  1. I just bought the helix 9 and love it. Yankee Troller is very helpful with questions about Humminbird Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. I took a day off from salmon fishing to take wife and kids bass fishing. Tried Watoma shoals with no luck. My odds are better at catching salmon then bass. I hear they are big but you might catch a few instead of a lot. Guy at the dock said he caught some in Braddocks. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  4. Took some buddies out 4-8pm. Started out bad with wire dispey hit that got tangled with rigger rod.. Lost the fish, and a fly. Had to cut out some wire and mono and tie some swivels. While trying to untangle that mess dipsey on other side got tangled in other rigger rod. Current seemed to be going north. Switched to a 4 rod spread and buddy landed 1 on dipsey. Lost another one on rigger. Had a few other dispey hits that were short. Few spoon releases but nothing. Fished 100-130. 49 degree water 92 over 112. I didn’t land the fish, I just had my picture taken before it went into the live well. SD/fly continues to out fish spoons for me. Buddy lost 2 fish and was driving during both tangles so he got his balls broken. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  6. Since I had 2 kids and 1 being new to fishing I stayed deeper than I would like but with some rough waters I figured away from the pack was better incase the kids needed to take the wheel at some point. Worked 200-300 from 5:30-till 10ish. 3 dinks on wire dipseys (SD/Fly) 210 out with 2 setting. Biggest came off rigger down 70 with flasher fly. Poor netting by me caused it to get away. Son was not happy with me. Some fish is better than no fish. Congrats to Whalers son for landing a nice one. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  10. Renting a house with the family on Honeyoe for a week and was wondering if anyone would share any tips so my kids could catch some bass and pike. Any certain spots, depths and lures to use? I only know about using plastic worms around the docks. Can you catch walleye there during the day or night and where? Thanks for your help! 12. Fished 5:30-10:30. 6 rods set. 2 dipseys and 2 stacked riggers. Started in 120 and had a triple 10 minutes in. Landed all 3. 2 small kings and average steele. Quiet for little while till we headed out to 240. Landed biggest of day at 240. Landed some more on our way out to 300. Headed back in a picked away at them. Landed 7 and lost 2. No pics of the smaller ones since I unhook them in the water. All flasher fly bite for us on wire and riggers. No spoon bites. Wires at 150/175 then 200/210. Riggers 65,60,50,45. Glow early and flash later. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Gotta start by thanking Bill (whaler1) for hooking me up with great info. Took 2 past co-workers from Kodak out. We set up near Bill around 4pm in 150 and fished out to 220. Best water was 150-170. 50-70 down. Lost rainbow in 1st 15 minutes on wonderbread spoon. Had a lot of releases on spoons but no hook ups. Around 6pm things heated up. Starboard dipsey w SD/fly fires and we lost a good one. Fires again and my buddy landed that one. As I was setting that back it fires again with only 60 on the line counter. I let the other friend land that one. Little bit later the port dipsey goes. Buddy fights that one for little while and loses it. It was a good fish. As I am setting that back the other dipsey goes again. I fought that one and landed it. I released that fish but buddy wanted the other 2. Buddy had 45 ride home and we had fish so we left lake little early even though fish were hitting. Well getting home early didn’t work out. As we entered Braddocks there was a bayliner boat with 3 younger guys flagging people down. I decided to swing by since other boats kept going. They needed a tow. So we towed them to the dock. Nice kids and very appreciative. So night was longer than expected but productive. I ran 2 dipseys at 150/175 on 2.5 setting with SD/flies. White/blacks. Green flies. Stacked 2 riggers with wonderbread spoon, NK 28 black/white on 1 rigger and 10” SD with herring cut bait plug in place of meat on deepest rigger with 2 face spoon stacked above. No hits on cut bait plug. The current was pretty strong. Fish Hawk was reading 3.0 but boat was barely making any ground going west to east. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  19. Took wife’s friend and her husband out. She wanted to catch, clean and cook a salmon. She has never caught anything bigger than a pan fish. After a 30 minute fight she landed her 1st king. Husband landed a small rainbow. Lost a big one early that broke the treble hook on a fly. Then I lost a screamer at the end that threw the hook. She joked around how she landed her fish and I lost mine. Was nice to be out. Fished 120-150 east of bradocks away from the group 6-10:30am. All fish came on wire dipseys SD/Fly 210-225. 25. Took my boys out for 1st trip with the new boat. Looks calm but there was some nice rollers early. Went from 3:30-6:30. Stayed around 230 entire time. 1 on wire out 240 SD/Fly. Lost bigger one behind the boat. Wonderbread spoon on rigger down 65. Still getting used to a kicker and new riggers. Had 50 degree water down 65 over 230. Marked some fish but trying to figure out settings on new Helix 9. Couldn’t mark riggers. If any one has any Helix Gen3 setting tips please share. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
