And thats your opinion . A lot of data and facts saying the other . What's the death toll by itself with no other contributing factor such as obesity etc? It's pretty low . Maybe we should be more diligent about banning fast food and Twinkies . If you stuff you face with this garbage , and wash it down with a 6 pack and smoke a cigarette and are unhealthy , it puts you at huge risk if you contract it . That's on you . I hear that there is a Bill in congress to slash all public employees pensions and health care workers pay and benefits by half to fund the extra unemployment that is needed . I'm sure they will be all for it to pitch in to share the burden . I'll take my chances , there are no guarantees in life .

There are a lot of people going broke and will take a decade or more to financially recover from this.look at all the business going under . What gets me most is there are people who are working and getting paid telling people they can't work . If these same people were faced with losing everything and bankruptcy, they might feel differently . So IMO , it time to open stuff up and go for it . If you are young and in reasonably good health , you don't have much to worry about . And yes some people will die. And anyone who doesn't see this is a political football is blind , respectfully .

6hp Johnson Seahorse idles but not full speed
HB2 replied to WeeIrishRascal's topic in This Old Boat
All fuel now unless specified at the pump has 10 % ethanol in it . The ethanol attracts water . Worse than that it's caustic and will break down the rubber components of older engines and tanks not made to take it. Anything that disintegrates , get dissolved and pushed thru the carb. It causes all kinds of problems . Look for stations that offer non ethanol gas . -
You definitely want to get out very early and late for staggers . I find it slows way down after the first 2 hrs , USUALLY ,and just before dark they turn on . . Sometimes it's good all day ,especially if it is choppy or cloudy and raining .

J plugs are pretty much all I run now till the end of the season. But maybe not this year as I have testing to do . I have 30# and put 25 ft of 15 or 20# on . Tie direct to the j plug , no swivels . I use #3 ,#4 size . I have 2 riggers on my small boat and run 1 rod on each . That's it . All I need . First light in close 12 to 20 ft depth , setback both same of 50 to 75 ft . One Ball 10 ft off bottom on one half way down on other . Ball may be just under surface . Deeper , setback of 35 ft . I know the plugs dive 7 ft in 35 ft . And the fish like to sit on the bottom when Sun comes up . Mid day I have run them back 150 ft to get a hit and it works sometime . Colors ... sliver bullet , w/ w/o red head , glow green florescent , white black dot ( first light killer ) watermelon , and there are others . It's a misnomer that they need to be run fast . I get fish going slow with them also so vary your speed and turn a lot .

New(to me) boat - what would you look for? 10-13k range

I have a 21 hardtop I/O . Very Seaworthy, comfortable boat .love the hardtop. Great boat for 3 men , a little crowded 4 but good . No boat does everything well . That's why I have 3 . My wife says who has 3 boats ? I tell her I could have 3 girlfriends . I have seen a lot of nice 19 to 21 aluminum / outboards that look very fishable .But if it's strictly Salmon , it hard to beat the weight of fiberglass IMO. If you are going to keep it docked , a 24 is not to big . But again, stringer/ transom rot , lower unit/ engine rebuilds are not cheap , and it could nickle and dime you in that price range . Just be ready/ prepared for that . -

And NEVER use ethanol fuel in older outboard motors . EVER . -
So my neighbor is a Rochester city officer . She is on the front lines with the face shield and night stick pushing back "peacefull protesters" . She tells my wife the other night she had a commercial fireworks go off a few feet from her and has powder burns , has things thrown at her , people screaming in her face calling her everything in the book . Her eyes burn from pepper spray they have to use . She has been out there since the beginning of all this .And it has been he'll. I tell my wife we have to do something for her . We get her a 12 pack of local craft brew , my wife bakes her something and we go over this morning . Bang on the door and her family is there . I say we want you to have this for all the BS crap you have been taking and we support you and are gratefull for you, appreciate you , and keep your head up . She breaks down in my wife's arms. Wasn't expecting that .Said it is tough because they revive no support from the Mayor ,etc . Occasionally people thank them . She feels torn between her young family and kids and her brothers and sisters on the force who are exhausted . So if you know someone and love someone , even if you don't , let them know . Tell them we are out here and appreciate what they are doing . And to keep their head up . They need to hear it . As I found out today .

