  1. thanks yes it does. Unfortunatly I cant justify that kind of coin at the moment as I still need more pretinent things like some new electronics..
  2. just curious do most of you that come from different ports trailer to the port of a derby or do you go my water?
  3. yes I believe it does need a coated cable. I dont have any of the above mentioned and most likely wont for awhile. This was my first year on the bigwater. I will probably get a simple thermometer that I can lower down on the rigger ball before I start trolling to check the temps at whatever depth the ball gets too. forget what those are called.
  4. What about the Depth Raider?
  5. That is the truth!
  6. Thanks steel fire I may just give the foil a try first. It won't solve the issue of uneven distribution of weight when underway however
  7. I agree you do not need a 40 class reel to run 1000feet of steel. I have the Okuma convector 30 class reels for my dips eh rods. 1 I run mono and the other wire. The wire easily holds 1000 feet with some30lb big game backing and fluorocarbon leader
  8. Can still hunt dogs and rabbits! Haha
  9. It is a good idea in my opinion. I have seen too many easily avoidable accidents by watercraft operators it is scary. I hope the course also includes proper trailering and launching!
  10. I thought about a foil. My lower unit already had holes where there was a trolling plate
  11. All my gear is store in the cabin of my islander which sits outside and shrinkwrapped
  12. By the time deer season is winding up I am ready for it to b over.,I can't seem to get myself to do anything else other than hunt during the season. Then everything builds up and I have a ton of things to do. My next season is ice fishing and at the same time getting everything ready in my sugar house and sugarbush for the upcoming maple season!
  13. I wish that I could afford the hrs unit but that isn't in the cards. I primarily fish on my home lake the great sacandaga. I only get out to lake o twice a year. But I guess we will see
  14. I have heard good reviews on horn adds system sabots
  15. When soldering do u just use standard lead free solder?
  16. I miss being on the boat period.
  17. yes. I have never lost a deer yet with the combination. and there have been dozens. I will say I shoot the hollow points because I believe that the deer that I have shot in general compared to the aerotips that I have used in the past did not go as far. But, 295gr also packs a wallop
  18. I have an 11' white paddle, got it in the Dreamweaver ProPack..I tried running it last year, it always tangled up..havent used it since
  19. THANKS. For me it seems to be ideal. Is there a big difference between the broadband unit and the HDI other than the inability to do down and side imaging
  20. I really had my heart set on the Lowrance Elite 7 Broadband. I dont need the HDI crap. I know two others that have the Elite 7 and have had 0 issues with them. I navigated one in Bass Pro the other day and really liked how it operated. Of course it was in Demo mode. I cant really figure out what basemap comes with the unit and what upgraded basemaps are available though. Anyone? Attached is a pic of my Current FF..An OLD Eagle Ultra II Plus...
  21. My Optima shoots them like a dream. I prefer the hollow point 295gr. I use 100 grains of Triple 7 out of mine..
  22. yeah I can imagine. You always hear abou blues and greens for the most part. I figure I didnt have any red/purple colors so went with that
  23. I got the Bloody Deather SD for an early Christmas present and Dan Keatings book Keatings on Kings! yeah baby..Now to figure out what fly/flies work well wit hteh Bloody Death and am, mid day or pm?
  24. I have only ever shot one coyote and that was on my property 2 seasons ago. I was still hunting in a hemlock patch that was undulating terrain. Was pretty quiet walking. I was looking for bedded deer. Suddenly, walking along, I noticed something curled up at the base of a big hemlock tree. And whe nI say I noticed, it scared the **** out of me cause I was less than 20' from it. the damn dog was sound asleep. I thought it was dead till I noticed that its chest was moving. I literally three a few sticks near it and it never moved. Its ears didnt even raise. Then I leaned against a tree, cocked my Marlin .35 back and let out a whistle. nothing. then a louder whistle..head comes up, bang...shot him right behind the ear at 20 feet...
  25. Yeah, that is what I have been told to try. I guess I will throw 3 50lbers up there and see how it works.
