  1. I started the same way several years ago on my small (17') boat. I had an older Humminbird FF with an inaccurate paddle wheel. I took my older Garmin car GPS that mounted to the windshield of my boat, and it had an internal battery that lasted about 6 hrs. Got me pretty close, enough to catch fish.
  2. Upgraded from a 12' to a 14' aluminum boat, need a bigger motor for the 14'. Doesn't need to be electric start or have alternator, but if it does that's just a plus... See pics, I have a very nice 1984 Johnson 8HP short shaft I am willing to trade as part of the deal, if someone is looking for a small outboard.
  3. Glad you got it fixed. I just got done fooling around with my Mercruiser trim system, found a loose wire from the fuse to the trim motor...All working ok now. But they can be a pain in the butt...
  4. I bought a 12" piece of track, cut it in half and drilled some beveled/chamfered holes in it so i could use both pieces with 4 screws...I got the beveled bit set at Harbor Freight for $10, less than the cost of an extra piece of track. Worked great!
  5. I love those hook jaws...I think it's the German variant of the brown trout but I am not sure...They always look surprised!
  6. I was looking at my slip at Mayers in I Bay today, I could stand in the water and I bet it wouldnt reach my knees...
  7. Beautiful morning on the water, launched at Mayer's and snuck under the swing bridge...Went 10 for 13 on browns, chartreuse and white bay rats/rapalas on long lines were the best producers. We found that 36 degree water just inside the mud line and followed it east and west, hooking up in both directions. Anywhere from 11 to 20 FOW they were active.
  8. Ended up with this butterfly plate, after re-purposing the rod holders from it for a different project. Only have the one, so if you can use it PM me for a front porch pickup. I live in Webster NY. Mike
  9. My son and I do an annual ice fishing trip to the Adirondacks, usually fishing smaller ponds and lakes. This year we learned how to catch lakers through the ice on Champlain, it was a lot of fun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iz2lDZBB8Iw
  10. Is the screen wavy when powered up? How many hours has it been used? I have heard this happens to these with age...Thanks,
  11. Thanks...On the positive side that gives me a whole year to save up more $$$$!!!
  12. I am assuming yes, because its usually the 2nd Saturday in March... Anyone doing anything on line?
  13. Looking for a used TrollMaster or ControllKing for my 2012 Tohatsu 6hp kicker. If you have upgraded and have an older model I am interested. Thansk!
  14. I switched from Humminbird to Garmin, very satisfied. Does everything I want it to, and nothing I don't... Still like my Lowrance for my ice fishing rig set up as a flasher, but wouldn't put it on my boat.
  15. I just switched to a 4-stroke kicker this past summer, so I am looking to add a second fuel line from my fuel/water separator on my I/O to my kicker. Also going to add either an iTroll, Trollmaster or ControllKing to the kicker for more precise speed control.
  16. I fish Champlain every summer, have family in the Port Henry NY area...Usually out of Westport or Port Henry launches. Great perch fishing just south of Westport! I have also ice fished on the VT side from the launch just over the NY-VT bridge on the VT side, and farther up north in Button Bay. Lake Champlain is more well known for bass now, but there's still nice lakers and Atlantics there too, plus you never get 3-5 footers like on the big O!
  17. 2 older props for Mercruiser Alpha 1 or pre-Alpha drives, both 15T spline and 4 3/4" gearcase, RH rotation. One 16X16P ok for a spare, few dings. One 15X21P, prop in good condition, just could use a coat of paint. Just sitting in my garage, I seem to have accumulated about 5 props for my boat, so I don't need these 2. Covid-free front porch pickup in Webster only, no shipping or delivery...
