is spot on. They will definately go cold if they're tweaked.
  7. Can be an act of god. Last time we flipped was caused by a large branch still full of leaves. We had 12 lines full involved in that mess in 30 seconds. Just wondering if anyone has experianced this with boards that pull this hard? I use triple plastic boards that are nothing to brag about.
  8. Im on record. I use split rings on all my spoons. I do not think it improves my catch rate. Nor does it decrease. It does help to protect my investment. We buy fifty spoons every winter. In the last four years, none of the 200 spoons we have have lost any paint. We fish 25 to 30 full days each season. Our catch rate is between 600 to 650 every year. That did fall to 470 last year, but im not blamin that on a ring.
  9. Thats a cool picture, can you imagine the number and quality of fish those flies will catch.
  10. M. Stingers are a great example of a spoon that needs a split ring. They are light and bend easily. The only reason they dont come with them is the extra cost to the manufacturer. Dicks and gander carry the stingers. Box store spoon. You dont want to break the paint on those. The whole spoon will peel. They will catch fish. You' buy three of them a year, compared to good quality stuff.
  11. I missed my own point. With the dog clip you can clip on easier if you do forget before deploying.
  12. The ring is the same. I just like the dog clips because at days end, you pop them off, roll em up and stick em in compartment. Less moving parts when trailering.
  13. We have been using the retrival system for a long time.
  14. We also have a penn yan 245. We use nylon line with a metal dog leash connector attached to the tow line. We tie off the other end to the outside rail. We had to play with the length at first. Works great. We just got the boat in august and it was set up like yours. We had masts in parts in the garage.
  15. With out a split ring the swivel rubs the paint around the hole. It is also much less forgiving in the net when a big old fall king is going nuts and your treble is two hooks in his jaw. We started using warriors a few years ago, they come with rings on all. Huge difference. We added them to all. Only way to go. IMO
  16. All great stuff. I wish i had something like this twenty years ago. Our set up is just like fleets.with one new wrinkle. We mounted masts with pullys at the bow. Kinda like a bow mount rig. We are trying to get the boards to run as far forward as is possible.
  17. Rings on will help to keep your spoons from getting torn up. They have no effect on weight or action IMO.
  18. How cool would it be, at 17, to land a gig riding around on a nice high class viking.
  19. Dead on. Thats why divers grab down rigger wire when folks get to close on those combat trolling days. We have been tangled up three times this way. Twice by the same boat. In two different seasons.
