  1. Sad news. Sorry for you and his family. We all have had good times and bad times fishing with our buddies. It's the memories and spending time together that keeps them in our thoughts forever. I also have an older fishing partner that is getting up their in years now and is slowing down. It breaks my heart that someday its going to come to an end. It really makes me appreciate our time together now. I have made friends with a family in the campground we stay at in the spring. I noticed this year their dad wasn't there this year. They said he had passed and they almost didn't come up this year. They then told me they changed their minds when they said dad didn't start us doing this as a family to stop when he was gone. None of our buddies would ever want us to stop doing what we love when they are gone. So for Bob and all our friends and family that are no longer with us. Let's keep fishing and making memories in their honor. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  3. I have a 23' Chaparell with the same engine. Had the same issue. Like the others said, the Amish Outfitters beefy bags work great. They are well made and hold up well also.Get one for each side. Depending wind and current sometimes you only need 1. With 2 out again depending on conditions I can get down to 1.7 on the fish hawk. I think I have the 22 inch bags. The 22 or 28 inch should work fine for you. Good luck. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Nice job!! It's a great day when everything works. Makes us look like pro's. Congrats!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. We got a late start today. Southeast wind then became southwest. Water was ok to about 30 fow or so then it got rough. Couple of missed hits then the kings were hungry. We got 5 in about an hour. 3 came as a triple. What a fire drill. Managed to get all 3. The one was 20 lbs. All were caught in 20-25 fow. Stinger and dreamwever spoons in a blue and green combination was best for us.That's when the wind really started ripping. Slow day turned into a great day. 6. Another tough day on the lake. Marked fish around different areas but no takers. We managed to get a 16 lb king and 6 lb brown. Beautiful day on the water just not for catching fish. It still better than working. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  8. Went 5 for 6 yesterday. 4 nice kings and a real nice steelhead. Chartreuse and green worked best for us. Spoons took most. Best fishing was right at the end of the chute. The fog was real thick by the end of the day. Still thick this morning. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  11. Nice to hear their are some kings coming into the shallow water again this year. We had a great time catching kings last spring. I guess they are liking eating gobbies after all. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. The best lube for O rings is Jacks Lube. You can get it from Amazon. You shouldn't use petroleum based lubes on O rings. It breaks them down prematurely. I was informed about opening the probe also. I open my probe almost every trip. I noticed you do get some condensation in there so I just open it and let it sit in the cabin open till the next trip. 13. Thanks for the report. My buddies and I are coming up in 3 weeks. We are from southern PA so we don't get up there as often as we like. We are looking forward to joining you out there.
  14. The schute has been the same for the 25+ years I've been going to Fair Haven. Everything needs repaired eventually. What will this do to the boat traffic this season? Will they have to close the schute to repair it?

  16. Hi everyone, I've had my eye on a 2006 Sea Pro 238 walkaround. I was wondering if anyone has one or if anyone has any knowledge about these boats. It has a 2006 Yamaha TXR 250 4 stroke on it with about 1400 hours. I've had I/O's for a long time now and not sure what to be concerned about or ask about this engine. The dealer has a report or print out from the engine computer he's sending to me with service records he performed on this unit. I would appreciate any input everyone has. Thanks
  17. I thought the same thing treerat. Bought one last year and it made a world of difference. Finding the right temperature was so quick and easy. When you change trolling direction was the biggest surprise. You can get right back to the speed the fish are wanting so much faster. Even the wife noticed how much more info it provided and admitted it was worth the money. That should be proof enough.
  18. Merry Christmas to you and your family Mr. Clean. Merry Christmas to all the folks in Fair Haven. Thanks for all the reports and great info throughout the year. Hopefully I will see some of you at the Niagra fishing show in January. Winter is just starting but it won't be long before we are all back out on lake Ontario going what we love. 23. Does anyone know how much backing to use on Okuma Convector 30's for 8 and also 10 color cores? I know I can load the leadcore and then fill the spool with backing and reel it onto another reel. Just thought someone might know and would save me a step. This will be my first time to fish kings in the summer. We have only fished the spring in the past. We will be headed up to Fair Haven in 2 weeks. Can't wait. Thanks
