  1. Rich L. I used the #19 bands at .005" gap. Worked great. Wound the bands on the reel so they were already in place for the next release after landing fish! Awesome!
  2. I know to the average guy welding seems like it would be the most robust, permanent fix, and that some manufacturers boast their welded boats to be better when actually they are doing it to quicken production and reduce cost. For them to make these welded boats as strong as riveted boats they have to use thicker alumin to get the strength of the riveted boats which negates some of the light characteristics of alumin and they can't take advantage of some of the alloys that are put into some of the riveted sheetmetal hulls for extra strength because they are unfavorable to welding. Alumin aircraft are riveted together because it's strength and flexibility. When damaged, their hulls are never welded, always riveted or riveted and bonded. If you have a riveted hull fix it with a riveted sheetmetal patch. If it's a welded hull surely weld it. This of course is if you have to have it spot on correct. Sometimes it just doesn't matter and what ever gets you on the water fishing fastest is the answer!
  3. Went west and couldn't find stained water. Slow day, went 5 for 6. Copper Storm and blue orange Smithwick Rogue did it. One pretty small Rainbow released for another day!
  4. Wow! That's some great fishing Yankee! One time, back in the day on the south end of cayuga the Bagleys were my dom. stick as well. Will have to try them next Lake O trip!
  5. I heard that the more fishy smelling hands that Bazooka Joe has, The Happier he is! That's why he loves cutbait!
  6. Study this Forum. It is a plethora of info. The old adage of "We didn't have this stuff years ago" gives you tunnel vision and no room to grow. We didn't have Zebra mussels and Flies and gobies and the Smelt population was better. In Evolution the ones that adapt, improvise, and "EVOLVE" are the ones that survive. In retrospect also be a pioneer and think outside the box as well. Fish Hawk X4 is my best tool I’ve bought in a long time that increased my catch in summer 300%!
  7. I haven't done well in the past when trying to catch Spring browns in clear water. What are your thoughts on this?
  8. I bought these for pulling copper but I ran out of pinch releases last week and was using these for Browns with the mono slipped in the release. I had a hard time dialing them in. Guys that use rubber band! What size bands do you use in clippers for browns and what size for copper? I put the power pro direct in the clipper last year but didn't love it!
  9. Mechanically etch it with 80grit so that the adhesive can get a bit, and clean it well with thinner. Stop drill the ends of the crack. Mechanically etch and clean a patch of roughly the same thickness of the parent metal. Bevel patches edges. Bond it on with epoxy adhesive and secure with structural blind rivets. Pull rivets dipped in epoxy. Skidoo shops have nice structural blind rivets used on thier tunnels. Note that alum. sheet metal has grain to it. Position the patch so that the grain goes across the crack.
  10. Ya. I feel a little stupid that I didn't hear or feel that Flat. Rim is ruined! The spare we finished the trip with is from 1989. I bolted and locked that ol spare on there in 1999. I couldn't believe I had the key on my key chain 3 vehicles later. Squaring that up today. Got home and the boat was 4 inches back from nose block. Strap broke. Obviously I thanked the Good lord after this trip! For the record we had 4 doubles and 2 that yanked it out of my hand while trying to place in release
