  1. WOW that is a pig and speed, that seems outrageous, but Justin couldn't said it better the 1.5-2.0 days are over, buy the way you got me by quarter lb. I have one mounted also 32" 12.75 lbs but that one came out of Canada, fly in trip June 13 1993. I still have dreams of that day, if we ever meet I'll tell ya the story.
  2. Kingslamon22 I was referring to the steering linkage, as he said his boat wheel turns a 1/4 turn before anything happens, OF course I got boat wander, I even made a post what to about it mines bad, I was told to add sea bags mid ship to pull the bow into the water more, as my engine weight makes the boat sit transom heavy and therefore bow light and tough to control. That's what I was getting at sorry for any misunderstanding. PAP
  3. I understand what you guys are saying you have to change tactics to catch walleyes, but in the mid 80's it was much better fishing, there where 5 guys at my house just talking about how it used to be, when the limit was 3 and it was nothing to catch your limit drifting around the buoys with 4-6# average. Here is what the officials didn't want the Water Town folks to know. In August 10 2005 they claimed a holding lagoon holding 3 million gallons of liquid manure blew out. The truth is the amount of manure was 8 million gallons. Two days later the toxic sludge traveled 20 miles from it's starting point at Lowville and made it's way into Lake Ontario and into the Black River Bay. Experts are estimating millions of trout, bass, pickerel, pike, and walleye, were killed before it was all over. It was roughly 1/4 the size of the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill. once the manure got into the water it sapped the water of oxygen and poisoned the fish with ammonia, hours later fish began to bloat and float to the surface. It was the biggest fish kill ever seen by Frank Flauk, regional fish manager. Pike 20# and 10-20 years old were floating and it will be years before the river completely recovers. Conservationist were testing for ecoli levels in the Black River Basin and finding levels extremely high. The Canadian officials were keeping track of the plumes path and hoping it would dilute by the time it reached Kingston and other Ontario communities. I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ but I fished lake Ontario for years, and seen many changes, and to change is hard especially when you been so successful before and now not, I would like to learn from you guys EyeSpy, Walleyemagic, Fleet Tracker, I think we all are in the BRCG and it would be nice to get together and go fishing. PAP
  4. You are correct about the Black River, those walleye seem to stay in the river. I've caught walleye in the river from May to end of November, and some hogs when the salmon come into the river. I've caught them while trolling for salmon, most were huge females so I released them, some smaller 22"-24" males I kept for table fare, I see a older man and lady in a smaller aluminum boat drift down the river and jig from the first set of ripples down to the first island. I also caught my fair share in what we call the snake pit, it's a small pool right before it open into the bay on the right going with the river.
  5. Now that I have the perfect setup as far as $hit fish, I was told by a person ( don't want to reveal his identity) told me that is the mid 90's there was a flood on the Black River and a farmer further up stream had pasture cows and a lot of them and piled tons of cow manure to be spred on the fields but the storm came before he had times to do anything about and so the rains came and so did the flooding it was bad I remember it in TV. like the flood here in PA. on the Susquehanna River. anyway all this manure came down the Black River and out in the bay killing all sorts of species of fish, but most important is the walleye were wiped out, not only in numbers but the manure settled on the floor of the bay and the walleye will not lay their eggs in $hit and don't blame them, so over a 10 to 15 year period it's slowly coming back and I can see it through the river eyes I catch 1 usually measure them weight them look'em over like I know what I'm look for, and put them back. Another 10 years with no catastrophic happenings we should be back to close to were we want to be .It will never be like it was, so the old saying goes $hit and shoved in it.
  6. AWW Man that's a shame, maybe take another approach add 1 more bead and a hatchet blade. Or put a crimp on stop and move the hole spinner idea up the line further? inch or two.
  7. Gator I've seen a lot of your post, lots of info and a true fisherman, I looked up to you as you could out fish me any day of the week. I never $hit in your shorts so I was totally taken back!! I know Les was posting as I was writing this so I backed out and read his post and I'm still going to say the same thing anyway, YOUR APOLOGY is accepted. But look at it from my point of view, I didn't even know what the hell Ed Zackery was, once I knew sparks flew out my a$$ I'm sorry for jumping on you with 2 feet, but you have to agree it was a bash in the face to the both of us. I respect Les a lot, he's helped me a lot and I know your a better person. Your friend pap. Let's bury the hatchet!!!
