  1. If you don't think this is political/money based then you are blind. The only thing they have to redirect everyone towards is environmental/fishery impact that they keep referring to and trying to pass the blame.
  2. Really they should just grab a rookie deputy throw him on a DEC or USCG boat and have him write away. Give him the quick and dirty and how to write the ticket. I don't understand why DEC wouldn't write the ticket being they have just as much authority as the State Police.
  3. My buddy did real well on the browns with one over 15lbs. this week caught 6 more lost 1 and 1 bonus steelie. He was out of Henderson.
  4. I have a 2 speed on my boat, the fast speed is nice to take up the slack and get her close to the trailer then the slower speed makes cranking nice. I can usually just use the high speed setting on my bunk trailer. My boat is a 23' ProLine around 4800lbs. loaded with fuel, food, motors, gear. Here is the winch I use and have never had a problem pulling up my boat. http://www.seasense.com/products/trailer-accessories/index.html#!/2500LB-WINCH-W-STRAP-2-SPEED/p/59429866/category=16140753
  5. Man am I jealous, I can't wait to get on the water next weekend and memorial day weekend.
  6. This work for you? http://www.iboats.com/3-Step-Starboard-with-Right-Handle-Ladder-Black-Quality-Mark/dm/view_id.686559?mkwid=sXbh97CN0&crid=41829038899&mp_kw=&mp_mt=&pdv=m&cm_mmc=Google_Main-_-Mall+New+Shopping%3AGoogle-_-All+Products%3AMall+New+Shopping%3AGoogle-_-PLAs&gclid=CjwKEAjw9MrIBRCr2LPek5-h8U0SJAD3jfhtIMA1gnL8HchkoEFX4w-UuyAw5mZFWD9OiavBoIh00xoCFX7w_wcB Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Yeah i usually climb up and down on the swim ladder after someone pulls the boat out. Otherwise I have to climb down the winch, not easy or fun. No offense but how would you load by yourself without power loading? Would you take the death walk down the ramp and try to pull the boat onto the trailer while not trying to fall on the ramp? 8. Long point state launch and Chaumont bay public launch were open last weekend.
  9. Can you drop your tailgate to help you see? I can't tell if you have a bunk or roller trailer but if you leave the front of trailer out of the water slightly so the bunks/rollers are just below the surface of the water and power load you shouldn't need the guide-on posts in the wind. I power load whenever possible then I don't have to worry about cranking forever and helps a lot when it's windy out. Just line up bump the throttle so see pops onto the trailer then throttle up to the bump stop or close to it.
  10. Nice! How old is he? My son is a little over 2 and hoping I can get him out with me for a few hours at a time. Your son is obviously older but any tips or tricks?
  11. Get the riggers down and the harpoons ready! That mud line must be miles off shore.
  12. Nice job! I heard the fishing was tough but the weather was tougher.
  13. What he said. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Launches are usable but need hip waders to get onto the floating docks. The floating portion is fine just getting on is tricky. Water temp in the bay was 51* after all the rain.
  15. Minimum 9.9hp maybe even a 15hp. Can't go wrong with the Tohatsu motors same as the mercs for a lot less money. Yamaha I think makes their own kicker either way, I would be looking into a 9.9 at the smallest.
  16. How did you end up after yesterday? You try the areas I mentioned on the phone?
  17. Well unfortunately my crew all bailed on me for this weekend, looks like I won't be up for the opener. It will be the first one I miss in close to 10 years. A little sad about the whole deal but with the crap weather I'm not really too upset. O well, I'll have to hit it in a couple weeks.
  18. I demand they give me some to put on my garden, they make great fertilizer.
  19. That's a huge fish! Great Job! I remember spearing them in the overflow of our farm pond when we were kids.
  20. This was more my thought of the high water levels
  21. This is for all the toothy predators Anyone feel like all this extra run off is going to impact the future of the toothy predators? I hope the spawned eggs make it through this run off but it's not looking good for the future of these species.
  22. Very true, It's tough to see all this happening but there isn't much that can be done at this point. I'm hoping this years spawned walleye, pike, pickerl, muskie eggs make it through all this extra water in the tribs otherwise it will be tough fishing a couple years from now.
  23. You planning on making it up this weekend? Shouldn't have an issue launching at Bob's maybe have a tough time getting to the water without sinking out of sight.
  24. Hahaha it must have been tough keeping a straight face while typing that.
