    Sodus Bay

I've caught many large pike and muskys on 2-2.5 fathead minnows and bit off even more times. Big pike will hit ittsy bitsy bait. Nice job on Perch gear!
  2. My Grandpa and uncles who hung cows and pigs by the hind legs did it to bleed them out and also to halve them, but their deer they did not, do to the fact that they have bled all they are gonna in the field, and they weren't gonna halve them. Also less hair on the hind quarters hung by the head. Though I wasn't alive when this picture was taken, these are the men who taught me.
  3. This was Holloween evening. Both Boilerroom hits with Manus stingers shot out of my Switchback xt. 20 and 50 yrd recoverys. 21 yrd shots Oh and a doe with the car. Total 100.5 lbs of boneless!
  4. I've been hunting everyday this week and as I read this I'm starting to itch all over thinking I got one on me. Will have to do a thorough check when I get home today! Ickky bastards.
  5. Yep every trip to Fairhaven I stop and at least buy a token spoon or fly. On long trips they usually bail me out on a major broken/ lost item and are so convenient. I blow right through Auburn almost every time and don't blink an eye at Bass pro!
  6. Niced Going Guppie Killer! I knew there should still be mature kings in the lake .!
  7. Way to capitalize on the late return. I'll bet there is more to come.
  8. Very cool story! I once caught a fish in the Ausable River MI. and my hook was through the eye of another hook that had been broken off in that fish. I even had a hard time getting my hook out of the eye of the other hook.
  9. I'm with ya Popeye, Being they didn't stack/stage in 150 FOW until 2 days before Labor day, I'll bet there is some good in shore lake fishing to be had yet
  10. Me and Ma Kettle are routing for yas. Be sure to report and include Kinger in pics per Ma Kettle!
  11. Thanks for the clarification Sk8man but the 1st year I went to wire I lost 3 fish/fasher/flys with the 30 lb Ande Pink mono between diver and flasher so I went to 50lb big game and it solved it. My rational on it was that having that super heavy deeper diver between the fish and the drag on the initial run gave the fish a split second to pull above 30lb before actually releasing drag. Now with Carbon drags and the rubberband hold trick I could probably go back to 30 but I probably won't.
  12. So Sk8msn! Can you Please Clarify this? Do you tie a 30lb leader to your wire, then attach that to your dipsey, and then 50lb Big Game, and then flasher fly? Sorry but I still couldn't clarify THAT in your last 2 replys!
  13. Oh Chas, I agree that that is where all the stress is but SK8man starts out with: then he states he uses 50lb. between the diver and the flasher: and his reason is that he is OK to loose Diver and F/F rather than have wire break. But I could be wrong.
  14. I was sharing info with a guy that has been fishing lake O for prob 40 yrs. I was getting lots of fish on slider/cheaters and he asks me on the radio if I thought he could use sliders on his "WIRE". I rolled my eyes and thought Oh Jeez, This guy should know better as I thought he was talking Diver wire rods. Later that night at camp more details came out and he was running wire on his rigger rods and said that he did it to duplicate the "WIRE ON FIRE" signature associated with wire diver rods that causes more fish action. Most of the week my program out performed his, but the last day when the salmon finally stacked/ staged in 130-160FOW his program kicked my butt!. SO, does anyone else have some time spent running wire rigger rods? If so what's your take?
  15. 50! I learned the hard way with lots lost on 30lb! So SK8man, it sounds like your set up is this: Wire, 30lb. leader,Diver, 50lb. leader, Flasher, leader&Fly! If so that is interesting. Let me know if I got this correct as I had never heard of anyone tying a leader to the wire before the diver unless they were doing the slide diver program!
  16. I was just looking through old posts and found this. Thanks Cuz
  17. I kind of don't get it. With all the information starting in the spring of how cold it was last winter and how every aspect of the season was about 3 weeks late, why people aren't just embracing it and targeting them as such. Hell people were calling off the season and pulling boats Labor day weekend. Fish didn't stage in #s out of Fairhaven till 2 days before Labor Day. I'd have to say there is some prime time lake fishing to be had now and there aren't a lot of people out there in the game. I'd be after them if I hadn't just got operated on. Go Get um fellas!!!
  18. I have one of these as a kicker on my boat and it only uses 1.6 to 1.8 Gal of gas in 8-9hr of trolling a 19.5 ft boat. Will pay for its self in gas and wear and tear on main motor. IS this a Long or short shaft?
  19. After all this data you would think the conclusion would be 30lb mono of choice. It holds up to black releases, does well with fleas and can be easily tied bulletproof with a palmar knot quick and easy. Leader it down for spoons, spring browns or for what ever stealth reasons you want. Double uni knots have been bulletproof for me when leadering down. I am partial to Ande pink. I have a monster spool of 30lb that I bought in 99 that I keep in a paper bag that I respool with. Some of my rods haven't been repooled in 4-5yrs and it hasn't degraded.I did tie on 200ft of Blood run sea flee for this last trip on 3 reels and it performed well.
  20. If in a turn and they hit, Immediately, if you can, crank hard back to your original course and this can keep a mess from happening. It has for me!
  21. Sea Mist and our boat caught 3 big matures on sliders this last trip. This big boy hit our fav. Steelhead spoon somewhere between the surface and 45ft down over 600plusFOW. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/46924-fairhaven-buckboardjr-23-30aug/
