  1. Pm sent Sent from my SM-G998U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Drop your probe down a foot or so and see how the speed compares to your GPS. You can see if they are close but most likely it will be different at deeper depths. Also there is a guy in Buffalo that can calibrate your probe. Believe his business is big blue enterprises
  3. Fished evening of 23, 24 and 25th. Had friends fishing from 65 to 130 fow and they did well. Seemed like most of the boats were working inside. We worked that water a little with no success so headed offshore. Got into them from 275 to 350 fow. With best water around 330. Steelhead and kings. All sizes from not much bigger than a mag spoon to our best king that was over 20 lbs. Mostly teenage kings in the 8 to 12 lb range but several high teens, with some nice steelhead. Biggest fish came on 300 copper and 10 color core with a 3 oz snap weight. Both with meat rigs and uv paddles. Wire diver parked at 175 with meat did well. Riggers at 60 and 80 with free sliders took fish. Ran some mag spoons but no takers. Best regular size spoons were uv 2 face, uv green dot, uv beef eater, rod father, and 3 days at sea. Flasher/flies were not very productive taking only 2 steelhead. Sent from my SM-G998U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Looking for a replacement auto stop for a Big Jon Captains Pack downrigger. Sent from my SM-G998U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. The Oak is a good choice but the lake can be inhospitable to any boat at any port you launch from. Being in a smaller boat, you just have to watch forecast and wind and use common sense.
  6. Tenature Boy, I just sent u a pm. I will be in Wilson same dates.
  7. Does this come with the motor mounts and attachment hardware? Sent from my SM-G998U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Do you make the discs? Have a couple Daiwa GL 47s and 47 S and SH that no one can get parts for. Can you do anything with them? Sent from my SM-G998U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Check with Fish USA. They may have a motor. I replaced one of mine with a cisco motor. Stronger, faster and cheaper. About an hr job. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Here is a pic of a loaded rod. Even more is better. You may not be able to achieve this with a pinch pad type release. A blacks release is inexpensive and the tension can be adjusted. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. While experience will teach you to read your downspeed by the cable angle of your rigger, you can shorten the learning curve with a speed/temp system such as a Fish Hawk or Moor Subtroll. While a Fishhawk is expensive, used Moors come up for sale on this site on occasion. The down speed at the weight can greatly differ from surface speed. Also a drift sock (relatively cheap) can slow your speed down. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Running 2 rods off of one rigger can be done, but perhaps a better option would be to run a slider, either free or fixed off the line of a single rod. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Are your rigger booms rated for 12 lbs. The bouncing could be from the booms bouncing. Shorter booms could help with this. Are you using rubber bands on your releases? Are you loading the rods? Really crank a deep arch into them. Also while its good to run the weights above your marks, stagger your depths unless you are seeing a pattern at a certain depth. You will find that a lot of fish you catch wont show on your sonar, especially with longer leads on your riggers. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I run 30 lb power pro and 7 strand wire with the deeper divers. They are close to the charts with the wire running only slightly deeper. On any given day depths may vary with current and speed. F/F will run different than spoons as well. I usually run a 124 mm on 1 setting inside rods and a slide diver or 107mm on a 3 on outside rods. Starboard I usually run deeper than port side and keep adjusting till I find a depth thats working. When u find a depth thats consistently working then you can adjust the other rods Good luck! 15. The 8'6" Daiwa ft at Fish USA have nice lite action. I use them for walleye. I have landed salmon on them as well but they are a little flimsy for that. Nice price too Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Lake View motel is just west of Wilson. Rooms, cottages, cabins, very nice. Good people. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I had one. Keep in mind that will still only show surface speed. At least you would have a reference point so you could reproduce speed but you can do that on your gps. Down speed and surface speed can widely vary. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. If you can't get it working you can send it to Big Blue Enterprises in Buffalo. They can recalibrate it. I had mine done earlier this yr. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Looks like its off a Moor subtroll 900 Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Its as good as any other copper. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. I fished out of Wilson but most of our fish came east between Olcott and Wilson Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. We did manage to put 5 coho and 4 kings in the boat and dropped a couple kings but they all had empty stomachs. Go figure Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Saw it. We had plastic in rigger cables and divers. Fished around it but our fish came from deeper water. Lot of weeds too. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Certainly was a grind. Fished between Wilson and Olcott. Roasted Friday for 10 hrs. with 12 bites. Boated 5 coho, 2 kings, and lost two kings at back of the boat. Mostly spoon bite, from 30 ft to 85 ft down over 170 to 220 fow but biggest ho (about 9 lbs.) came on a two face spinny with green fly on a 300 copper. Absolutely no pattern at all. fish were scattered. No marks. Fish had almost empty stomachs. Saturday. Being cloudy, would have thought it would pick up. 4 bites from 6 am till 2 pm when it got a little rough. 3 hos and 1 king on a carbon 14, which we we broke off in a rigger cable. Spoons, with one on a pink maglip on a 3 color core. We tried to cover all water columns. Ran meat 80 to 110 down and it never took a shot. Very few marks, decent bait balls 70 to 90 fow. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Stealth presentations help. Run longer leads on your riggers and try to find your own water away from the pack if u can. Also we slammed the coho last weekend on 5 color core off inlines. Good luck. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
