On Saturday and Sunday I trailered my boat 2.5 hrs from Oswego to Oclott. Limited out both days in 3-4 hrs on Kings and Steelhead.

Fished 12 hrs today for 2. But I do know some of the charter guys have been doing ok.

We had a better day today. Three Kings on one flasher fly rig and a king and 1 steel head on spoons. Largest King was 17.5 smallest was 8. 3 meat rigs went untouched all day.

I came for 6 days to try for a few kings. We have landed a few but from most reports the bite has been very slow. We did land one on Saturday that was 26.35 lbs. 4 kings has been our best day and today we only landed one and took two other hits that did not get a good hook set. I may trailer the boat to a different port the next couple of days. The majority of my hits are coming from a east or south troll. Without a Fish Hawk I may not have my speed dialed in. Also, I have been running high wire, low wire and riggers. I have not had a hit on the flasher flies so I took them off and added two more meat rigs. I went dead for many hours without a strike until I put one back on my high wire.

Seems like they are not biting as good now from what I am seeing and hearing.

I dont think holding a heavy fish from the bottom jaw is a good idea at all. Grab the tail tightly and cradle under the head/gill area. Not putting fingers in the gills. Use the boga to pull the fish through the water maybe but dont hold the fish up by the jaw.

I have thought the same thing for years. We were on a charter a couple of years ago. My buddy landed a med king and told the mate to let it go. The Capt nearly fell overboard.

I have been planning on doing a trip to LO before now but the action seemed slow. From the guys I have spoken to from Henderson to Oswego it seems like the action is picking up a bit from what it has been. I am considering making my first trip of the season Thursday-Monday of this week.

A buddy of mine from Maine is fishing out of Oswego this week. Yesterday he landed two kings 22 and 14. Today he landed this 26 lb. He seems to be getting them on different baits nothing specific. He is only running 3 rods out of his 16’ boat. Not bad for only being his third trip on the big water

Seems like they should put as much effort in bilge water from shipping vessels entering the Great Lakes

I looked around on the web but I could not find any lure stickers in watermelon. I have a bunch of lures that have not been producing so I would like to change them like the ones in these two pictures. Any idea where I can buy some?

Super, maybe others do use smelt in their meat rigs I have just never read about it or herd of it. As you may or may not know sewn smelt is the best option here in New England for big Atlantics, brookies and lakers. Seems like a great option for the meat rigs
