I have a 17.5 ft bow rider. A fairly heavy boat. i fish Georgian Bay for Salmon. i was wondering if I could fish Lake Ontario for Salmon? I am sure if so I would have to find a real calm day, but just looking for advice and feed back as per what winds are good and bad, and how far out to get to the depth? Should wait a couple weeks before they stack up for the run?

Any help or advice would be great.

Cheers

Welcome to the site. Wind direction all depends upon where you're going to fish. A west wind gets the east end of the lake rolling. South wind is great all along the south shore. At the Genny, directly out of the N or NE can be a killer yet S, W & E usually not that bad till you get past 120 FOW. Keep an eye on the weather sites, especially those with wave heights.

Good Luck.

You most certainly can fish on Lake O with a seventeen foot boat. You will have to watch the wind and pick your days or times. How far to the fish is different from each port. I fish Point Breeze some and you usually don't have to go far to find the fish. Give it a shot and have a great trip.
