Or make it 2 weeks long starting a week earlier with no walleye it doesn't have to be may spring browns can be pretty conditions sensitive so 1 week can be rough. Personally I think it would be cool to bring walleye back and open it up to erie change the name to great lakes county's might get enough new entrants that way but that probably a fair bit of time and effort to set up

Does lake Champlain have alewives? I thought there was a good fishery there but dont really have much direct knowledge. Atlantics In Lake o are a pipe dream at best In the finger lakes they can be a decent fishery contributer but only Maintained through stocking, being a waste there is a matter of opinion each water body should be considered as it's own

My thinking was always that it can make a difference but not always every day is different. As a weekend guy and trying to keep less equipment on the boat I like to try and take things out of the equation so I go black and don't give myself other options I already second guess myself to much

Lakers were there yes but in much smaller qty's before human intervention. Human intervention and various forms of pollution specifically nutrient loading lead to a massive increase in productivity in the lake and thus more fish. with things getting cleaner and humans attempting to be more environmentally friendly the lake is getting cleaner. stocking more fish is the opposite of what is needed. stocking bait in qty is not realistically practical, the cisco project only works if it establishes a breeding population. blue green algae is not all bad its potentially harmful sure but still creates a base for the food chain. dying blue green algae still release nutriets that can foster growth of other algaes and planktons. fertilizer is the nutrients that help plants grow a key one is phosphorous. Phosphorous IS the limiting factor for productivity in the lake.

the fact is over the last 40 years far less pollution has entered all the lakes in this country. the mussels exacerbated this. the low nutrient load means that lake and most of the finger lakes just cant sustain the populations they did in the past. in essece the water is to clean. People talk about run off from wineries but the the fact is there is not nearly as much as is precieved. Muddy water running out from creeks is normal it is not pollution. the fact is more fertilizer run off on a regular basis would make the lakes more productive as the nutrients such as phosphorus would help grow algae which is the bottom of the food chain. lakers live long enough that the current population was created under more productive conditions which is no to much for the lake. there will be a large crash and it will take years for the ecosystem to rebalance itself but as mentioned it will be a Oligtrophic lake.

on the bright side in the early spring and late fall its mostly fisherman and things flow much better mid summer go east or west to the next launch. I had the first time experience of going to oneida shores late this spring and that place was a total clown show in the afternoon. lines of cars lines of boats people cutting each other off and guys sitting in there truck with the boat backed into the water and no one doing anything for over an hour on 2 of the lanes. thankfully i did not have any urgent time line and was able slide into a spot when no one was paying attention run to the car get the boat on the trailer and to the parking just before people started the yelling match over the one lane. one going in one going out so we will not do that launch again in warm weather.

i tried that once or twice in the past and there seems to be no trailer parking over there. what am i missing because i will pay for the convience of not a lot of recreational and new boaters.

We fished out of sandy I always have to start later in the morning so ended up in the overflow lot and trudge is being kind to that walk that channel was busier than I have ever seen it. Glad you lucky at the launch that place can definitely test the blood pressure we tried to jig but never really found good jigging marks so converted to trolling. Glad you got into the. There I have been dabbling with jigging for a few years and am convinced it can work in a lot of the lake I also think mooching has potential just always have trouble getting baits and don't get out nearly as much as I want to

they have a kiosk to pay. yes on the launching early. with that said this time of year during the day it is a s*** show at times so as long as your willing to be patient at the end of the day your good if your not than i would recommend not launching there. personally i don't launch there during nice weather in the summer if i can avoid it for just this reason.

I disagree if the speed says 75mph and I get get bit I don't care that it's wrong as long as I can get it to say 75 again and the lures have the same action. Salmon can swim at 30 miles an hour and can see and sense baits from a long way off exact speed or depth precision is way less important than lure action the probe has definitely put more fish In the boat for me especially in the currents of lake O sometimes you have to bump your GPS speed by a lot more than. You would think and even watching lines can be misleading with surface currents and deep currents different

Accuracy is not important it's repeatability that matters don't think of it as a speed think of it as an index number find the one that works for your set up and than you have your starting target make slight up and down adjustments as needed for a given day

With flashers there is just so much potential for twist that heavier leader is nice I like 30lb fluro and if I run a spoon I'll use 20