  8. Bad joke?? what I was referring to was, I lurked around for a while and then joined and the UPGRATED to Pro, ED ZACKERY DISEASE: when you face looks exactly like your A$$. I normally just walk away from this because MR. Black , deserves better than your Ignorant comment. I see you put jackass smilies on also. So when you pushed send you knew what you were doing. So if you think Mr. Dick Blacks head looks like his ass and the same with me. I'ts better then being a total ass such as you for posting something Idiotic.
  9. Welcome aboard, glad you upgraded to pro. Your story sounds a lot like mine. I didn't do it as a status point but rather a show of my appreciation towards the education and friends I made.
  10. DON'T power wash the second story of your house off using a extension ladder, it's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop that sucks lol
  11. I have a 22ft Sea Ray cuddy with stainless steel prop, with 350cid I can't tell you what my get on plane speed is because when I open the throttle she jumps on plane and I'm going 20mph already. I troll with my main engine, so I'm not worried about the extra mouth full of gas it took to get on plane, at 2800 rpm everything seems to come together motors not working hard and I'm cruising 25mph and at 5000 I" cooking along at 48mph but man she drinks fuel like it's margarita time. I only do that when I'm being chased by mother nature, sometimes I win sometimes she wins, if I had a 80mph bass boat I would win more often LOL
  12. No other word could have expressed the content better!!!
  13. Tg8, I can't see why that wouldn't work, like you said seen it the other way, it's definitely different and sometimes that's all it takes. If it works let me know, I like it and make all my harnesses, that would be deadly in may out by the buoys in the Black River Bay guaranteed slow drifted along the bottom. A long time ago I got this idea to put a Michigan fingerling size spoon in front of one of my spinner harnesses and was astounded by the success it made in my catches. Now I see someone else came up with it and I think it's called a worm burner. Dad and I had them in the early 80's and used to troll the north shore of the Black Bay down to pillar point in 30ft water one trip down and back and we were at the fillet table.
  14. 5.4 with the HYPERTECH max energy programmer
  15. FleetTracker, do you remember what nbk it was I got a pile of them I purchased from here and a lot of doubles, I'll send Justin one and if it produces when I get up there I'll make sure I have a few. thanks PAP.
  16. Now this bothered me to no end!!, I've just got back surgery but the pain was worth it. I have bias ply on my trailer, I know that they are 4 years old, so that's 4 trips to Oak Harbor western Ohio and back 4 trips to the Black River Camp grounds and back. I know it's 250 miles from the house to the BRCG and 600and some to Ohio and they still look like new. When I tow I tow, RT81 North bound 70-75mph, keep up with traffic, you don't know she's back there. I tow with a Ford Expedition on a 1 ton frame with a Hypertech max energy chip in her so she goes!! I know none of this was not necessary but I had to do it for my own piece of mind, also not saying radials are better or worse just saying I'm pleased with what I got. I do see other boats in tow swaying all over but that could be another issue. and I don't use any of those torque arms you see on some boats. I think it the size of the vehicle and boat probably closely match each other. 22ft Sea Ray cuddy with 350 I/o actually it's a 355 bored 30 over, complete rebuild only thing I used was the crankshaft, new billet rods torker heads valve released .30 over pistons marine cam 250-325hp new two barrel intake and new baker carb that flows 650cfm. My other 2 uncles have Modified dirt race cars and all the stuff was stuff given to me that they no longer use. I could of never afforded all the fancy stuff but let me tell you it doesn't take me long to get from Henderson to Stoney Isl. And all new exhaust and shutters and all new bellows. should be good for a while. I know everything sounds sweet at 2800 rpm which puts me at 26mph comfortable cruising and 5500rpm put me at 46mph I know she will twist 6000rpm for sure but man she drinks the fuel. I only use her that way to try to out run a storm, other wise just 2800rpm is fine. Over and out pap!!!
  17. Well I guess you can buy a radial tire, I did say don't quote me HA HA I'll still take what's on there they work good, maybe my mind not so good
  18. Xxx

    Otisco 10/10

HEY, the main thing is you were there and most of all not afraid to post a skunk! we all been there,
  19. I have relation that is in the tire business, now don't quote me but I'm pretty sure that you cant buy a radial trailer tire any more, you used to but I think the last time I put tires on I gave him the #s and when I went to mount them they were a little taller and his reply was you cant get that tire any more, every trailer tire "I" can get is bias so that's whats on my boat trailer, NITRO this dude is semi pro bass fisherman, just got a brand new NITRO and its a tandem trailer with bias ply trailer tires, as far as my uncle he went to Walmart and got 4 tires and had Hallie put the tires on that's my relation but he didn't know skip was going to put them on his boat. as far as weight his boat is a 18ft fiberglass with a 4cyl I/o no wonder right!!