We use to go next weekend annually with the boys for years . We have run into some bad weather / wind/ rain. Woke up one morning to skim ice in the puddles . So we moved it up to 3rd weekend in Aug because THEY are turning into geriatrics. But the pike fishing was way better later and we still did a lot of bass . I would take the boat only for comfort and safety in the wind I love to fish for pike up there casting #5 Mepps or spinner baits over submerged weed beds and jig for bass on weed edges and drop offs . Bass first light , drift over weed beds for pike mid day . WIRE LEADER !! HAVE FUN ! Good breakfast at Blue moon or Lumberjack . But you should know that .

Days like that make you appreciate the good ones It use to bother me bad but I learned its part of it . A lot of tackle shops made a butt load of Money off me after days like today .:-)

Help wanted.. 1996 60 horse johnson running rough won't go over 7 mph

If it has the same ignition system as mine and a lot of others I know had similar problems , i would say it is that . Those motors are notorious for that . My guess , the spark box . A 96 is not that old if it doesn't have a lot of hrs on it . I screwed around with mine for a long time and then sold it . Might not be a bad investment to bring it to someone who knows . -
First time out in a while Put out 4 flashers . Started in 40 and worked out to 140 One hit 55 down . First skunk of the year. Rough seas , so we called it at 8 Was a good year . Pulling the big boat tommorow . Then it's Small Boatin`!!

I could buy the best golf clubs made and Tiger woods could beat me with bat and a shovel . I have learned my rods ,reels , ,baits ,boats etc are tools to catch fish. And cheap tools in a master craftsmans hands will have better results than the best stuff with someone that does not know what they are doing . I wanted to build a 10 ft skein rod . Priced it and it was like 190$ went to Dicks and got a Wright Magill for 50$ and it's perfect . And here comes the big BUT.... If I had all the time and money in the world , I would give all my rods away and build all new. That would amount to probably 50 rods .

If that motor has 3 carbs like my old 55 Johnson it could be a few issues The rich / lean screws are in to far and it won't switch over from the adjustable low speed to the non adjustable high speed. Or clogged jets . Mightily be running on one cylinder because of a carburetor Bad coil. or spark amplifier . But if it was, running good before you got new gas , I would say fuel or carbs . But what do I know ? -

I have built about 40 rods in my lifetime Many 35 years ago . You could not get good light line steelhead drift rods . Now you can get anything you want . I keep saying I'm going to do another but I go to the store and can get a decent rod for 1/4 of the price . For bass / pike the rods of today are far superior to what use to be .The rod we spent 75$ for back then We can buy for 20$ Fly rods have come light years. you can get a good rod for 100$ I feel I'm a good enough fisherman that I don't need the best . In fact I get a lot of satisfaction catching fish on a rod I got off the sale rack for 9$ . But I had fun building and still using some .

I use 11" paddles on my riggers and 8 " spin Dr and pro trolls on my dipsys . They both work equally well .

Fresh back from 4 days at my happy place in the mountains . Great weather but it rained hard twice . Fishing was good but not great. Nice bass but only a few pike . 3 And 4 " Senco style black and green pumpkin were good but a 4 " Hula grub was, best . Pike took #5 mepps gold or black fury black bucktail . We ate well and drank a lot of beer . Good times, with my bestus friends . On the way home my friend had a,blow out on his trailer on a curve and side swiped a telephone pole with the boat and totaled it,. I saw it in my rear view, mirror and it could have been real bad . So we,are looking for an older aluminium 16 to 18 ft project boat only .
