  1. if you want to save a few dollars dont run mercury oil run quicksilver it is the same stuff just a different label. But make sure it is the right oil for your motor.
  2. I'm with jammer. I use 9'6" diawa heartlands mh action with power pro. If you want to use wire you can put a twilly tip on or go with a roller rod. I never ran roller rods but am looking at the okuma blue diamond roller rods they seem affordable [ Post made via Android ]

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6-18-11 Time on Water:300pm -930pm Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: none Surface Temp: Location: olcott LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 15 Total Boated:9 Species Breakdown:kings Hot Lure: white spinnie/blue fly and 42 second spoon Trolling Speed: 2.8-3.1 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 150-240 Lure Depth: 20 -60 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Went out for a while saturday afternoon. Started off about an hour in with a small king then 1 and hour for 3 hours then once the sun started to go down we couldnt keep the lines in. We managed 5 small kings that went back and 4 kings 16 to 18 lbs.
  4. I run braid to the dipsy then a 5 foot 30 or 40 lb mono leader to the spin doctor/fly or to the spoon. and about 20-24 inch leadr from spin doctor to fly (depending on size of spinnie). It says on the package you can use a spoon after the spin doctor but i just use a fly.

    First Carp!

The bobber works good you just have to make sure its an older one with the 2 holes in the bottom of the bobber so you can spin the bottom hook thin sideways so the line slides threw it. I always used the smaller bobbers maybe 1 inch or 1 1/ 2 inch diameter. Only thing is if you set the hook with the bobber on it could wrap around the rod. Soi tied a hair clip to the bobber to clip on my line so when I pick up the rod the clip slides off the line [ Post made via Android ]

what kind of setup are you using? try to setup a sliding/slip sinker rig with a 3 foot leader to the hook. Set something on your line that slides on your line like them old red and white bobbers(but it cant pinch the line , push the metal hook on the bottom of the bobber out and turn it alittle so it sits on the bobber so that the line can go freely threw it) put it half way up on your rod so the bobber hanging down takes up the slack in the line and keeps the line tight. let it take up 2 or 3 feet of line so when you get a bite you will see your bobber go up or down and the fish dont feel a thing. You can use the metal shower curtain rings (like from walmart) you want them to be hevy enough to take up the slack and light enough they dont feel it. When I use the curtain rings i paint them white or yellow so i can see them at night better. Nice fish though he looks really happy!

  12. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Bass Ackward ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6/4/11 Time on Water:7:00 to 10:30 Weather/Temp:cloudy/ rain 70 degrees Wind Speed/Direction:light to no wind Waves: less than 1 foot Surface Temp: Location: Olcott- Wilson LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 16 Total Boated:9 Species Breakdown:All Kings Hot Lure: 42 second spoon and nuclear spinnies green flies Trolling Speed: 2.7 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 100ft to 330ft Lure Depth: top 50 foot ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Went out Saturday morning with Randy111 and my dad for a bit, It started slow but once we hit the 1st fish it was on. pretty much non stop action. Getting fish on everything we threw at them. It seemed that we were loosing everyother fish i know 1 bent the hook and im not sure how the others were getting off...probly from handing the pole to each other. We lost a good 20 lb king at the boat after a 20 min fight. Biggest fish was 16lb the rest were 8 to 10 lb range. Just glad to get my dad into a bigger fish that peeled off 300 feet of line to get him off his walleye kick. It seemed like everyone was catching fish out there
  13. i have a flasher file for my flashers and a tube file for my flies. The flashers and flies that im not using or not tied up to my rods i separate...flasher in the flasher box androll up the fly leader and put the flie in the tube with the leader and hook and beads all rigged and ready to go. You can get the tube file and flasher file from gander moutain (in tonawanda) or many tackle shops i bought my flasher file at fat nancys. Dream weaver makes both of them so you could order one online too.
  14. We trolled about 1.9 to 2.1 mph [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  15. I was at chinnook marina in fair haven about 3 weeks ago. We pulled f7s and jr. thundersticks and smithwicks. Blue and silver worked real good... orange bellyed stick baits produced fish. It wouldnt hurt to have some f9's but if you dont have any i wouldnt go out and buy them. screwy louies had a ton of used stick baits for like 5 for 13 dollars or something like that. We fished 6 ft to 20 ft. When we got out of the piers we did best heading west(left) hit 3 cohos right near the pier and lost a screamer. Picked browns up the rest of the way down the shoreline. We went east 1 evening and picked 1 small brown near the pier and not a hit after that. We fished oswego in the same depths did good west of the breakwalls.
  16. you cant get 2 small 22 inch trolling bags. thats what i do. I tried using 1 big drift sock and it worked but was hard to steer and impossible to leave the wheel while trolling but i picked up 2 22" drift socks from cabelas for like 20 dollars each.
  17. I have plastic scotty rod holders on my boat and they hold up fine just make sure they are completeley in place before puttin a rod in under pressure of a dispy set your drag loose so it pulls out line when you get a bite and not the rod [ Post made via Mobile Device ] [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  18. you can just drop it in the water and start it up. I just let it warm up real good and listen for anything not running right and turn on the bilge if there is any water in the boat to get it out and i like to take it for a good long ride and burn up the gas. I gradually ease it to full throttle and run wide open for a bit and work the steering wheel back and forth to make sure it is working good.
  19. I have been looking at this too and using it with a pro troll or controll king digital throttle controls wich ever is the one with the steering option. I'm picking up a new kicker this week and I'm gonna ask the guy at obersheimers in buffalo his opinion on this and if it is some worth while info ill pass it on pros and cons. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  20. i use the okuma magda 30's and 45's theyre alittle bit but i use them for salmon too but the lc 27s will work fine
  21. Ill be fishing in olcott Saturday maybe ill be able to swing by wilson after fishing and meet you. Hammered the browns on that monkey puke spoon I picked up from you I'm gonna try the gobys this weekend out deep [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  22. i have a 40 lb thrust minkota edge that i bought new for 130 at gander on clearence with a damaged box and it works great for me in the lower river on my 17 ft aluminum
  23. i think im gonna get the troll master digital throttle control pro 3 model that has the steering option and get the servo motor to control the engine in a few months. i think using that remote would be easier than going back nd forth to the wheel while setting lines and reeling in fish it can be used with the linkage so i could use both at the same time.
  24. Ill definitley get the digital throttle control. I will probly end up with the linkage bar to both engines. I saw on the trollmaster or controll king with the option to use them to steer the motor seems like a nice feature...expensive but didn't know if it was a good investment. Aslo what kind of mounting bracket do you have the motor clamped onto or it is clamped right on the transom. Mine is going on a 17 foot aluminum.do kicker motors drive fairly straight or if you leave the wheel for a minute and the boat spins around. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
