  1. Amen brother!! I didn't want to even get involved with this conversation, due to the fact that a city bastard shot 2 of my prize beagles, that were not running deer. Due to that situation I no longer have gun dogs, just a beagle as a pet. OZZY who gets loose every once in a while, we bought the Electric Fence system for him and every now and then he get through the fence usually due to low batteries, If someone were to shoot him it would devastate my 2 daughters and if I found out who did it, the old saying goes an EYE for an EYE. Just to hear all you folks that would shoot an animal with a collar on just because it was in the woods while you were hunting and most of you were hunting on someone else's property, "It would be great if you shot the land owners dog" absolutely sickens me to the point I don't want to be associated with such Ignorant people. I own 25 acres, which I lease to a Christmas tree farmer, and on MY land is where my dogs were shot
  2. I just saw on the news that a man went missing while fishing for walleye on the Susquehanna. After not returning for 12 hours they put out a search team, one of his friends knew his hot spots for walleye and after a day of searching they found him, unfortunately not alive. I know there are a few members on here that fish the Susquehanna for walleye in the winter months, please be careful and if fishing by small boat wear a life vest. Good luck and more importantly be safe!! PAP
  3. About 10 years ago I had Beagles and my to males got loose during the deer gun season, now my dogs didn't chase deer, but were excellent rabbit hounds, I had my female bread with a Champion male out of Tennessee, cost me dearly but they listened well and love to hunt, and with all the guns cracking all around they got loose and they didn't ever come back. A friend of mine in a diner not to far away over heard two young guys, move in's from the city spouting off about these 2 beagles with florescent orange collars were running deer so they shot the both of them and left them lay. I knew where they were hunting it was in the swamp behind the house (my dogs don't chase deer, I've seen where they jumped them out of the nest and they would snoop around and pick up the rabbit and take off on the rabbit again) I contacted the game comm. after I found the 2 dogs and showed them where they were shot, and told them about who did it, they said that it wasn't enough evidence to do anything, I said I just lost a $1000.00 in dogs and your not even going to talk to them, that's right Mr. Frey we need more evidence, I said why not take the dogs and see if there's and bullet remains that might be in the dogs, they said that the shots were pass through and no evidence would be found. The dogs were blown about in half. With no help from the worthless game comm. I knew where these A$$holes lived and I got my chance once there cat ventured over to my house and got after my chickens, needless to say they got there cat returned in the mail box. I set a leg hold trap and caught the cat in the trap and with leather gloves I duct taped its legs together and put it in their mail box with a note next time you shoot one of my dogs, it will get ugly. I never herd a word back and don't see them around any more. Rumor has it they lost the house to the bank, best thing that ever could of happened!! (I didn't kill their cat) The animal shouldn't have to take brunt of someone else's stupidity. They can't decipher right or wrong, so taking it out on someone's pet isn't the correct way either!!
  4. Absolutely feel the same as lineman49, they are stable when still fishing and on calm days, which aren't to common on lakeO. The tri-hull will beat you to death if you have to make a long run in 2-3 footers. You will have to pick and choose your days with that's size boat especially with an open bow. LakeO is a V bottom boat, and if your like me, I don't live close to the lake so many times I came up to camp to go fishing and just couldn't go due to rough waters. You can look for bays to fish depending on the wind direction, but that's not always what I wanted to do. I had 18fters and they were on the small side, finally sold both my 18fters and bought a 22ft cuddy and there are days when that's iffy but I feel much safer in that boat it handles the waves well.
  5. Agree, we went to Illinois and had to shoot a 140 or better. The guy we leased the land from took us around at night and showed us "this size rack or better" All I could think WOW that's a huge deer, and he want's us to shoot bigger ones. The deer he showed us was the biggest buck I ever laid eyes on. 3 days into the hunt I had this buck step out in the field and almost fell out of my tree, it was huge, I put the crosshairs right behind the blade and touched off my 300h&h mag and down he went, I just stood their shaking like a leaf, took a few deep breaths and got out of my tree, radioed my brother, I just shot a monster. I thought for sure 160-170 when the guy came, I asked him "well what ya think, he said high 140,low150 still a nice deer but there's much bigger deer here than that" I was still tickled pink with my buck, biggest deer I ever shot 23"inches inside and 9 points and massive at the skull. It takes a big a$$ deer to score 160 or better. Oh I almost forgot you have to shoot a doe to get your buck tag, my doe dressed 190lbs. they are huge also
  6. When I transferred my trailer from the guy I bought it from, which was NJ into my name, PA. The marina I use for parts & stuff is also a boat & trailer sales joint also, he made the gvw so I don't need a inspection. This marina treats me well and he is a cool guy to deal with.
  7. Yea, I understand that there will always be those circumstances that are beyond our control, but in the norm. 1 is all it takes, or a reload before the getting on the blood trail. Your situation was definitely different, bottom line he's in the cook pot!!!
  8. I sure wished that I would of come across this boat before I bought my 22fter and dumped a pile of money into it. I would jump on this offer, Dang nabbit, best of luck to you for a sale!!
