  1. You mean roemer releases? These clip to the rigger cable then your line goes in the trigger. I use the pinch pads with cheaters instead of stacking. Way easier and doesn't limit the number of poles I can run. If fishing 2 guys I run 2 riggers with cheaters, 2 dipsys and 2 coppers. If by myself I'll run 1 rigger with cheaters (2 usually), 1 dipsy and 1 copper. https://www.fishusa.com/product/Roemer-Releases?utm_source=google_ps&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google_ps&gclid=CjwKEAjw7J3KBRCxv93Q3KSukXQSJADzFzVSI36pU-l0-lHa4QgmUt8CnDDiCl25IFSdeCetLqFCkhoCJ0nw_wcB&utm_source=google_ps&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google_ps&gclid=CjwKEAjw7J3KBRCxv93Q3KSukXQSJADzFzVSI36pU-l0-lHa4QgmUt8CnDDiCl25IFSdeCetLqFCkhoCJ0nw_wcB
  2. I bought a set of 16lbs. torpedos from him. Great weights at a great price. I love the 16 pounders but my crew doesn't on the old manual riggers. I like harvey and being he is only 10 minutes from my house I would definitely buy from him again even if he was $10 more in price.
  3. Sometimes with the overt the counter seed mixes you'll get nettles. Try to find mixes without weed seed or buy straight seed from farm stores. It's a little more pricey but pound for pound you're actually getting what you want. This fall I need to find a place to get white clover to seed in the areas I'm looking to convert to plots. 4. Yeah that's what I figured. Haven't heard any in a long time though. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. Nice, full body mount on that one.
  6. They don't seem to mind the St. Lawrence and Ontario's water clarity. Those are the 2 main waterways I fish and both are extremely clear in the effect you can see fish in 20 fow with a set of cheap polarized glasses. Either way Seneca would be a prime candidate to stock eyes if they were to choose one of the fingerlakes. They aren't like lakers that like that cold water and with the amount and size of inlets on Seneca I don't think there would be an issue with them coexisting together.
  7. I bet they would probably eat less than lakers.
  8. So tonight I hooked up the old drag to the ATV and started working a spot I'm throwing some plot mix on just for this year. Well my pointer and weim were wandering around while I was out there and found a fresh fawn kill. My pointer actually brought me the fawns head and about 3" of meat and majority of the hide from the shoulders forward. It had a slight smell but it must have been killed last night no rigor mortis in the ears. A little in the jaw. Anyone know what kind of predator leaves the head and most of the hide? I will say I had some big bobcat tracks and one set of coyote this winter. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. Leadcore works on Onatrio as well but isn't ran as often because you can get just as good of results with the deep divers. No need to get real deep when fishing Ontario most fish are 30' or less on structure. I have ran my riggers with long leads in the 100' range and have taken some nice pike but no eyes.
  10. A buddy of mine that fishes Erie often and does well says the same thing. The tactics on Erie are completely different from what I have seen. You basically run shallow and deep divers all the time. Really no spoon bite even tipped, Dipsys and slide divers are a waste of time. The water is so clear up there you can be over 60fow with marks on the bottom and fish will come up to 15' or 16' to hit the lure.
  11. I don't use harnesses for that reason. There are a lot of perch and gobies up there and they usually take it before the eyes. Troll deep diver stick baits and find the bait. No bait usually no eyes.
  12. From what I have found there isn't a law against open container on a boat operator or not. Not that I condone it but just saying. You are correct you must be under .08 as the operator of the boat. Sorry to de-rail the thread gentlemen back to the regular scheduled program...
  13. I have been doing it all wrong. Thanks for the help!
  14. haha, that's okay by me what about PBR? I was a little worried as in the past we sometimes fished Canadian waters and always had beer on board when we went over the border.
  15. wait you can't have alcohol on a boat on the Canadian side? Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I fished the Sodus Pro/Am last year and found the same thing granted that is Mid July but the same tactics when we weren't getting fish. I pre-fished Tue, Wed, Thru, and Fri. I found fish all over the place. On Saturday 1st day of the tournament Lady O was pissed with 5-6 footers and rainy day in the A.M. I found a few fish early but they shut down in the afternoon. I worked the thermocline and did well. Sunday was a completely different story, dead calm flat as glass. The fish we caught were well below the thermocline way out of temp. we were pulling fish from 43* probe temp down 175' crazy deep but were catching some nice mid teen kings.
  17. Need a logo or a lake trout slamming a spin n glo would look cool. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Good price, I need a new boat but unfortunately I'm going plate aluminum so I can trailer around a little more.
  19. They also eat alewives, gobies, and saw bellies. Also have caught walleyes with bluegill and sun fish in their bellies. Pike? really? why would they do that compared to walleye?
  20. Yeah grabbing the snout and squeezing will usually get their attention along with the air supply. As bad as it sounds usually you can grab the ears behind the head and pull that works sometimes too. It's a scary thing if you have never witnessed it before. Like you said it happens in a blink of an eye and usually once you turn your back. I had to pull a pit off my dad's lab once when we were camping the only way to get it off was by the ears. The owner was pissed that I damn near yanked its ears off but I couldn't get him to let go. Nape of the neck and the ears was my only option.
  21. Sometimes they have fish kills where a bunch die from extreme temp changes.
