  1. ]The new drags worked great after 7 days of fishing. I ended up liking the Dry non greased drags best but both were smooth. The dry required less tension dialed in to gain the same amount of resistance. Here is a video of a 29.10oz salmon screaming drag on a dry set up. Notice the "D" written on the reel. This was so I could easily compare them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzsg6bLgZmw
  2. Yes 1989! I would have invited you up but both Solos were decided last minute as guys I had lined up canceled!
  3. 23Aug. 9 for 10 with Nephew Chas. Ran straight out to 550ft as so many have complained of a late start to staging kings. We boxed 4 teens and 2 Steel. We did have a double on divers equipped with Green dot Pro Echip/ Atomik Ultra Green glow on one side and NBK pro echip/Ultra Green glow on the other. Bullfrog pro echip and Atomik Ultra green glow on a rigger produced a teen and so did an green dot SD with Big weinies Ronns Morning wood in tow. Chas also landed a double on one rod and we let 2 Steels go. Stingray size Orange Tux Stinger on a free slide as well as Finger Lakes tackle Chicken feed scored Steel. I had my 1st Chummer aboard the Buckboardjr. When he decided to Hurl I thought it was a fake one, it was so loud. Being down wind convinced me of it’s authenticity! 24Aug 4 for 6 Solo. Went deep again. It was a hot one. I threw everything at them. Boxxed a 19lb Mature on the buufrog/fly, 8lb Steel on the FL Chickenfeed, and a teen on the Bullfrog/fly. Released one Steel from a 400 copper with a FL bullfrog spoon Check out the You tube vid how I fish Solo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlB2U0AZ2N0 25Aug 5 for 7 Solo. Decided to start in 250FOW and work out. I started marking fish down 150 so I dropped one rigger down there. It went off with what seemed like no one there but I had a slider on it. I reeled like a bastard and then bam she took off. Got a nice teen king on a Sea sick waddler mag spoon. Set back up and that rod starts throbbing again in 400FOW. The Sea Sick waddler in free sliding cheater mode produces a nice football shaped Brown. I let him go and re set as I am noticing the temp coming up. The Dreen dot SD/Rons morning wood fires in 450 and I take another Teen king. By the time I set back up the temp comes up to 35 ft down For the next 2 hrs I work out to get the temp down futher. With the Bullfrog parked at 35 ft down in 50* and 634FOW It takes off screaming. Once on the rod I hold the mic up to the Sceaming reel and say “Hear that fellasâ€! a little later a 22 lber hits the deck. I keep trolling out and temp finally gets down 55ft in 694FOW and the Green dot SD/ Rons Morning wood fires and I land a aprox 18lber and release. Then in 700FOW a dandy Steel hits the Orange TUX slider and dances 3 time before spitting it at me. 26Aug 6 for 9 with camping neighbor and new friend Allen. Went to boat launch at 5am and Bro Inlaw was a No show no call . I ran back to camp and grabbed the neighbor who had been drooling over the previous days fish and so much wanted to go. We headed out and didn’t set up in 650FOW till 9:30. Port Diver takes off set at 170 and comes off after a short battle. Then it goes off again. Allen lands his 1st teen. Then the center rigger goes off on the free sliding FL Chicken feed and gets off. I configure the Starboard Dipsey with a Pro Echip/Atomik fly and both Divers go off. Allen nets mine while he puts his in the rod holder which his fish is still on after my netting but later comes off. Next comes a nice 10lb Steel on the Orange Tux. Now Temp again came up to 45ft down. Now the port rigger rod trips and Allen is on it. No one appears home and I yell “Reel, Reel fast†Then it takes off. A monster hit the free sliding Orange Tux Stinger spoon somewhere between 0 and 45ft down over 690FOW at high noon.. Check out the tail end of the “Scream†on the vid. It weighed 32.5 on the boat but we took it to Screwy Louies and it was 29 10 oz after 5 hrs in cooler. NO NOT IN DERBY! It would have been 3rd at that time. Next missed another on Chicken feed. Then I took a steel on SD/ Beotch fly. Then another Steel on Orange Tux released. Here's a vid of the ride in after an awesome day out deep:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zLJfgcBrSw Scream vid:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzsg6bLgZmw 27Aug. 7 for 9 with Bazooka Joe Started in 550FOW and as I let the Bullfrog/UltraGlow Fly down it reased as if I thumbed it to hard. I said to myself, “Self, You didn’t thumb that HARD AT ALL†Then off to the races, Screamer. In a bit a nice mature 15lber hits the deck. Next Joe takes a teen on a small sea sick waddler on a slider. Then the 180 diver goes off Green dor Pro e/ ultra grnglow teen hits the deck . Then I pop a laker off the diver. Then Joe lands a teen on a wht/grn SD/fly 70ft dwn over 710FOW. Tne a 5 an 11lb Steel on the Orange TUX. Then missed one on the Bullfrog rigger and on the 130 diver. 