  1. Here in PA our idiot governor Wolf has put wearing masks in stores and at work for everyone starting Sunday. We'll see how that works out. Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. We are over the worst it seems now. Couple more weeks I think we should start to get back to a new normal. I don't want to offend anyone on here but this keeping us out of state folks away to stop the spread is fine as long as it goes both ways. Here in PA where I live we have lots of essential jobs in warehouses and distribution centers. In the last month we have had hundreds of people from NY take jobs here and start living here. Like I said it works both ways. I have stayed home to do my part to prevent the spread. But in a couple more weeks or so I'll be heading up to do some fishing and support the local businesses that need our help now more than ever. It's not about catching fish. It's about coming up and spending time with friends that have become family and supporting the small businesses as I've done for over 25 years. I don't want to get anyone sick or get sick myself but if we aren't sick we should start getting back to work and living our lives soon. Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. I don't want anyone to get sick or god forbid loose their life from this virus. But the reality is most people will get it eventually. And like other viruses people will die from it. I wasn't in favor of shutting things down but it hasn't been as bad as I thought. I'm sure it's hit some people hard financially I really feel for those folks. It seems the shut down has had an effect on the spread of this thing. Now it seems like we are on the down hill side of this virus. My feeling now is its time to start getting back to some kind of normal. We all know it's not going to be the same as it was. Some things will change forever because of this. Will more people get sick? Yes. But that happens every year from the flu. Until their is a vaccine we will all get this like the flu. Most of us will be down for a week or so and then recover. If people are scared to get it or has a health issue that makes them vulnerable to getting critically sick then you should stay home and avoid exposure. Those folks can take advantage of the programs to get through this financially. But for the rest of us I think it's time to get back to work and back to living our lives. We could keep things shut down longer but how long is longer? A couple more weeks? Maybe another month or two? Or longer? My point is the "experts" say without a vaccine it could go on for a year or two with spikes and lulls until we all eventually get it. In my humble opinion I think we've done what we can to limit the initial spread of this virus. We are past the peak and it's time to get back to our lives. Happy Easter to everyone and your families. 4. Congratulations! It's a great feeling isn't it. I caught my first brown on Lake Ontario about 27 years ago. I've been addicted ever since. Now you will be addicted. Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. The Kings can't resist them in the spring! I just take a little mono off enough for 2 or 3 colors. I run them off the boards as usual. Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. The Greater Niagara Outdoor Show is a really good show for trolling and fishing lake Ontario and Erie and their tributaries. Many of us that love trolling the lakes have everything we need to do it. It is great to get out and see some of the new products and talk to people who love what we do as much as us. All the vendors and manufacturers reps are very helpful and willing to share their knowledge to make us better fishermen. The seminars are nice and informative. I always seem to pick up a trick or new technique with everyone I attend. I attended the salmon school on Saturday which is a wealth of information for trolling. The captains Andy, Pete and Matt do a great job explaining and showing us the techniques and tackle that works best for them. They also teach the best way to find the fish we are targeting mostly salmon and trout in many different lake conditions. And they make themselves available for questions during the salmon school and throughout the entire weekend. All in all it's a nice show and it gives us a nice weekend in the middle of winter to talk and think about fishing. Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I bought my Fish Hawk 2 years ago right when the depth feature was added. I had the same dilemma and went with the X4. It's a great unit and have not had a bit of trouble with it. I do however wish I spent the extra $150 for the X4D. I think it would make it easier to get down in the sweet spot sooner is all. Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Been fishing here in fair haven all week. Having good success in 100-150 fow. Best bite is in the morning and evening. Mid day the fish do scatter. But been finding bait balls in that 100-150 all day. Ventured out to 400 plus a couple days. Didn't mark much but did get a few out there. Have caught on meat rigs spoon and flies. Meat and spoons been best for me. Most fish have been in the teens but some big ones are there too. My partner boat got a 24 pounder this afternoon in 125 fow. Good luck. 9. Very calm today with no wind. Did well in close early 125 fow down about 50ft. Then they spread out. Trolled out to 400. Didn't mark much and picked up a double around 250. They hit on just about everything, meat, flies and spoons. Got pretty hot out there with no wind so we came in.
  10. Went 3 for 5 today. Fish seemed spread out. Didn't mark very many fish. I fished 150-220 fow. Down 70-85 was where we hit them. Water temp there was between 42-45. Not the best day but we caught a few. I'll keep trying.
  11. Thanks Mr. Clean for the report. I also am heading up tomorrow to fish all next week. Will post reports on how we do and where we find them. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  13. Great!! Glad you had a good day. One of my favorite spots down that end of the Jersey shore.
  14. Fished alot along the Jersey shore but not in that area. Take a ride down to the cape may inlet. On the north side you can access the jetty through the wildlife refuge. I have fished alot around that inlet and have done well. Bluefish, flounder, false albacore and other fish. You can fish anywhere along the rock jetty. The best fishing is usually 1 hour before the high tide to an hour after. But fish really like that inlet and you can usually catch all day. Be careful though the rocks can get slippery.
  15. Absolutely beautiful there. I'm heading up in 2 weeks. When we were up in the spring my wife took a picture of me looking out on the water from the porch. Posted it with the caption Bill in his happy place. It truly is. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Where at the Jersey shore are you Gill t? What inlet are you fishing? This time of year the rays are everywhere with the water warm. We call them cape may flounder [emoji4] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Great job on boating all 5!! Like p3434 said I thought a triple was crazy. I had one in the spring and can't imagine keeping them apart and netting all 5. That's a day of a lifetime. Congratulations[emoji106][emoji106] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Sad news. Sorry for you and his family. We all have had good times and bad times fishing with our buddies. It's the memories and spending time together that keeps them in our thoughts forever. I also have an older fishing partner that is getting up their in years now and is slowing down. It breaks my heart that someday its going to come to an end. It really makes me appreciate our time together now. I have made friends with a family in the campground we stay at in the spring. I noticed this year their dad wasn't there this year. They said he had passed and they almost didn't come up this year. They then told me they changed their minds when they said dad didn't start us doing this as a family to stop when he was gone. None of our buddies would ever want us to stop doing what we love when they are gone. So for Bob and all our friends and family that are no longer with us. Let's keep fishing and making memories in their honor. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. I have a 23' Chaparell with the same engine. Had the same issue. Like the others said, the Amish Outfitters beefy bags work great. They are well made and hold up well also.Get one for each side. Depending wind and current sometimes you only need 1. With 2 out again depending on conditions I can get down to 1.7 on the fish hawk. I think I have the 22 inch bags. The 22 or 28 inch should work fine for you. Good luck. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Nice job!! It's a great day when everything works. Makes us look like pro's. Congrats!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. We got a late start today. Southeast wind then became southwest. Water was ok to about 30 fow or so then it got rough. Couple of missed hits then the kings were hungry. We got 5 in about an hour. 3 came as a triple. What a fire drill. Managed to get all 3. The one was 20 lbs. All were caught in 20-25 fow. Stinger and dreamwever spoons in a blue and green combination was best for us.That's when the wind really started ripping. Slow day turned into a great day. 23. Another tough day on the lake. Marked fish around different areas but no takers. We managed to get a 16 lb king and 6 lb brown. Beautiful day on the water just not for catching fish. It still better than working. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Thanks Mr. Clean for getting it started!!! It's been great information for all of us that fish out of fair haven. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Went 5 for 6 yesterday. 4 nice kings and a real nice steelhead. Chartreuse and green worked best for us. Spoons took most. Best fishing was right at the end of the chute. The fog was real thick by the end of the day. Still thick this morning. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
