Fish biting while line wrapped around finger setting blacks or similar release?

Was curious if fish have hit during this process. Back in the day I recall  jplugs getting bit before line went into the release. Work be no fun to have finger wrapped in 30lb line when a king hits:-)

I have had this happen with both steelhead and cohos. No worries i still have all my fingers afterwards.
