  1. jimski2 that's the best way to go about it, I know how the loosing a stringer feeling goes, I lost one up in Canada one time, that was loaded with 2-3#ers on it. I was more sick feeling for those fish, I didn't give a crap about the stringer. The next day we trolled deep diver cranks. in the area we lost the stringer and I'll be dipped in $hit if dad didn't hook on to something and reeled in our stringer of fish, after that it was high5s and hand shakes then he said "are you happy now" let's go clean these up for our limit over the border.
  2. Kevin I know this doesn't pertain to your post, but I'm into crow hunting, and our season down here in PA. is Fri-Sun. and I got a new Fox Pro caller for Christmas last year and I hand picked the crow sounds I wanted from their site and they made a chip I can put in and it some how communicates with the hand piece which you can change sounds and volume, I was just playing around with it today and was amazed with the sound and so were the birds. I couldn't believe the amount of times I brought the same flock over the house and how low some of them flew, now I can't wait to try it out in the field. PAP.
  3. After reading that post from IRG355, I'll keep my hard earned cash in my pocket, this is a sure way to loose your a$$!!

    Swamp Dog

Yea, I can't believe that they have a season on the yotes up there, down here in PA. you can hunt them 24/7 and we put a hurtin on them, there still to many, but we can always hunt them at night if there is a problem.
  5. I noticed that you are docked at Oneida, how about trying the Black River Bay, in May there is the best walleye fishing in the area, You could call Henchen marina, they have cabins for like $25/35 dollars a day that includes dockage, I've stayed there and the cabins are nice there is a restaurant right across the street it's owned by Bill Saiff, called Westview lodge, he also has lodging (315) 938-5285 and he has a marina with dockage. Henchens #(315) 938-5313 they are across the street from one and other. This will put you in Henderson Harbor, it's only a 15 minute drive over to the Black River to a public launch which is a free launch, there is B&J bait shop right there in the parking area, they are nice people and will tell you what's working for what ever you want to fish for but in May it's walleye haven, if you stay in Henderson you want to fish for browns fish the shore lines of Stoney Island, or about 31/2 miles south out of Henderson harbor go down to stoney Point that's where all the charter boats head for a mix bag of different species of fish.
  6. ERABBIT, he says he has power at the relays which eliminates the switch and power at the motor wires that tells me it's in the motor its self, and that's the same problem uncle Dave had unfortunately for him it was stuck in the down mode, we were able to get a screwdriver in there and tap on the motor and it went up. When we got home and were able to inspect the situation it looked like we had to let the motor down about a 1/4 of the way to knock out the roll pins and then the 2 rods that held the trim motor to the main motor. Then remove the plug at the relays and slide every thing out the bottom.
  7. My uncle had the same problem, on his there was a release screw, I don't remember where it was any more. We took the motor off, marked it with a black marker so it goes back together the same way, what we found was condensation froze the brushes in the holder, of course after we took it apart, sprayed the end cap with penetrating fluid and then worked the brushes loose so they slide freely, then sprayed it clean with carb. cleaner and put it back together and problem solved that was 3 years ago. We had power to both wires also, up one wire is hot, down the other wire is hot, that's how the motor gets it's forward and reverse for the up & down. hope this helps, just remember to mark the cap & case so you put it together the same way his you could go either way. You will need a dental pick to push the one brush back far enough to get it over the armature.
  8. Holy crap, looks like a winter wonderland up there!! what's the temp Brrrrrr
  9. To bad it isn't a 15hp, I'd jump on that, reason it's so cheap is it's a pull start only, maybe there is a place to put a starter on it since it has a 15 amp charge system?
  10. Even though it's no monster the rack is cool, it has character and holds is mass through out the whole tine itself. Congrats on your kill. Now the work begins!!
  11. Nice buck Kevin, nice story behind you decision to make that evening sit, it's funny how those mysterious notions make you do things and they turn out good, like it was meant to be
  12. Man that's a great price for that cooler, I'm looking for something like that to mount on the swim platform on my boat, but I'm 250 miles away, good luck on a sale anyone looking for a good cooler you can't beat that price, I know I've been looking they are very pricey if you look at cabelas or bass pro.
  13. Congats to you on your exceptional day on the lake, may many more days like this one come to you in the future. It's days like the one you just had make your drive more intense for the next trip. Great job!!

    Kicker bracket

Ray I have a 82 Sea Ray 22ft cuddy, I lent my 15 Johnson to my uncle, so I could put a long shaft on, and that has electric start and a charging system, do you think the $195.00 one would be ok or is that considered a high thrust motor? the high thrust one is $350plus I can't remember exactly the price but considerably more. Both are 2 strokers but I can deal with that I never had a problem with the Johnson, I used Amsoil 100+1 and works great no plug fouling even when I hade my 18fters I needed more then just a idol so I'm thinking 1/4 throttle to push this boat which then I would have no problems with the 2 strokes. I would like to have a 4 stroke but that's not going to happen this year, especially if I need the more expensive bracket. I have a fresh motor in the boat but I don't know how fuel cost will be, and the kicker would be a second motor should something happen to the main motor. It wouldn't be the first time for me to limp home on the kicker!! I had a 90 horse Evinrude V4 and one bank went dead on me and 2 cylinders just wouldn't do the job of course it was when we decided to call it a day because it was getting rough out there and I couldn't keep the bow up with the main motor on 2 cylinders so I fired up the kicker and with both motors I was able to get into Henderson harbor then just ran the rest of the way on the kicker.

    Kicker bracket

Ray did you get the high thrust one or the reg. one, it looks like you have a long shaft kicker, do you think with the motor mounted that low a short shaft would work? I have a 15 short shaft.

    Kicker bracket

Yea, that's it sk8 thanks a lot. I've looked back through the posts I couldn't find it I thought I put it under favorites but I guess not. Thanks Ray for the how to!!
  17. I looked high & low for a bracket that someone had on a newer boat with a full swim platform, It was white and mounted under the swim platform. Looked like it mounted to the transom and it was square until it was past the platform then had the lip and flat surface to mount the kicker. It was a sweet looking piece and I'm going to put my 15 horse on over the winter, but can't locate this bracket. Thanks for any help!! PAP
  18. I found at a going out of business hardware store battery connecter with 2 studs and I put 2 wires on each stud and used a nylon locking nut instead of the wing nut and put a battery disconnect(Perko) in between the battery and the instruments, so I have Instrument 1 on or both or all off works for me. When taking the batteries out for the winter I loosen the connecter and leave the wires in tack and the neg. terminal and out comes the batteries.
  19. First thing, I always put in a big pinch of chew in before I open one of your post, after we settle in I open your post and as usual, they are always action packed with all the detail, I love predator hunting and you guys got some of the best up there!!(good thing/bad thing) Good job as always, keep those pelts coming

  22. Nice going Guppy, and for the kids involved Sometimes it's not about the size but the adventure, especially if one takes the time to get the young ones involved. Now they experienced the whole picture and know what comes after the shot. congrats on the kill.
  23. Thanks Justin, I just didn't know if the woods police had the authority to shoot pets or not?
  24. I think the difference here is my dogs were killed on my land not chasing deer, your stories are about wild dogs chasing deer down and killing them. What does NY state law say about such a situation?
