  1. I visited my local West Marine store today and they had large signs advertising they will 'match any price'. The manager said they have a new corporate strategy to match prices to be more competitive, and eventually their prices will adjust accordingly. Our store almost went out of business 2 years ago....they shut down for 2 months. I saved about $7 on some epoxy today, I just had to show the guy the same item on my Amazon phone app. The price match statement is also on their website. https://www.westmarine.com/

  3. I agree. Great customer service, great company, and quality lures. The glow green frog is my #1 walleye color. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Sometimes you have to delete the app and reload it with the newest update. I had to do that with the iPhone LOU app for a similar reason. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  6. I live 22 miles from Superior. We’ve had hardly any snow this year. It’s usually as high as my back door at my house and it hasn’t been more than 12” this year. The extended below zero weather has prevented most of the lake effect snow from falling. We did have, however, a lot of rain all summer and fall. If it continues to rain this spring we could be in for additional lake level increases. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Be careful around your Cannon stickers and decals. Cleaners are usually caustic. Purple Power and Simple Green might work as well.....but yes the Starbrite is a good product.
  8. You will lose about 0.45 inches in tire diameter, and you will be going about 54 mph when your speedometer shows 55 mph. I don't think you will screw up your computer otherwise. Here is a tire size change calculator: http://m.roadkillcustoms.com/tire-change-speedometer-change-calculator/
  9. I forgot to mention that I have a 16ft SeaSprite fiberglass boat. I completely removed the floor 15 years ago and installed exterior grade plywood. I painted the plywood with 3 coats of West System Epoxy before installing it. I put marine carpet over top. The floor is still very solid, and the boat sits outside year round. Another material option for you.
  10. Awesome project and boat. I share an SS195 with a friend, as an extra boat, same boat as yours but a fish n ski version. I have another friend who has your boat. Both boats are currently in storage. I will send some pictures that I have from the summer...perhaps there are some shots of the interior. For the flooring did you consider using Starboard? I don’t know if Azek is a good choice for load bearing. I used some on my house this past summer and it shrinks pretty bad in the cold. I have a 1” gap where a longer piece was installed. Starboard is UV stabilized high density polyethylene (HDPE). There also might be a difference between Starboard and King Starboard. It’s going to be heavier and harder than the Azec, and more resistant to the weather. If you are adding carpet, perhaps it’s OK. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. Yes, Jan's Netcraft is the best, however I usually buy all my supplies at my local bait & tackle shops. They don't have the lures I need but they have all the harness supplies!
  12. Excellent advice so far from different viewpoints. I prefer smaller reels because I want them to be multi-species. 30 for riggers and divers. If I were targeting deep water kings exclusively, I would consider the 40s. I prefer the non-linecounters for rigger rods. More comfortable.
  13. These work great for running rods down the chute (off the back). Nice deal. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. Slow Death hook rigs (single hooks) are great for walleye. I use PLINE Flouroclear 20lb, mainly out of convenience because I had a roll of it. It’s a fluorocarbon coated mono. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  21. The boards were wrapped in a rubber-backed carpet and all contact points were foamed. I screwed into raw wood that I foamed against the original painted stringers. I'm sure the copper (CCA) chemicals can still get in there to corrode over time, but all the surfaces were painted. Hindsight, I should have used regular wood. There is no way to properly isolate treated from aluminum. It was a 14ft deep V and I didn't end up keeping it. Way too small.
  22. You are welcome & sounds good. Yeah, I’d be afraid of dropping my phone in the water for sure. I suppose you could use a lanyard and tie it to your wrist, but that’s one more thing to keep track of. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. Here is a product from Walmart (web site) that you may be able to use. It’s $22.97. Other stores/sites such as Home Depot and Amazon sell these too. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. I would suggest covering it with indoor/outdoor carpet. I refurbed an aluminum Sea Nymph a few years ago that had full length gunwales. I removed all the thin aluminum and replaced it with 2x8 treated, cut to the contour of the gunwales. I bought runner carpet at a local hardware store (usually about 2ft wide on a big roll and they sell it by the foot) and glued it to the wood. Solid as a rock and the carpet really adds a comfort level when climbing in and out...and leaning over the edge, etc. It looks great too. Everything can still be mounted through the carpet. It’s a low pile. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
