Ok. I am looking at the cold waters or the tekotas. Looking at a 30 class reel or one that will hold the same amount of yards of line as my 30 class magdas. Suggestions? I would like to stay under $200
i have 4 magda lc reels. One of the drags went on it already and I have only landed one salmon on it. I plan on replacing it this year with a higher end reel. Thought about the cold waters but am thinking twice now.
We release all of our northerns. Although we did get one this year that didnt make it got wrapped around a stump as normal and by the time we got her off the stump she had injured herself unfortunatly. But, she was 48" and in the upper 20's/low 30's in weight so she is going on my buddies wall
I am hitting Lake O this year for some spring action. Really wanted to last year and just didnt make it and what a banner season for browns! I will this year!
I live on the great Sacandaga and have fished it all my life. You are right, it used to be an exceptional walleye lake 30 years ago but now it's marginal. Yes, if you catch 5 walleye if your lucky in one day 3 of them will be 15 " maybe one 17" and the last still under 20". There are big ones in the lake though most of which are caught thru the ice. Same for the northerns. Every winter I catch several 40" plus northerns thru the ice. I have been fishing Sacandaga lake near speculator for walleye. Been doing very well many are over 23" biggest was 29"
I am going to pick up 2 to 4 level wind reels most likely line counters for spring brown fishing. I do not have any reels other than my salmon rods where are 30 class reels and big rods. Anyone recommend a reel class? the 15s or 20's? I would have these setup exclusively for browns
Tell u one thing, I hunt the Adirondacks here and bucks like that are hard to come by, I am very jealous of those western ny and central ny bucks! Of course, the adk bucks tend to outweigh them
I have a Lowrance Elite 7. I installed the Navionics Platinum plus chip and qI love it. been on Lake O with it and my home lake. excellent contours, nav aids etc. I highly recommend it
