  4. White/green Spindoctor and green/white flies were the only thing that worked today for us fishing around Myers.
  5. The vessel was just above Myers today. Pissed me off because I had just got all my lines out twice today and he had his tow line stretched across the whole lake. Had to pick up my lines up and move. Was not happy.
  6. You did not say if you use the motor to troll or just to get from one spot to the other. If you mostly troll, you can't beat an Etec. I have a 115 on my boat and it trolls all day long with no issues so far in 4 years. The Etec is going to weigh less than most 4 strokes if weight is an issue. You also can't beat the winterization process and less maintenance costs.
  7. Alex that is a nice Walleye. That's on my bucket list for that lake. Probably catch one when I don't try to target them.
  8. Yes, l got him on a green flasher fly setup. I forgot the name of the Spin Doctor, but it is green with white tape and green dots and was on the 1st hole. The fly was an green Atomic fly.
  9. We fished yesterday (8/20) until the rec boaters got bad around noon. We got about a few Lakers on green flashers and flies on dipsy down about 100' or so. First time using my wire dipsy setups. Fished straight down the middle of the lake. Got a few Silvers on GLT 44's around mid- lake before it was too hard with the rec boaters around. Got this big boy in the picture waiting to go the smoker this morning for my lunch today.
  10. Today was slow. Most of the marks were down 100 ft with a few sporadic ones mixed in the water column. Trolled about 7 hours and got skunked. The only good news is fleas were not bad.
  11. Any Owasco reports lately? Haven't seen many reports lately from Owasco. Heading up there Sunday (8/6) and wondered if anybody has had any luck lately. Will post a report after my trip.
  12. Owasco 7/2 We started out thinking we could launch out of South Shore Marina, but water was almost covering his docks. The right side of the ramp is closed and just the short dock is open, but was not sure about launching there, so we headed to Emerson Park. Water was up in the outlet but we were able to launch just fine. The current coming back to the docks is strong so take that into account when docking. Went 8 for 9 on the day, all Lakers. Got a double right by Burris Point, both about 6lbs. Trolled the west side and picked up a few here and there. Got nothing on the east side. Fleas are bad right now and we got into them all over. The hot spoon for us today was GLT 44 with blue stripe on it. First time we used Offshore Pro Mag planer boards and I really like them they get the line way away from the boat and allowed to comfortable put another line on a smaller planer board next to it. We hung 10 colors of leadcore and a torpedo weight off of them and they tracked great. They run low in the water and can be tricky detecting a fish on. They pull hard but a 9 ft Ugly Stick handled it fine. 7 of the fish today came off the Pro Mag planer boards so it's something we have to keep in the program. Largest fish of the day was 9lbs.
  13. Started in the south end around 7:30 and started off with gold and orange spoons and got nothing. Switched out mid lake to GL 44 spoon and a FLT Pink Alewife and ended the day 23 for 25. Five color leadcore on planer boards and torpedo divers down 60. These two will go on the smoker tomorrow, the biggest being 9lbs according to my scale.
  14. I will be there tomorrow. I was looking to go Sunday but looks like the wind will stir up the waves. First time this year I have been able to get on this lake.
  15. You don't have to worry about me over fishing Cayuga
  16. I was not too far behind you and had the same results. Just one bow.
  17. Thanks for the update. How was the water level at the launch?
  18. I have caught a lot of fish on his spoons. I also did not have my order filled last Fall, but paid with PayPal. I took someone's suggestion and wrote a negative review on his FLT Facebook page. My one star review knocked his ratings down from a 4.6 to a 4.5, so if more people write a negative review it may help other customers from buying from him. Won't help to get your money back, but might help stop him from filling up his wallet more.
  19. I-81 North through Binghamton construction update This for those of you that travel from PA and NJ. If you are traveling 81 North through Binghamton, by the end of April it will be down to one lane. They are putting a temporary bridge up as they rebuild one of the overpasses. Traffic will be backed up real bad during the day. Traffic may not be too bad during the early morning hours. Not sure when this new overpass will be completed. Here is an alternative route: Take Exit 2W to Route 11. Route 11 will turn into Court St. At the 5th red light, take a right onto Broad Ave. At the 3rd red light, make a left onto Bevier St. At the 5th red light, take a right on to Front St and in a ¼ mile take the entrance to 81 North. If traffic is really backed up, you can take Exit 1 off of 81 North. At the bottom of the exit, make a left on to Cederhurst Rd. Then ¼ mile up the road, make a left on to exit for Route 11 North. At the bottom of the exit, make a right on to Route 11. Go about 5 miles on Route 11, which will turn into Court St. At the 5th red light, take a right onto Broad Ave. At the 3rd red light, make a left onto Bevier St. At the 5th red light, take a right on to Front St and in a ¼ mile take the entrance to 81 North. At this point 81 South through Binghamton will have 2 lanes, but it looks like they may be having everyone exit off the highway and go through Binghamton to get back on 81 South. That will be a real nightmare when that happens. I will update you with an alternative route when they start that project.
  20. Review of my winter boat cover The last thing anyone is thinking about is storing their boat for the winter, but here is my review of the winter cover I used this year. This year I decided to try something different than shrink wrapping my boat for the winter. Because of where I store my boat now, I would have had to have use a mobile shrink wrapping service and they are scarce in my area. I am posting this review because I did not find a lot of information online about some other alternatives to shrink wrapping except to build a frame out of wood or pvc pipe and use a tarp. I used ¾ inch electrical conduit pipes to build the frame and connected them together using Kover Klamps. I had to custom bend a lot of the pipes, so that was probable the worst part. Since I did not have any rails on my boat, I had to anchor the frame to my Traxtech rails and a couple of spots to the floor on my bow deck. Then I wrapped all the conduit in pool noodles and pipe foam. I bought a heavy duty vinyl tarp, lacing the tarp under the boat and also secured the tarp to the trailer frame with nylon rope. In Binghamton, we had 135 inches of snow this winter as well as a number of days with high wind. One storm this past March, we had 3 feet of snow and I did not have any snow on the cover the day after. The frame and tarp worked very well as I did not have any water or mold in the boat. I spent about as much on materials as I would have for getting my boat shrink wrapped. The frame and Kover Klamps are now reusable each year and I should get another winter out of the tarp, so I should see some savings over the next couple of years. For my 18’ boat, I ordered a 20x30 tarp and the length was a little too long so I had to make a wrap around the front. Next time I will order a smaller tarp. Obviously shrink wrapping is the best option, but possibly this post may help someone build a better winter cover system.
