  1. My bird does a great job with the dual beam cone. I haven't had an issue putting fish on the ice and side by side marcum mine shows smaller jigs with less gain. You can keep your vex, it's all about the settings.
  2. I would say no they look the same age in both pictures, they do look like the same gene pool though.
  3. Saw that after i posted, guess I should have read a little further...Does it have a 6" brace height?
  4. Skipper everyone has bad shots you can't be too hard on yourself. I have been very fortunate to only wound 3 deer in the last 16 years of archery hunting. One was a high hit in "no mans land" the other 2 were unfortunately gut shot and none were recovered. I didn't let that stop me but it forced me to become a better archer, I still play out what happened in my head on all 3. the 2 gut shots I have no idea how it happened they were shorter shots within 30 yards maybe they took a step as I released I don't know. the high hit was because I didn't range the deer and thought a 30 yard shot was 40. 2 years ago I shot a nice 8 point that was looking straight at me I was trying to put the arrow at the base of his neck into his chest but hit high and directly in the spine folding the deer in his tracks and also hitting the main artery. Either way he didn't go far or move after the shot. You have to take the good with the bad. I have learned a lot with those 3 lost deer. I hate loosing deer half the reason why I don't do deer drives during gun season. I am looking forward to the upcoming season I have been thinking about since the end of July when the temps were in the middle 90s. I just kept thinking how nice it would be when the temps start to drop.
  5. I have to agree, I shoot out to 60, I have taken a deer at 50 in a field but I don't think I would attempt a 60 yard shot. My arrows loose too much energy at 60 for me to feel comfortable humanely taking an animal. My 60 yard groups get a little wider than my 20 or 30 yard groups but 20 and 30 are chip shots once you move back to 60. I also like how fast my bow seems at 20 yards and how slow it sounds at 60 big difference in time between the twang thud sound.
  6. I have the QAD HDx and love it. I had the ultra rest hunter grenade on me 2 years ago literally the day before I left for the northern zone early season. The only place that sold the QAD rests in my area had only the HDx in stock ($150). Long story short put it on, paper tuned it in the garage, shot 20 yards out back with the outdoor floodlights, everything was good up at 5am to hit the woods. QAD overnighted a replacement rest to where I was staying free of charge. Stand up company and a great rest.
  7. How much are the Raymarine ev 100 systems going for? I would imagine they aren't over $1000 EDIT: they went up a little butt can be had for $1200 I would highly recommend the hydraulic pump instead of the wheel drive. I can't hear mine over my kicker and even with the kicker off you can barely hear it and it's mounted right under the steering wheel. Sent from my thinking chair...
  8. I run 10' of 15# leaders and 30# PP main line. I find the fleas stay off the line better with the 30# PP than lighter line. I always just tie uni to uni and add a couple extra twists on the braid (8/10 twists). Biggest thing with light braid is to tie the leader on first and with the leader into the knot then tie the braid and do the same and pull together the whole tine with lots of spit. I have only had one break at the knot only because I was rushing and forgot to check it. Usually I just grab both lines and pull as hard as I can before the braid starts to cut me. I imagine it's close to breaking strength. Sent from my thinking chair...
  9. I fish in the Cape Vincent, Chaumont bay BRB and I too haven't caught many eyes under 24". This year on Chaumont bay was a first for me with an 18" skippy that went back.Sent from my thinking chair...
  10. I think a lot of eyes from Chaumont, brb, and quinte head into the river for the summer months and back into the bays and rivers in the cooler winter months to transition into the spawn for spring. I have chased eyes from all around and have followed them into the slr almost every year.Sent from my thinking chair...
  11. Ok I thought maybe it was just the prop, they offer lower pitch props but nothing with larger diameter and/or more blades. I would be going down 2" in pitch and .25" in diameter from what I currently have. Sent from my thinking chair...

  14. This is what I did with mine that wad giving me problems.Sent from my thinking chair...
  15. No feedback helm, it will slightly increase steering effort but worth the money in my opinion. Sent from my thinking chair...
  16. You can get that bottom paint that is hard and matched to the color of your hull. I would personally go that route. If I had no choice but to leave s fiberglass Boat in the water I would most definitely bottom paint my boat. Fiberglass is porous and not 100% waterproof the water will permeate thru the hull and saturate the glass if not painted/sealed. I think the hard bottom paint is an epoxy based. 17. Hey it's functional and gets you on the water. If you want to get a nicer finish that's what winter is for! Go fishing!!Sent from my thinking chair...
  18. Good to know, thanks for the help!Sent from my thinking chair...
  19. Right now my kicker can push my boat okay. I can get around 2.5mph at the ball going into 5'-6' waves. I'm not sure which direction the current is going but the boats sog is around 4mph maybe a touch faster. My motor doesn't seem to rev out in these conditions. I turn the tiller handle for more speed and at about 3/4 throttle to full throttle the rpm doesn't change. They make a prop that will allow me to go down 2" in pitch. Do you think I should leave it or go down in pitch? Chas Sent from my thinking chair...
  20. I think this is where the concern should be. I see every year people taking their limit of walleye in the 10lbs.+ Size.Ice fishing should be limited to slot not boat fishing. I usually fish more in the lake but the fish I catch are always in the bogey side and have only caught a handful in the last 10 years under 24" Sent from my thinking chair...
  21. For what it's worth it, you could buy another battery and 2 bank charger instead of buying a kicker if you can't justify the money. How much are you planning on trolling, only you can answer whether it will be worth the money. I would run no kicker for one season and see how much has you end up spending and use that number to figure out if it's worth the money. Depending on the lake conditions my 8hp Johnson pushes my 23' boat about 3-3.5 gallons for 8 hours of trolling this is a light 1'-2' chop. In a 4' chop going into and with the waves I can use 6 gallons in 8 hours. That still beats 9 gallons in 8 hours with my big motor. Don't convert that long shaft and run it see how it works and pushes the boat. Add the 2nd battery with 2 bank charger and hook up all the electronics to the non starting battery. This will isolate the big motor from any interference that could happen and won't drain your starting battery. Sent from my thinking chair...
  22. Thanks guys perseverance paid off and following that gut feeling the fish were deeper helped. We lost 2 dandy fish one after getting tangled into our dipsy and the other just came unbuttoned. The guys I was with couldn't believe the line the fish took. I think they are hooked on that sound of the drag ripping. Sent from my thinking chair...
  23. I have been running 30lbs. big game. Cheap and no fleas. Sent from my thinking chair...
