  1. My father and were able to get out and pre fish before the Sodus pro am. I haven't fished kings this year but I have been watching the reports and did some research. The research wasn't much help but intuition was. We started in shallow the first day around 150' right out the chute and there was nothing but blank a screen which was the case for the entire tournament. So trolling in that 150 fow we found good temp down around 70' we threw a couple coppers (300 & 400) ran 2 dipsy and 2 riggers both dipsys and riggers one in the temp and one above. We had 3 nice fish hit the riggers on the 13th guessing kings in the 15-20lbs. Range based on the runs they made. Unfortunately none were boated. The 14th we were welcomed by rough seas but better fishing, we managed 1 king around 8 lbs. and 3 nice and 1 skippy steelhead. All fish I would have been happy to weigh in on Saturday. This time we were working a bit deeper in the 200-250 fow range down 70' again. We were running sliding cheaters which almost all the steelies came on. The 15th one of our fishing partners came up and we tried a brown program but 4 hours of not moving a rod it wasn't working, so we ended up going back out to tree deeper water. On our way out we had a monster king on came straight to the boat. I'm talking over 36" he got up to the side but was still really green I saw it heading for the side rigger cable and tried to scoop him with the net before he could get around it but managed to get tangled and popped the line. That ended up being or only fish that day. Now it's game day (the 16th) all the fishing partners are up and ready to rock we launch early right behind finders keepers (sweet looking boat by the way). We were greeted by some nasty wind with 4 footers easy and building throughout the day. We decided to hit 130 fow and look for fish heading north waiting for the 6:00am start time. We marked a few fish early and used the gps to set back up on them. Managed to get our first rigger down and the cheater and she popped with an 8 lbs. king, great way to start. My other buddy was seeing the other side rigger got it down and 5 minutes later we managed a 10 lbs. king. At this point we are thinking holy **** this is going to be a great day. Well that was when it all stopped we didn't boat our final fish until 1:00 and ended being our biggest at 12 lbs. Our day 1 total points were 60.90 and ended up placing us in 9th place. It wasn't what we were looking for but were happy to be towards the front of the pack. Last day of the tourney we had a beautiful day on the water little to no waves nice and sunny but fishing was tough we worked water that we didn't fish all week and it turned out to be a good decision. The temps were a little deeper 52° down 100-110 over 250-300. We fished hard and found our best fish in the deeper water we actually were pulling fish out of 43° water down 175' I could not believe it. We kept marking fish deep so we said screw it and dropped the riggers deep 175, 160, and the middle rigger left high at 100 for fish just above the thermocline. We managed to boat 4 good kings from 8lbs. to 16lbs. We would have liked 2 more good kings but decided to point the boat towards the chute and locked up 1 laker this left is with a 2 day total of 147.9 which landed us in 10th place not the finish we wanted but o well. Everything was a soon bite bloody death and sea sick wadler were our hot spoons all weekend. Sent from my thinking chair...
  2. Sweet we managed 10th place! Not bad for our first tournament our our first time fishing kings this season. We only fished kings and had a kicker laker on day 2. Thanks for posting Nick! Sent from my thinking chair...
  3. What weight copper are these? Sent from my thinking chair...
  4. Awesome! We didn't get skunked but broke off a really nice king after he tangle in our wire dipsy. Sent from my thinking chair...
  5. We had 49* down 80' over 200 fow. The temps are there but I couldn't see the thermocline on my graph.
  6. Had an awesome day we couldn't keep the steel off the lines. Caught 4 steelies and 2 kings. Kings were skippys but the steelies were decent 22"-27" and 5lbs.-12lbs.
  7. Today so far has been better got a steelie early followed by a juvenile king. Steelie took a spoon king took a ff. Sent from my thinking chair...
  8. My dad and I decided to take the next couple days and pre fish before the Sodus tourney. We went 0-4 2 fish were huge and fighting like no tomorrow. One came off then the other broke off. All spoon bite coppers were silent along with the dipsy rods. We managed 2 more hits on the riggers but once we reeled down no one was home. The lake was beautiful this afternoon but the fishing wasn't very good. Anyone else fish out of Sodus and struggle today? We worked water from 100'-250'. Sent from my thinking chair...
  9. If I already submitted my entry form before July 1st do I need to make out the shootout form as well? Sent from my thinking chair...
  10. That's a fish of a lifetime. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. You might need to call them when you're back out of the area and tell them you were on the U.S. Side. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. I'll download it this week thanks, I was going nuts trying to fine tune it do it would pick them up but not read them as bottom.Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. I'll take a look and see if they have something for mine. Thanks for the link.Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Check out fish USA they generally have good deals on them.
  15. Walmart sells them, my father in law loves them me not so much. For the price of those rods you can get nicer ones. I like the Okuma classic pro glt 8'6" medium action for riggers and 9' med. heavy for dipsys.
  16. I never had an issue with 50 lbs. Power pro and on my 4 season of this braid.
  17. It's definitely shaping up like there should be some nice kings this season. They aren't going to be in an abundance but should be around.
  18. I was thinking of doing that but figured that little line counter would be close. Live and learn!
  19. I did end up using the 30# backing but maybe my line counter is further off than I thought. I ended up using a Penn 30 warfare same specs add the Penn Squall.
  20. Thanks, if I make the board I'll be happy, top ten is icing on the cake!So that's what I have been doing wrong with my crew! Haha
  21. So I made up the 2 reels and the 300 fit perfectly but that 400 is now a 387 unless blood run puts more than 400' on their 400' spool. Also the haywire twist with the swivel and shrink wrap took up too much room and forced me to use an Albright knot. I tried to keep the reels as tight as possible but I think that 45 lbs. Takes up a little more room because it doesn't lay perfectly flat across the spool (each wrap right next to rack other but instead little gaps).
  22. Haha thanks, we are a pretty laid back crew I don't mind fishing in tough water obviously not enjoyable but that is usually when the fishing is the best. I haven't ever gotten sea sick not saying I won't but that stuff doesn't really bother me, makes me sleepy usually. You mean to follow out you or Rick you guys always seem to be on fish.
  23. Good thing I don't hunt state property, for those that thought it was crowded just wait. Another way for DEC to try and cull the deer herds because their 2 week no buck back fired. Joy, Can't wait to have nocturnal bucks during bow season!
