  1. Lots of boats in 450-500 on Sunday. We did 5-6 in that water. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Whaler and I decided to try the oak this morning. This was my 1st time ever at the oak and I am glad he mentioned it. We launched around 5:45 and fished till 12:30. Started in 100 and worked to 500. We went 5 for 6 with 3 kings and 2 bows. Best water was 450-480. Biggest was around 22. Fat Nancy flasher/ fly, wonder bread spoon, uv 2 face spoon took fish on the riggers. 225 and 240 dispeys both took fish with SD/flys. Only rod that did not fire was carbon 14 spoon. No pic of whaler’s big king since I messed up the net job. Kinda of embarrassing on my part but Bill was good about it. Great day with good company. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Nice job. Whaler and I fished out of the oak today and 465 was best water for us. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Took some friends out for sunset trip. After talking with Whaler I decided to go to Sandy instead of genny. Set up in 100 around 5pm and headed NW towards the nose. 50 degrees was down around 70. Worked from 90-170. Marked some bait here and there and a few fish but nothing exciting. Got to the nose and turned around and headed back towards the creek. Around 8 pm there was a quick rip on 70 rigger but gone in seconds. About 10 minutes later same rigger releases but nothing. I said 8:30 we are gonna pull lines. 8:25 the same rigger fires again, I grab the rod and finally this one is hooked. Told my buddy and his wife one of them needs to fight it. He took the rod since she was relaxing in the bow. Put up a nice fight as sun was going down. Not a big one but better than nothing. All 3 hits on fat Nancy flasher with green attomik fly on rigger down 70. Only saw 1 other boat besides a cargo ship. Rick Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. I was out on 7/21 with the fire boat doing training and asked why the launch was so bad. Was told the DEC would not let West Point remove all the weeds they cut and they have collected at the launch. Rick Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. Took some guys from FD out and 1 guy brought his 13yo son. Was greeted with major debris in and in front of the river. Headed out to 100fow and went on a NW troll. 2 wire dipseys and 2 riggers stacked. 1st fish was on wire diver set 210 with white SD/ hammer fly. We let the youngest have that king. 2nd fish was 26lb king on rigger parked at 69 on mag carbon 14. We let the oldest fight that one. 3rd was another king on 210 dipsey, let kids dad have that one. Finally my turn. 4th was a bow that took a wonderbread spoon stacked on probe rigger down around 50. Jumped a few times but got it in quick and quick release so no pic. Headed east back towards the river and buddies son got his 2nd fish of the day which was a laker. Called it a day after that. The youngest and oldest both caught their biggest fish today. Not as calm as I would like but better than working. Worked 100-175, temp was 70 down. Rick

  12. Took my brothers from the fire dept out of the river. Fished 7am- 10:30. Worked 100-215. Closer early and deeper later. Started out bad with 2 quick dispey hits but gone before anyone could get to a rod. Then rigger hit and gone. After that the fish cooperated. Lost one more after a few minute fight. Ended up 5-9. All kings and a nice bow. Buddy caught his biggest fish and then beat that with a 22 pounder. 50 degree water was up higher than Thurs. 60 foot down today compared to 90 on thurs. Best was wire diver out 210 with gold 42 SD and atomik fly. 2nd was fat Nancy flasher/atomik fly down 60 on rigger. No spoon hits today. Happy 4th!! Rick Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  15. Took 2 guys out and left the dock at 6am. Worked 100-220. 1st fish was on rigger down 80 over 200. E chip / fly, fish came unbuttoned only to find out the fish bent the treble hook bad on the fly. Next 2 were a double on aerobatic bows that crossed lines but we landed both. 2 more small kings and 2 more bows. Fished 5 rods and they all took fish. Fat Nancy e chip with green hammer fly took the most fish and the biggest with NK 28 black front with yellow tape with white back came in 2nd. Same NK but Mag took a fish. Riggers out produced wire dipseys today which is rare for me. Wires were at 210 and 240. Riggers were down 80, 75, 60. 50 degree water was down 80 for us over 200. Best day for 2021 for me. Good luck out there! Rick Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  17. I have always done A. When a fly gets really bad I will double it up with the same fly. Makes it bushier. Maybe I have been doing it wrong but A has caught lots of fish for me. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  19. Originally I commented on what you asked about using the ones you had but I have to agree with the group on it you have the option I would install a track with good rod holders. I have Bert’s track on my boat and still put a plate underneath for extra strength. I have cannon dual axis rod holders for dipseys as love them. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Can you reach under the gunwale? If so I would get a metal plate cut the same size and the rod holder base. Clamp the plate to base and drill holes through the plate using the holes on the rod holder. Put rod holder where you want it and drill though the gunwale and using stainless bolts, washers and locking nuts attach the plate underneath the gunwale. Thicker the plate the better. This is what I did with my tracks on my boat. Dipseys rods have a lot of pressure on them. Maybe someone else will have a better idea. Any questions message me. 21. Took 2 guys out this morning. Was greeted with NE winds like predicted. Love how the new boat handles rough water. Fished 6-10. Worked 70-200 with 75 being best water. Went 1-4, with all flasher fly hits down 50-65 over 75-80. 1 guy was happy with a fish and other just likes driving my boat. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Took some buddies out and fished same waters as Whaler. 90-500. Marked a few fish and very little bait. Best screen was in 90. Had 1 rigger release on a spoon down 64 over 250. Guys had fun but a few fish would have made it better. We did have a guest out in 450. Still better than working. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. No luck out of Sandy. Worked 165 to 80. Very few marks and bait. Marked some bait and fish in 30 Fow but we were headed in. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. I will be out of Sandy on Sunday. Give me call Whaler if your out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  25. I would always use the bend in the dipsey rod as my guide. Worked for me until I spent the money on the fish hawk. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