28Aug. Snotty Seas I cooked a big Breakfast then a Feast on a wood fire of Lemon Garlic marinated Ribs, Yellow and Zuc squash from my garden, Corn on the cob in the husk. All good 29Aug 5 for 7 with Bazooka Joe. Started in 250 and worked out as temp came up but we thought it would go down. Finally in 650 FOW cheater go and Joe lands a nice 13lb steel and right after I get an 8 lber. We end up trolling 18.4 mile away from Fairhaven in search of Down temp. We were 6 miles from the water border and 24 miles from Canda land. 2 skippys and another steel released. 30Aug. 3 for 4 with AJ from work. We go out right in front in 125FOW and people are hooking up all around us. The wind is ripping our faces off and every 3rd wave is splashing over the bow. I feed it to them for 4 hrs without a hit while watching everyone hooking up. I was stunned. Then finally went 3 for 4 all matures but on the small side.. This last day beat the fishing out of me and I pulled the plug early on my trip. All and all was a great trip.
  4. Nice Job. I had my 1st Puker on board this week. He hurled so loud I thought he was kidding but it was a real hurl! Luckly it calmed down and we limited out!
  5. I like a pair of F'Flys on the outer riggers and a sppon down the mddle above and dropped back. FFs draw the fish in and if they are leary they take the drop back easy pray spoon. Sometimes I'll run that spoon below and dropped back as well>. Spin Docs, Pro Es with Atomik and Bg weinie Flys have put 80% of my majors in the boat!
  6. WTG SK8man.Gotta love ice cream and beer after a day on the water. I bring a 5 cu. ft freezer on my fish/camp trip just for ice cream! Did you run flea flicker or Sea flea on your riggers? and how di it fair? I spooled 3 rigger rods with sea fee and it sounds like I did the right thing. We will see this weekend!
  7. That's what I'm Talkin Bout. Nice job on the triple! My last double screamers on divers HURT!. Only got 1 though! I'll be up Sat. morn for 9days. Whoop Whoop!
  8. If Fixed, I use a rubberband half hitched to the line, then put your cheater snap swivel around the line like you would for a slider, just above the rubberband, then include the tag end of the rubberband in the snap before snapping it.Woorks great when you want to mupp a spoon above a F/F or spoon
  9. I spooled 3 reels with Sea Fee for this next trip just in case as my last trip saw the worse I've ever seen on the last day. $13 worth of insurance.
  10. SK8man, Yes 3 of the reels the washers were trashed, 2 not so much. Thun good to know on the Penns. When I set myself up with coppers I bought 6 Penns but they are brand new. Probably won't need antthing for 20 years.
  11. Good to know next time I gotta terminate a DWN Rig cable!
  12. That easy knot works for me all the time. You probably had a kink. I've played roulet with known kinks before and learned the hard way.
  13. Nice catch fellas and thanks for the report. I'll be out of Fairhaven starting 23Aug for 9 days.. How deep were you running your program?
  14. I sure hope you're running slider cheaters with spoons on them. Those waters are infested with Steelheads. Don't be shy, put a cheater on every rigger bow line.
  15. These Great Lakes 47LC reels I tore apart were excellent to brand new looking inside. I have 9 of them and bought them all for $25 -$41 ea. tops, to my door used, from my cousin, Ebay, Craigslist. Some I have had for 15 years. I have never had a failure. The bodys fade bad and they look ugly so I buffed one out with tooth paste and it looked almost new. That can be a winter project. I think the new drags will really show thier value when running 12lb. leaders in the spring as I have lost a few stickbaits in the past to sticky drags then.