  20. Way to go Les. nice report & pics. I really like those that post pictures, makes one wonder how the big guy in the sky could make such beautiful fish, especially those trout the rainbows, and brown they are my favorite to look at. those big nasty looking pike are cool also, the walleye is interesting fish to see and much better on the dinner plate!! keep after them gives me something worthy to read and look at.
  21. Your quite welcome Justin, I feel the same about selling. I bought spoons from a well respected person on here and I couldn't have been more pleased!! I think posting is far more important, to educate people so they join and maybe feel the same I did and pay the $20.00 to help the site out, but in order to do that we need posts on all different species just not salmon.
  22. The way I found this site was, one day I was searching the net about the walleye migration from Black River Bay to the Bay of Quinte , so I had a better Idea were to fish at certain times of the year, Having property in NY the only time I had luck with them was in May and that's when I got redirected to this site. So I lurked around and then joined to read the posts or be able to post and found that this is exactly what I was looking for. 5 years prier I belonged to Walleye.com fished western Erie for 5 years made friends and what a great bunch of guys, left me stay in their cottages gave me more info on where to go , even had a guy stop and give me harnesses he made up, with hatchet blades, he says these will produce, we were back at the dock at 2pm with a 3 man ticket, with info from everybody to help one catch walleye, then I read the post about salmon and more salmon, and I asked about a little info on walleyes, with days gone by with 350 lookers but not a one would speak of anything. Honestly I thought about maybe this is a community with their own little click and you had to earn their whatever you want to call it to give out info on walleye. If you managed to catch a nice stringer they all wanted to know of your where abouts what you used. This is a perfect example I took my twin daughters up to the trailer and we managed 2 nice walleyes (first time ever fishing away from home and in big water the river) it was big to them, we went to the fish cleaning table with our 2 walleye and Elizabeth's nice small mouth, and there was a group of guys there cleaning the best catch of walleyes I've seen in a while, they were cleaning there fish and so were we and my daughters were just amazed that walleye grow that big, my daughter asked those men where did you catch those big fish, answer OUT IN THE BIG WATER. On the way back the girls asked why were those men so nasty, How do you explain that to an 8 year old, they also said that they didn't want to go down their if those same guys were there. And they were ready to go HOME. Thanks!! On the other hand we have Justin who is giving info and pictures of his catch, on a lake 5 miles long and 3/4miles wide and can't get anything out of the guys on lake Ontario lake big enough to get lost on. If this site is to help others out you can't prove that by me, unless you fish salmon. I've been on Ontario since the early 80s, things change and there is enough walleye in the lake for everyone to have some fun. I have made friends with this site, and some are in the BRCG and we plan to put our heads together and maybe be successful also, I know that I will have to catch a few nice walleyes for my daughters to lose their fear of the cleaning table incident. That's the way to get kids involved with the outdoors and not drugs?
  23. What type of rod holders do you have, they look impressive, I've got the same problem, my gunnels are narrow at the top, which make for tough mounting, I made plates up to fasten to the gunnels and then the Tite Loks to the plates which makes for protruding mounts which in rough water can be, hasn't yet a black & blue mark in the hip area, my boat is really deep, so that puts those brackets at hip height, if I could mount them like yours on the inside that would be nice. I looked at the ones at BP, Cabelas, I don't think they will handle the pull of a Dipsy and flasher ect. 2 years ago flat lining at the Black River Bay something hit with authority and cleaned a plastic rod holder right off, lost everything, that's when I went to the tite loks. Thanks PAP
  24. I run 10# well with the fin attached they are 11# pancake style, I have a 10# mold and it has a slot to put a tail fin in it, and I messed around with different tails till I came up with the one I'm using now, and of course you know I'm out of Henderson also, anyway maybe I'm reading into this to deep, where you say(2) on the line behind the ball, do you attach a release to the tail fin of the weight or a release above or below the weight, I can see my "balls" weight at all times, down over 100ft, reason asking is I made the mistake of attaching the release to the tail fin and when I would load the rigger pole, so it would have a nice arch I was picking the weight up also and had terrible blow back, got some Blacks and attached them below and above the weight and problem solved. I doubt that is your problem, just asking.
  25. Why don't you purchase the Precision Trolling App. I did and it is sweet, all the reef runners, little rippers, flicker shad, Rapalas DT deep tail dancers and Off shore dives all up dates with new line and different type lines $99.99 all at your finger tips I put it on my daughters I pad, so I can see it all updates for life free, as more gets added the price will go up,so buy it now and never have to page through those books again. I have all the books but this is way better!!
