  1. I am impressed with the role that the male bass plays in protecting the nest. I knew that but seeing it so vividly in action is great. There is a lot of politics in the setting of Fish and Game laws unfortunately. Look at the whole issue of "antler restrictions" for a classic example of the politicians trying to over ride the DEC and force a law on the general population. Bass fishing is big business and has a huge lobby of organizations and businesses behind them to drive laws like catch and release. I do not know the history of the regulation change but after seeing this video I certainly smell something and it is coming from down by Albany. This video should be used as argument #1 in repealing C&R regs.
  2. Outstanding video. Thanks for sharing it. I wonder how much time would have to pass for the bottom fry to get large enough to avoid the gobies?
  3. Great pics. You had a fun week and took some real good eyes. 30+ inches is the best I have heard from Oneida Lake. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Nice fish pikefreak. Looks like SP in the background. The new record fish from the St. Lawrence River on opening day had not spawned.
  5. Congratulations cdq on the successful egg hatch and to all of the students who participated in this class!! Hopefully this class can become an annual event that builds on the learning from this year and supplements future walleye stocking. I wonder what the fry survival rate will be for those you released?
  6. Thanks Lucky13. I will hope they are reproducing. Honeoye gets no natural production which triggered my question on Conesus. If the pike are successful you would think that eyes should be. All fish are unique in some ways. Maybe I will ask someone at region 8 sometime. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Was wondering if the eyes that run up the inlet are actually reproducing or are they just going through their instinctive spawning run without any results? Anyone know if the yield any offspring. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Thanks, my daughter and I went to see the hatchery open house today. We saw the 3 cylinders of eggs. We got there late just as things were winding down. Very nice! Hope they hatch. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Is there any natural reproduction in Honeoye? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Hi Esox AC3, I was puzzled by the same empty stomach observation this summer. An SLR eye, 2 big smallie and a 10 pound northern (finger lakes) all had completely empty digestive tracts. All healthy fish. I think they can go quite a long time without eating. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Congratulations Prof T. Those are a couple of beautiful Walleye. Memorable evening for sure to do that with long time fishing buddies. Thanks for sharing. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Thanks for sharing this great outing with us. Congratulations on a super day. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Great pictures. Very nice walleye and bass! Way to go.
  14. Planning to be at Owasco for a week beginning 8/13 with the family... what depth range would you guys recommend trolling to try and pick up a rainbow? I have dipsy divers size 1 and am new to using them. I will be fishing the north end most of the time down to Burtis or a little further. Any particular lures working well? Thanks guys.
  15. Great pictures Kevin. What a blessing. Nice catch too. Our first grandchild (grandson) was born May 12th. Can't wait until he is old enough to fish. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Take a look at Oneida Shores County Park, they have a launch and 50 camp sites.
  17. Beautiful evening. Great clouds behind you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Very nice EsoxAC3. What did she bite on? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Good luck. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Hi Erie eye... About how deep are the eyes that you have been getting? Are you fishing only at night or have you had any success in daylight. Thanks.
  21. Good idea, I usually motor down there in the summer for bait / gas when we are renting. It will save the extra drive time if the north end is usable.
  22. Thanks guys. I may trailer over and fish later this week but wanted to confirm it is operational first.
  23. Owasco Lake Emerson Launch status? How is the boat launch repair work and water level at the North end launch? Is it open and manageable? Thanks in advance for any updates.
  24. Just a quick follow-up to let everyone know that the Navionics+ EA (eastern addition) sonar charts of the St. Lawrence River for the areas I mentioned above (see screen shots) have now been updated by Navionics and are available for download & update to your micro SD card. I received an email from Navionics customer support yesterday letting me know that the improvements had been completed and were available. I just downloaded the updated area to my chip and the detail is now there. Note: The mobile app and web version sonar charts were always complete. This was for the chip only.
