  1. hey john, welcome aboard,i also lived in jersey, grew up in pal.park and also lived in hopatcong for awhile before moving to n.y.i fish mexico bay out of the little salmon and would be happy to answer any questions you have.shoot me a p.m.talk to you soon.jason.
  2. i dont think it will work on 2 strokes not cause of the carb, but because of the timing advance mechanism on a 2-stroke.the tiny little wire that comes off the servo that opens the carb on a 4-stroke is not strong enough to push the timing advance on a 2-stroke.
  3. good job giz, should have stayed on your boat,we didnt do that well on mine, but was nice to be out on the water again.nice meeting you and your buddy, forgot his name already and looking forward to fishing again.its nice talking to people on this site, but its even better when you can meet and get out and fish together.
  4. well, first trip of the season and all went well.everything worked,no troubles and got to do some fishing FINALLY!!!!!got out around noon today and set up right out side the river and made a right.didnt need to go far, fish were in the nice dirty water the river was pushing out.went 3 for 12 in 3 hours.had alot of releases with no body home.did have 4 on at once which was crazy with just the 2 of us.landed 2 out of the 4.all fish were small.lemon ice took 2 of the fish and a green spoon i painted and taped this past winter took the other and had some knock offs as well.sticks didnt see much action, did loose one lifting him in the boat on a black and silver bayrat.all and all a nice day on the water, was nice to get away from the snow and ice for a weekend, but back home now and the snow and ice are still here.looking forward to next weekend already.i did fish on a fellow l.o.u.members boat this morning and did alot better on his boat then mine, hopefully he will post his results.
  5. On our way to the marina today, caught Jon at his shop and he said he should be open for buisness next weekend.also,he is having his annual jons little salmon river brown trout tournament which will be May 16th.
  6. We took a look this morning, looked like 3's or so,would have been out there if it was salmon season!!!!!
  7. Awesome large mouth fishing.but it is surrounded by private land.
  8. Wish I could tell you,but you didn't want to be out there today, not for Browns anyway.even though we didn't fish,it was great just putting the boat in and cruising up the river.
  9. I always post our results in the reports, good or bad!!!
  10. We will be here.staying at the marina.
  11. We launched there today, have to go in the exit.no docks, have to launch from the up river side of the ramp.will be trolling in the a.m.!!!!FISH ON
  12. Launched at mexico point today, couldn't use mikes ramp, current in the river is unreal.no ice in the bay,be out trolling in the am.FISH ON!!!!
  13. all my life i have used brand named oils, then this topic came up on here a few years ago and a bunch of guys said they were using the super tech from walmart,so i tried it and guess what,my motors are still purring like kittens, almost 30 year old 2-strokes!!!!!13 bucks a gallon instead of almost 50 bucks a gallon for yammie oil.THANKS FOR SAVING ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS A YEAR!!!!
  14. just like bout time said.
  15. i have heard others have the same problem.if capt.rick hajecki (crazy yankee troller)does not chime in,maybe shoot him a pm,he is a big time cannon guy and great with helping people out.
  16. if you are not sure you can always have a tackle shop do it like jons little salmon shop in mexico or any of the shops in pulaski.you can bring them your reel to set up or buy them pre-loaded with copper or wire.it really sucks when let out 300 ft of copper and the first fish breaks you off cause your knot didnt hold.alot cheaper to let the pros do it.
  17. heading to mexico friday,if i get there before dark, ill post the conditions.
  18. end of the summer when the fish were in less than 100 fow.you still going to fat nancys saturday???ill bring those rod holders
  19. blood run has a depth chart for the different copper weights, but copper runs roughly 20 ft down per 100 ft out.so not an early spring brown tactic.but yes,we would run it anytime fishing deeper than 40 fow.caught browns and lakers in late spring and steelies and salmon through the summer.being nice and short, you can clear it quick if you need to land a fish behind the boat and also to change baits up.
  20. we run one down the chute, was a good producer last year.
  21. depends on water temp.but they should be in shallow through may.like what was stated above, sticks flat lined off boards, spoons on weighted lines or riggers.colors can change daily,so try to have a good assortment of colors.there are alot of posts here on lou, about catching browns,so go back and do some reading.good luck.
  22. egoody, like what was stated above,if you can,get yourself a planer set up.there is a guy selling a wiley 6' mast here in the classifieds,i have a couple of home made boards and a bunch of clipper releases you can try out.if you come down to the pulski area to fish,i can meet up with you or i can get them up to n.h. in a couple of weeks.
  23. yes egoody, when setting them out, left on the dipsey you would set out on the port side.like skate said the higher the number, the further away from the boat it will run,but also will run higher in the water.not familiar with fair haven, but i would imagine you will be fishing in less than 20 fow for early browns,so if you are going to run dipsies, they wont be out very far.also,we run them on wire,no stretch helps with tripping the dipsey when a fish hits.someone on here had a really good chart for depth of dipsey to amount of line out, that seemed to be a bit more accurate than the one that comes with the dipsey.i will try to find it.
  24. welcome aboard tom.i have fished many different waters in my life, but lake o is the best.lots of great guys here on lou.
