  1. Wouldnt count on them being decommissioned. They extended license on the one here in Jersey which was one of the oldest ones in the country.
  2. You are right. For an older cable steer boat there are not a lot of options available. Been researching them as I know someone who just purchased an Islander with power assist cable steering and not alot of economical options available.
  3. Longgunner you need to buy the wife a fishhawk for her birthday.
  4. Unfortunately it sounds like this post has more to it than what is being laid out here ( mutiple deals). That being said I dont think this is the place for two guys to air out their dirty laundry. Usually both sides have some fault to take onus about. Hope you two can work it out like gentlemen.
  5. You are absolutey right TC. Thats why I do what I posted earlier.
  6. Most Contaminants tend to amass in the belly fat on fish. When filleting I usually cut off and discard.
  7. Eating machines so their bodies grow at a fastest pace than their heads.
  8. Yeah got out after 8 and fished til noon. Didnt move a rod.
  9. Just re-spooled new coated cable on my Mag 10 Stx this week end. You need to Strip the cable near spool so that bare cable makes contact with the stainless bulb on spool of rigger itself so that the auto stop works, otherwise you will have to hold the switch to raise the ball.
  10. Lake is setting up nicely. Plenty of bait also. Just need the salmon to arrive. Very few boats out fishing this weekend.
  11. Beautiful day and wheather. Left the little salmon at 4:30 out to 300 and set up by 5. 300 cooper w black evil eye rips with a steelie Some nice screens on fish finder
  12. Use 250# power pro so releases slide out easy. Scotty big releases work great. I use double keeled otters and pull 300' copper along with lead and they work like a charm.
  13. Wow That could easily had a bad ending. Hope you said your prayers and gave much thanks.
  14. You will be fine as the NJ marine police have stated. If your a jersey resident you need a certificate. You will need to get a marine fisheries license though. Be mindful of state waters your in and fish season limits and sizes as they are very diiferent.
  15. Look into track system. Can even get an insert for them when not in use so they look like a step plate.
  16. Get a jock strap!!! They hangin to low. Lol
  17. Doesn't do much for east end fishermen. Bit far to weigh in a fish.
  18. Most important aspect of buying a saltwater boat is how it was cared for. As previously stated flushing and cleaning after use, only takes a few minutes but some dont bother. Be extra careful with boats from jersey shore and LI as there are many that took a drink during Sandy. Owners under insured or not at all still trying to unload them. My current boat was saltwater but have no problems with. Just use care in your purchase.
