  1. Great info Pap, thanks!! These other guys I'm going with have been there before and I think they typically jig for the eyes. I have heard lots of stories from them and I figure it's about time I joined them this year. I'll be bringing my 17' Lund so I'm not sure if I'll risk bringing it up any tight river areas but we'll have the smaller rental boats for the other guys as well so we'll see. Good info on the pike too, I've seen pics of monsters caught outta there and wasn't sure if they'd be deep or not. Ourq weather is looking good temp wise, mid 70s all week but there's gonna be some rain. I think I'd rather have some rain than 90+degrees though anyway. Interesting to hear there's perch and smallmouth there as well, the guys in my group seemed insistent it was only walleye, pike, and white fish (whatever that is..) I'm told we will eat very well that week! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I am heading out on a family trip Friday to fish Poutrincourt Quebec for a week. I've never been to Quebec but luckily the rest of my group has fished here over the years and always do extremely well with walleyes. Last time they went a couple years ago their numbers were over 300 for the week, and these are guys who don't fish a whole lot... Has anyone else been to this lake? 3. Yeah sometimes they want a painfully slow top water presentation. I have way more patience with it from shore than when I'm on my boat. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Nice fish, but really I'm staring at that Lund Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Spent this past early spring practicing flipping docks and although I don't care for rock bass much, they made for good practice just to get a feel for a subtle jig bite Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Sweet. Gotta love a top water bite, and also having the lake to yourselves. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. My Dad had his props to his Chris Craft fixed up there at the one in Canandaigua and he was very happy. This was after going to a guy in Sodus Point he wasn't too thrilled with... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Those freakin' blowtards again... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. The lake was roaring this morning with that north wind. By about 3pm I couldn't believe how much it settled down. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Last weekend around Little Sodus Bay they weren't hanging out very shallow like they were most weeks prior, even with the water temp staying consistent around 70-72 for the past few weeks. Didn't even get any around docks either... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. I'm not the most experienced lake fisherman, but I don't think the Lake O smallie fishing is "dead"...I got easy double digits on Saturday until I couldn't stand the heat. There was also a tournament saturday possibly from outta town (not the Arcadia club tournament) and I was told from one of those guys that the biggest fish weighed in were smallies from the lake in the 4-5lb range. No wonder 10 bass boats right at 5:30 blasted into the lake. This is also aside from my first early spring outtings this year. Smallies crushing crankbaits in the bays near shore. Most over 4lb, my biggest right at 5lb even. Again, I'm not the most experienced fisherman, and this is my first full season with my boat, primarily bass fishing. I don't have fancy electronics, just a cheap 2D sonar/GPS unit which I hardly use aside for depth/water temp. Long story short, the smallies aren't all dead. 12. Fished anywhere from 8-12 FOW, seeking out boulders and just casting right at them Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. I bass fish further east every weekend. The bays were crap for me this weekend, but the lake made up for it. It was more so quantity over quality though with most smallies in the 2lb range. They were hitting anything drop shotted - robo worms, live worms, those yamamoto drop shot minnows (can't remember the name..) When in doubt, head east... 14. Hopefully they are getting that huge from gorging on gobies Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. I was out all weekend, Saturday was garbage for bass - picked up a couple sorta decent ones but mostly little ones and way too many rock bass. Sunday I got cabin fever with the rain so I went out at 12:30 and ended up fishing til 7:30 as the action was the complete opposite of Saturday. 16. Awesome Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Did good in the bay, lots of medium sized bass enough to keep my attention, plus some in spots I've never had luck before. Is it just me or does the weather forecast always seem pretty off for Fair Haven? All week I was told by AccuWeather rain on saturday, high winds and rain on Sunday and a high of 55 or so. Turned out the complete opposite... Looking forward to this weekend, though I assume the bay will be a zoo. I've gotten too used to being one of only a few boats out Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Bump, willing to take offers or trade for bass stuff Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Selling a Yakima kayak rack I used on the roof of my car for one season. Very solid and stable. See the more detailed Craigslist ad if interested. http://rochester.craigslist.org/spo/5586481227.html Also it might be easier to reach me through there as it goes straight to my email. Sometimes private messages slip through the cracks on this ap. Thanks ! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Yeah sweet smallies. I remember last early July the bowfins were everywhere in Meadow Cove and the south end, and they like spinnerbaits. Had no idea what they were and had to google it. Got into a couple that luckily fell off right at the boat so I didn't have to haul them in, lol. They are weird looking fish, but pretty cool they are an ancient species. 21. Was out fishing the bay Saturday and today, it was considerably slower than last weekend. Bunch of smaller bass and pike, but one 5lb smallie today....with only one eye, at that. That was pretty cool, and I do believe my personal best smallmouth. I know I'm giving bass reports to trolling guys who could probably care less but I just like talking about Fair Haven, lol.. 22. I think Interstate will knock $10 off if you bring in an old battery with a new battery purchase. Not sure though if this is only for people with an account with them... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I bought a travel cover for my 17' Lund Rebel from iboats.com or whatever. Paid around 350 for the one that wasn't the highest end but better than middle of the road. It pretty much sucks as far as fit is concerned. You'd think if a company is making a cover for your specific model boat then they'd take into consideration that a trolling motor comes standard on practically every Lund. So my cover doesn't fit over the trolling motor properly. It's also pretty baggy at the corners of the stern/transom. I bungee it down and make it work fine, but I'll never buy another cover from them again. I contacted them and they wanted me to send it back, then they stopped answering my questions and it pretty much got swept under the rug. To be fair it's about as much of my fault as it is theirs since I didn't just send it back. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Thanks for this thread, I just found and read the whole thing. I bought my first boat last year, a very lightly used 2010 17' Lund. Tracker was high up on my list, but the horror stories of hull problems resonated in me a bit too much to feel comfortable getting a used one. In the end I could've bought a new Tracker for what I spent on the used Lund but I don't regret it. Sorry to hear of this frustrating experience. How has it been so far this season? Also......that's a sweet looking rig, I must say. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Interesting. Thanks for the info. I used to fish with a guy when I was a young kid on Sodus Bay and he'd hammer walleye all summer. I managed a few with him back then, but never tried or heard much of them since then, and this was about 15 or so years ago. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
