  1. Way to go. My wife and I caught many fish this morning just no eyes.
  2. Returned to Chaumont today and caught no walleyes. Drum, pickerel, pike and so many smallmouths I had to move out into deeper water but couldn't not one walleye. Looked like charters and others were in search mode. What a difference a couple days can make.
  3. I'm going to try to send a photo.

    Chaumont

Got blown off at10:30 but not before catching 5 eyes, 3 smallmouths, 2 drum, 2 perch, and a pike. Largest eye and pike were each a shade under 9 lbs. Also 4, 5, 6, and 8 lb. eyes. Fish had alewives in their stomachs and most came off stitch baits from boards.
  5. I caught a couple nice ones at Chamount on Thursday.
  6. Spent the weekend at my friends camp near Deseronto on Quinte. Hit a great bite last night and caught about 15 fish in a half hour. Not huge but plenty in the 15 to 21" range for the table. Evening bite was better than morning but you could catch fish when you found them. A good weekend with good friends.
  7. Fished the east side this morning and caught two, One 6 and one 7 lbs. and a pike . Hit one in the first 15 minutes and then another about an hour later and that was it. We saw a few others boated. Both came off a Bomber with a couple small split shot off the board.
  8. I never had an issue with the older Winchester super XX in 3" #5's. Perhaps the misfire was a fluke but after contacting hem by email about the misfire they have not gotten back to me. .
  9. I fished Butterfield today and the water was very clear. Fish were nearly everywhere along the shorelines. Crappies and rock bass were on brush piles, gills were right on the surface with their backs actually out of the water, many large bass and we saw several garfish and pike. Kept about 3/4 of a pail of mixed panfish many on a flyrod popper.
  10. Crappies are moving into shallower spawning area. Bluegills and sunfish are moving into warm shallows. Caught a half pail of mixed panfish, mostly on my flyrod with poppers this afternoon.
  11. Well, I had 3 Toms at around 40 yards this morning and when I pulled the trigger the shell misfired. I was using new Winchester Longbeard 3 1/2" which i had patterned and killed a bird with a couple weeks ago. It sounded sort of like a dud firecracker. I checked the barrel and there was no stuck wad. The end third of the shell case appeared somewhat melted. Very disappointing and I already sent notification to Winchester with lot number and a photo of the case and a dirty patch I ran through the barrel. I'm interested to see their response.
  12. I talked tp a friend tonight and he told me the same information. Thanks!
  13. I forgot to mention we had strawberry rhubarb pie for desert!
  14. I drove by the one at Three Mile Bay and was wondering if is suitable for launching a 18' Lund ?
  15. I love my 18' Lund Alaskan for it's versatility. It has plenty of room to fish 3. I use it into January for duck hunting and have it ready for browns as early as March. With bow mount electric motor, 9.9 kicker and 60 hp Mercury 4 stroke it fishes cheap. With 2 downriggers, a planing board mast, and rod holders I can fish salmon, trout, bass, pike, walleyes and panfish. True it may not handle really big weather but I don't like fishing in big waves anyway. It also works well on the St. Lawrence and some of the Indian River Lakes. I've taken it to fish and duck hunt many locations throughout the state and it has a great trailer that pulls and loads very easily.
  16. You know it's May when your dinner consists of fresh crappie and fresh picked asparagus from the garden and nothing else. Especially when you eat till you're stuffed and there are still leftovers.
  17. Once again the fish were scattered along the weed edge. Most were in 7-12 fow near or above the weeds. Jigs are down about 3' from the bobber. I actually fish a jig with a second hook above it like a drop shot rig with the jig for weight. That way you fish 2 minnows or plastics on each rod and cover two different depths. It is a very effective method for panfish. We are also catching many bass which are released.
  18. Hit the crappies again this afternoon with my buddy Don and got a nice bunch and some good gills.
  19. My wife and I hit a small Indian River Lake for a couple hours this afternoon and took a nice bunch of crappies and a few gills. All on jig with plastic under a float. They were over the top of weeds in about 6-8 fow and not on spawn areas yet.

    LOTI

Haven't been there but with warm weather and rain I'd guess in the 60's.
  21. Put in at Sandy Creek and fished out by the mouth and headed west, Surface temp. was 54.7 at the mouth and dropped to 49 as we went farther east. Also went out toward Drown Island. A slow morning with 2 lakers and 2 browns. All were caught on spoons in 12-25 fow. When activity slowed we pulled the boat and ran to Sackets and trolled for walleyes but came up empty. We did have one fish on but dropped it before we could determine what it was. Trolled sticks off the rigger and cranks on the boards.
  22. Yep below Ogdensburg . A friend fished yesterday and got shutout. I hope to go again Monday weather permitting.
  23. Haven't had access in a few days so here's a photo.