  9. That's one hell of a nice walleye for the river, heck anywhere. Congrats. on your catch
  10. So when it's cold the ticks don't die? I thought the same the first frost or cold snap they croaked, so what your saying they are kind of like a bee, they just go into a hibernation type thing. If it gives a warm spell, like it does in the deer season, do they become active again? Good grief Charlie Brown I thought the little blood sucking bastards died. So how long does one live?
  11. I thought the same thing, If you are wanting to sell the stickers, why not spread out so you can see them. Instead of all on a ball
  12. What are the prices, I see $10.00 I'm assuming that's for the fish seeker, not the whole batch?
  13. The post reads 170hrs and a 5.7 or 350cid according to Mercruiser it's 260 hp. I rebuilt mine this year with better heads and bored 30 over which makes it a 355cid and a Holley 2 barrel which flows 500cfm on the dyno pushed 290hp. the reason I had it dynode is because I have access to a buddy of mine who has a speed shop and I wanted to know everything was right before I put it back in. I was tickled pink with the results, sounds sweet and works great.
  14. Maybe a good idea for me, would be to shop around up by you guys, down here everyone that does this kind of work considers it a luxury Item rather than a necessity. More competition might be a factor also, I guess I'll look around up by the lake in the spring. I put that John's # in my favorites, I'll give him a call in the spring when we bring the boat up. Thanks for the heads up on the quality thing Les, didn't even give that a thought. PS. I forgot to mention that the guy that sewed my seems up is going into retirement and that's why he doesn't want to do the windows.
  15. I have the same problem, with my windows, and #2grand is out of the question right now. There is a guy that lives by me that makes the tarps and tops, he sewed all the seems on my bimini top and aft but I asked him to make new windows and he told me, I'll sew the seams but I don't do the windows anymore, because the plastic is to expensive, he has to buy it buy the roll, and something about the plastic is oil based and new regulations and so on, so he used my windows and zippers and new snaps, made the window with the new cloth surroundings, they work and fit like a glove but they are foggy like. Its only a triangle piece that I mainly only use when it's windy and cold, like spring brown fishing. It does hinder your sight off to the sides I noticed, so I take a good look out the back before turning!! can't rely on the passengers they are all bull$hiting and just say no or I didn't see anything, at least my crew
  16. I use the 30# sea flea line 330ft I know a lot of the guys say the strip a lot of line off but with the 30# line I can usually put the brakes to them, just have to remember I only have 20# leader. I always fish with just 1or 2 guys and if we get a monster on we clear the poles and just fight the one fish on and if need be I'll back to them if it looks if we are down on the spool. And then what ever were fishing for I use a 12 # fluro for walleye and 20# for everything else. I use 50ft of the fluro when fishing for walleye and 20ft of the 20# fluro for salmon. I mostly walleye fish.
  17. WWIV that's a great idea!! never thought of that, usually 1 shot is needed but in those hurry up times, well there is no hurry up, but with that Idea it will definitely speed things up, with these guns the shot is so devastating that a quick 2nd isn't necessary. I've seen where they fly a$$ over tin cup, finished business.
  18. Yea triple7 not S like I said, and I only shoot 100 grains or 2 pellets, mine kicks like a mule with 3 pellets and at 100 yards they shoot the same. Maybe longer shots I would consider 3 pellets, and most likely the velocity would be greater with 3 but I killed lots with 2 pellets and the gun don't kill on both ends
  19. Since I started (when they made it legal to use) I used Pyrodex pellets 50/50 and Power belts bullets I used these for years because I could get 8 shots off before I needed to clean the barrel, I marked the ram rod and I couldn't get the 8th bullet down to the mark. I hade to buy a aftermarket ram rod the one that came with the gun only stuck11/2"1+ out of the barrel making it difficult to load. Now I switched over to triple F powder and sabot type bullet which is a 45cal. bullet that was used in the 45-70 cal. rifle the bullet is made by Barns bullets, really works nice, I use 100grains or 2 pellets and the sabot 45cal-250 grains and that shoots very well out of my gun, and the water proof 209 muzzle loader primer made by Winchester and this combination is what I stuck with because it works very well on both ends.
  20. That's really awesome stuff guys, thanks for sharing that bit of information with us, I just blows me away with all the info that can be gathered in such a small torpedo looking device, and the amount of Intelligence it brings back on a little computer chip, which is translated into useful information that can be used by everyone who has anything to do with the Great Lakes. Excellent!!!!
  21. Very nice John, I just like to look at fish mounts!! Everybody has deer it's not every day you go to some ones home and they have a nice fish display. Off course that's my opinion and I'm partial to the fishing sport anyway. I like to hunt, I love to fish.

Great going there lyk2fish, looks like you smacked them good. Congrats on your catch!!!
  24. Yea your absolutely correct!! I knew it sounded to good to be true, I spent most of the morning going over different maps and apps, there's a reason they make real GPS units a lot of the functions that are necessary the apps just simply doesn't do, so back to the drawing board, looking really hard at the Garmin units. Cabelas is having a electronics sale so see what Santa can afford this year LOL.
  25. Keep shooting Kevin, they are down here by the grocery store we go to, it's along side big farm fields and they venture over in the parking lot and $hit everything up LOL.
