  1. thanks guys, jeb thanks for the link im gonna order some from them. looks he has all sorts of goodies for me to order. Man that berts track is nice with them ratcheting rod holders I saw cannon had the same or similar product out I didnt really look into it but any reveiws on that...are the rod holders interchangable with berts? Im also thinking about adding a small piece of track up in the front of my boat for a net holder so its not getting tangled up with my rods or trampled on the ground.
  2. Yeah I'm gonna pick up 2 more metals rod holders this weekend. At 80 bucks a rod holder I was hoping I could go cheap. I know if I were to get them id loose a rod and then blow a gasket. Ill just stick with the metal ones. Thanks for the input guys [ Post made via Android ]
  3. I have berts track on my boat with the polished metal ratcheting rod holders for my diver rods. I saw online and at the store plastic ratcheting rod holders by berts. they felt pretty heavy like they could handle divers at half the price of the metal rod holders. My question is if anyone has used them are they any good for divers? I was thinking about getting them for planner boards and/or down rigger.
  4. Make sure all your connections are tight on your battery, starter and starter solenoid. Disconnect the battery before you check the connections.
  5. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Bas Ackwards ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8-6-11 Time on Wa-ter:430-1030 PM Weather/Temp:cloudy then sun Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: 1ft Surface Temp:56 to 73 Location:olcott LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 6 Total Boated: 2 Species Breakdown: Kings Hot Lure: nothing all hits on spin drs- blue/ purple mirage fly and white nuclear/ habenero fly Trolling Speed: 2.6 to 3.2 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 200 to 450 then 100 Lure Depth: 25 to 60 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== I went to olcott with my brother for an evening bite hoping for a decent day out but after hearing the lake flipped we figured we would give it a shot. On a lead from another boat we went out to 200 fow and set up ....nothing on the screen. At 260 caught a small king 180 ft on a dipsy/ spin dr combo. nothing on the screen at 300 saw some boats out deeper so we slowly kept going out everytime we would be about to pick up we would make some fish and keep us out there so finally before dark we picked up because we knew we would have to go back into the fog and didnt want to risk having a collision with another boat we started in with some light we hit 100 fow and decided to stop and look around ... then saw another boat while setting the lines we already had some fish on and then popped off. lots of makes on the screen but the water was almost 15 degrees warmer than when we left or we would have fished inside. ended up with a dragger on the rigger and found him when we clear the lines to go in. we took 4 or 5 hits a few nicer fish in about 25 minutes. should have went in sooner but live and learn. There was a nice guy at the dock that came over and talked to us and offered us some fish they had cooked. Smelled real good but we had to get home the boss was waiting for me.
  6. Try calling edlebrock they could probobally help you out with that [ Post made via Android ]
  7. they make one with red dots too that might be the measles i dont know
  8. i see your speed was 2.5 mph. I like to go between 2.7 and 3.1. were there any other boats around? Maybe alittle deeper on your downriggers put them about where your marking fish. try to zig zag your direction instead of a straight line.
  9. id set up with a dipsy diver maybe one of them little guys with a natural born killer ( like bazooka joe said) them black and green spoons have been the best for me. as for getting the line out it doesnt have to be exact id shoot for 250 and run that if no bits after a while let some more line out and adjust it. as for super heavy line id go at least 15 if you dont mind stopping the boat to fight the fish and of course with that lighter line dont horse in a big one let it do its thing. let us know how you do it seems like a really cool trip and what the heck if you can get a few fish to bite even better
  10. What kind of spoons colors and size were you using color spinnie and fly? I've had me best luck on black and green spoons and white or green colors flashers and flies [ Post made via Android ]
  11. looks like 2 guys that had a good day fishing. good job guys
  12. I made it out to onieda for the first time since ice fishing with my brother inlaw. We fished near the bouys drifting worms on harnesses and crankbaits. I ended up with a few white perch a big old sunfish and a channel cat that weighed 10 plus pounds. we thought i had a big sheephead on but when it came up boy were we surprised. The pic of the catfish is a crappy pic that you cant see it too good.
  13. I had problems with dipsies bending the spring loaded screw for adjusting the angle of the rod holder other than that they were good [ Post made via Android ]
  14. hopefully i can get out next weekend i have had way to many weddings cutting into my fishing time. ill send you some pics soon. 16. Yeah the fleas stick to it but its not too bad....I've caught well over 100 salmon on braid this year and I'm not changing the braid untill I have to. [ Post made via Android ]
  17. I wouldnt neccesarilly go out and buy all that stuff. I dont have a temp/speed probe...the only thing i have is the surface temp on my fish finder. Stagger you lines and see where youre marking fish and adjust. I dont use wire divers, I use braid on my divers because i couldnt afford wire and got a bunch of power pro 300 yrd spools for 10 dollars each on clearence. I use berkley big game mono for my leaders and i have 20 plus foot leaders of 30 or 40 lb line for leaders. I like to use longer rods for divers 9'6" or 10'6" and 8'6" for rigeers. I have manual scotty downriggers with a 20 inch boom and 12 lb weights. I used to use 4 dipsy divers off my dads boat that didnt have down riggers. I would say youre most important thing now starting out before you dump all your money into trolling gear is to know the speed of your boat. I do best 2.7 to 3.1 mph. I use a hand held delorme gps unit. It will take some time of picking stuff up here and there to get your boat set up with everything and the best stuff.
  18. just got them flies you sent me thanks ryan...my brother in law said he was going to order like 12 from you. thanks again the flies look great
  19. well my neighbor helped me pull out my starter because it was really loose in the bracket...a screw missing. So he opened it up cleaned everything up, found 1 of the brushes was installed upside down and another brush the spring pushing it up on the contacts was half off the brush. Now that we cleaned it and reinstalled it it starts like a champ now. It was kinda loose a few weeks ago when me and randy111 were out and had problems and discovered it was loose but this time it was real loose almost loose enough to not need tools to take out the starter. I never realized how easy it is to rebuild a starter...given that the windings arent fried. Thanks for the input guys I figured id post this for anyone with a similar situation and try to be helpfull
