  1. It seems to me that it reflects the fact that the zebras and quaggas have filtered out a vast majority of the zooplankton that the bait feeds on and with this "missing link" at that point in the food chain everything above it suffers. I know a lot folks don't believe that but it appears to be more evident as time rolls on.
  2. WTG Kev Those Great lakes #4's are pretty close to the old Pfleugers even in terms of finish and action aren't they? I like them a lot better than the Ace's too.
  3. Yeah John it beats the hell out of the fish smell thanks to a full can of Lysol orange scent and shampooing the rugs and two days in the sun Next time I go to get bait I'll probably glue down the lid on the bucket
  4. I second that....may not be the easiest one of the season
  5. Here is the end result of the fiasco.... many thanks to my long time buddy Admiral Byrd
  6. Good one Mike
  7. I think Mike is living out my fantasy life with those boats and who knows what will be next now that his fly business is taking off so well
  8. Here are a couple of setups with Spin n Glows and in between them is a green "peanut" which can also be used behind the "blades" instead of the Spin N Glows. Both types of setups are deadly for lakers
  9. i hope you are right Nick.
  10. Very interesting on the cowbells as usually they are best on or near bottom but the "not always" rule always applies to fishing
  11. Good luck out there guys. The usual fish don't seem to be at the north end at all. Buddy was out yesterday and never marked any fish or bait even out to 150 ft. Not sure what is going on but hope it improves by derby time.
  12. Yeah....I was kinda regretting shmoozing her and getting extra bait and water
  13. See this is what I mean about ball busters So I had a slight problem with my 5 gal. bucket full of minnows spilling fully in the car on the way home from getting bait....doesn't that happen to everybody once in awhile?....oh that's right ....not when it is their wife's car (while she is in Florida) Here is the result: and... yes I did hide all my guns and lock them up See I fessed up!
  14. Cowbells can be used above for example lakers suspended up but near the bottom but the most effective use is just off bottom with the sinker or weight bumping intermittently on bottom. It can work as the bottom most setup on a Seth Green rig too with leaders and lures above it but again it is most effective up off but near bottom.
  15. I didn't see any pricing on it on their website
  16. Looking at this kinda hit me as being pretty amazing this AM . Back in the seventies when I had my 13 ft Whaler I would have to drive from Geneva to Sodus Point to see what the waves were like and then decide whether it was "fishable" and sometimes had to sit in the parking lot or go to Chase's restaurant and hope it would calm down. Nowadays we take a lot for granted in this age of electronic technology and forget just how wonderful some aspects of it can be .
  17. I didn't realize a store was involved....whole different ballgame than buying from someone unknown as a private sale.
  18. I was thinking in terms of protecting both of you. As Ed indicated at least of bill of sale with the owners names and dates of sale etc. It can be important proof of when you came into possession of the firearm and from whom.
  19. It can be that simple but what if it is stolen or has been used in a crime? Always good to be able to show valid chain of ownership in some manner as proof. Knowing the person you are dealing with is also a plus.
  20. Here is the stuff I'm using Here are the instructions for setup for folks just getting started or others who have thrown away the packaging for the Spinney
  21. I think Hop reversed the numbers because with him luck is only 10 percent of it....especially when he runs rigs Good luck Hop!
  22. I'd be glad to try them out too :>)
  23. As far as the 50% goes I think some of it relates to the lure itself on the slider as well as the shape of the snap on the swivel. I stopped using coast locks way back when for that reason. If you use a swivel snap that is very rounded it may not get as "hung up" on the mainline and travel a bit further. The same goes for heavier spoons they do tend to travel further down the main line. Your speed is also a factor the bow in the main line tends to be more pronounced the faster the speed of the boat and may stop the lure further up.. Just more things to think about I guess
