  1. The replacment motors fit the big jons
  2. Thanks for the report. The rest is a train wreck. I want to share, but not with him. Really?
  3. Put your lure in the water and let it out. Flip your free spool lever to the down position and let out line. Length will be determined by style of fishing. On riggers 10-30 feet, generally. Clip on release and send it down(thumb on the spool) to where the fish are. Flip free spool lever up and tighten your line. Make sure drag is right and clicker on.
  4. Cannon 10a does not have any type of retrieve handle. The vertical spool passes through the frame. If a motor goes its hand over hand.
  5. Hope you're right. Sooner the ice is gone, the sooner water temps go up.
  6. Power auth. Is planning removal for first week in may. When they start it will be all over the local news.
  7. Right. Anti-fowl goes on easily with a roller and is designed to come off. It can be rolled on each year. You do not sand it.
  8. Yes. The aluminum is tuff to get a bond, unless you sand it. No sanding after painting with anti-foul.
  9. The biggest trick to making it look good is paint dry to wet. Start on a 20 inch section and apply paint to dry surface and paint up to the wet paint. Dont go back. Use compound and sandpaper to get out imperfections. Marine paints dryvery quick. Three thin layers if you want it to look good. Sand between each coat. Good luck.
  10. The ice boom is an artifical barrier put in place to stop lake erie ice from blocking the power authority water intakes. Google it.
  11. What we have to keep in mind, when it comes to the boom. Its not a matter of pushing a button and its out. They started taking it out last year and ran into problems that took a couple of extra days to work out. Crews have to be scheduled to do the work. They cant do that until its ready. Its easier to take out later, then to rush it. I fish the bar every year. Boom out april 1, best fishing. Its gonna be another year of hard work filling boxes. Imho.
  12. Last year was may 1. Latest ever. I dont have anything to do with it. They have informed municipalitys down river that first week in may is the time. 42% coverage as of yesterday. It is not 20%. Its more like 4%. So many square miles. Dont quote me on %, I did the math years ago.
  13. Power auth. is planning boom removal for early may. Sorry, I dont like it either.
  14. Pick up 4-12lb and 2-14lb sharks. These are a steal for the price. Thanks Rich
  15. If you're in any kind of current. There may be a 2mph difference from gps. On rough days down speed may be 4 mph different than surface speed.
  16. That is the sharpest birth, for a boat that size, i've seen in a long time. Good Luck
  17. I used it on a 21' penn yan. It would run 3 mph at full throttle. At 1.5- 2mph was best for battery life.
  18. The bar is a wasteland when the ice on lake erie hangs on, like last year. Loc winner was weighed in, in wilson. The fish were caught in canada. Lots of ice again this year.
  19. Wow this thread took the long way around. I dont use the break away cable. I would be just as unhappy losing a ball. All of the precautions are a must with three hundred $ hanging on a wire cable.
  20. Yes. White covers, salt water model. Twin motors. Charger was $250 extra. It doesnt come with the motors when purchased new.
  21. This is the big one. 160 lb thrust, electric trolling motor. All specs are easy to find at minn kotas web site. We got a bigger boat last fall and I have no use for it. It is rated for up to a 24' boat and 4000lbs. Throttle control is great. Adjust speed by 1/10mph. Its dead silent when trolling. Included is a minn kota three bank charger. We could troll for eight hours before switching to main engine. After two hours batteries were charged enough to finish out the day. Used two seasons. Purchased new at cabelas three years ago. $500. Im in the buffalo area.
