  1. Maybe next year will be epic with all the 2-3 being 3-4 next year.
  2. KD tournament in WI I believe the top 10 were all 30lb and up. In MI a one day tournament this weekend, biggest king was 34lb I believe. They are also have the quantity like lake O this year. Not too long ago kings were small and limited in number. Might be worth looking at their approach as of late
  3. I think you catch bigger fish on plugs year around from my experience. I think it depends on quantity vs quality but I have a plug out most of them time year round. I took a couple decades off salmon to pursue Muskie and having come back to salmon I am still finding they like big baits.
  4. Our largest king, 42lbs came on a larger plug behind a dipsey, but has been awhile. We also took our largest Lake Michigan kings on j plugs behind dodgers, sometimes being a bit different gets you difficult fish. Heck they use spin n glow for kings in Alaska.
  5. The system is $1479, additional probes $599. This is from FB, so who knows if accurate.
  6. Open to offers. Thanks
  7. It basically the best of the other two products in one that appears to be simple to use. From two established companies, I am really looking forward to learning more.
  8. If cost is right, that is a game changer, no transducer or head unit.
  9. Yes either works. They are not line counters though.
  10. These are not line counters. New in box, $300 for both shipped in US. Thanks
  11. Like new with updated drag and fresh service. $200.00 for both shipped in US.
  12. Bloodrun 30lb says it breaks at over 40lb. Big game 30lb is a 50lb IGFA line class, so there isn’t likely as big of difference.
  13. What do inexperienced anglers do to break 25lb line? If you went to 50lb leader wouldn’t they just break the 30lb wire then?
  14. It is used a bunch in other Great Lakes to avoid cranking 400 - 600 feet of copper
  15. Having a smaller boat back in the day we consistently took larger kings is far too warm of water for the typical comfort zone but it was better than not fishing. So I do believe plenty stay in warmer water all year.
  16. You caught your limit back then as well just the fish were much bigger. Giant kings and steelhead. You didn’t have to know what you were doing either, I was able to catch them:-) you had quality and quantity.
  17. Bit of 40lb nostalgia, going through older photos from our Lake O trips. It is a different experience. I am personally a quality vs quantity person. I do understand the draw of numbers though. I netted a bunch of big kings but personally only caught a 28lb for my best. We will see, maybe I can get a 30 someday.
  18. Hi, I have some I could let go. Any colors you are looking for? None have been run but I have too many. I would be shipping as I am in Colorado. Thanks.
  19. Obviously not scientific but looking at old photos of larger kings we caught , many were pretty far into to color change in mid July. I also noticed this on larger kings from Lake Michigan we got back in the day as well.
  20. There is something a large king brings that prompted a guy I know to proclaim it is better than fun loving. Mid teen fish don’t do that. Fishing is fun, catching a mature king is different. I think it is probably cyclical and good days are ahead. For the next few years I am taking the shorter drive to WI. We have teenage fish pretty close in Lake Oahe to Colorado. I have the greatest memories of Lake O when a rod released you had no idea how big the fish might be. Now you probably know how big it is at the end of a 400 copper.
  21. We didn’t work hard back in the day. We drove out to fish 5 days every July from Chicago in the 90’s. 4 downriggers with 12lb mono for spoons, 17lb for dodger /fly and limits of big kings and steelhead. today there is wire, copper, fleas…..different game.
