  1. The Mag 10A riggers I had were the same way as yours... you had to hold the switch up the whole time to reel them in, so there is nothing wrong with your riggers. Those round motors on the 10A aren't made anymore so if one dies you will never find a replacement for it. I ended up selling my 10As and picking up some Mag10s. The Mag 10 motors aren't cheap but you can still buy them new if something goes wrong. It may require more than just a new switch to achieve what you are looking for though. The Mag 10s I had and the Mag 5HS I currently have don't use an constant on switch, you hit "up" on the switch (the switch then falls right back to the "neutral" position) but that engages the auto-stop feature. That reels in the line until the cable breaks the surface of the water which disconnects the circuit and stops the rigger.
  2. They took the sign down on the road going to the Mexico launch prolly 3 weeks ago now. If it's still active in Mexico nobody was abiding by it when I was out there Sunday.
  3. I don’t ever get that far west sorry price drop!
  4. These came with a boat I bought, all seem to work fine. No shipping on these and I’d like to sell them in matching pairs if possible. Pickup in Rome or Mexico. They are all matching Cabelas depthmaster 2 rod/reel combos, the 45 reels have unknown amount of leadcore on them. All the reels are linecounters. (2) 20 size reel 8’M downrigger rods (2) 20 size reel 9’M dipsey rods (2) 45 size reel 6’6M leadcore rods $40 per combo
  5. If it is truly a 20" shaft that is considered a long shaft motor... 15" is short, 20" is long and 25" is xtra long. You may scare away buyers by saying "short shaft" when it is actually a long shaft... just FYI
  6. Still not 100% sure what you're saying. Something about segmenting a wire dipsey? Nobody does that just FYI. You would add segments of mono to be able to attach something like leadcore/copper to a planer board. You wouldn't do that on a wire dispey setup though...
  7. More than likely all lakers, I've fished the trench a few times and caught lakers on flasher/fly combos there. Odds are your speed wasn't right or they just weren't hungry. Sunday in Mexico we trolled threw prolly 50+ marks in the 50-60ft range with riggers at 50 & 60 and couldn't move a rod. Sometimes they just don't want what you're offering.
  8. I use fire-brine natural.... usually leave it in the brine for atleast 24hrs after I cut them. I add just enough brine to completely cover the strips. I've also brought home unused strips put them back in the freezer and used them again the next weekend with good results.
  9. 200 fow is prolly somewhere 3-4 miles out. Been out that deep plenty times in my old 18ft boat, just have to pick the right day. No bait shops in Mexico but there are several in Pulaski which is a 10 drive (in a truck) from Mexico launch.
  10. yeah I bought just the fall "season" pass. The rule make sense for those buying day passes but it didn't specifically say the rule was just for the day pass. Figured it was safer to ask here then drive 30 mins out of my way to a weigh-station and find out there.
  11. If I buy a "season" pass for the fall derby do I need to stop someplace and register each day before I fish?
  12. I was just going to say the samething. We use it occasionally on Oneida for walleyes, I have personally caught several fish doing it and it is a blast. It gets old very quick though if you aren't catching fish.
  13. As a younger engineer I def appreciate the sketching too. I missed out on the hand drafting era, everything I do and have ever done has been in CAD. Prolly a good thing for me because my lettering would be terrible compared to yours! Either way it’s cool to see it laid out like that!
  14. Haha wow... only in NY! "Hey here is this new law that you're required to follow! And if you don't... there's no penalty whatsoever! P.S. Thanks for your tax dollars we spent coming up with this brilliant new law"
  15. The original law that was in place before this one allowed you to be grandfathered in if you were born after a certain year. They basically re-vamped the law to include everyone now. By 2025 everyone who drives a boat will have had to take a boaters safety course.
  16. I checked my card for the jet ski course I took, it doesn't say anything about being specifically for jet skis. It is just called "NYS Boater's Safety Course", so I'm gonna assume that it is the same course.
  17. Bought this motor brand new last spring, hours are well under 50 if I had to guess. Its a 4 stroke, long shaft, manual start, manual tilt, no charging motor (can be added though). I have a uninstalled controlking remote throttle unit included as well as a 4 blade hi-thrust prop and original unused 3 blade prop. Factory 3.3 gal tank and hose included. I paid close to $2k delivered for this last spring asking $1300, located in Rome, NY.
