Stacker release on the Ball

Hey Folks,

I'm new to downrigger fishing and bought a boat fully equiped for it. Attached to one of the balls is a stacker release. I don't understand how you would rig this with 2 lines attached to the ball? wouldn't the lines get tangled?

Any advice would be appreciated.

You clip the swivel around the downrigger cable so you don't lose the release, and attach 1 release clip to the cable at the depth you want, and the other release clip to the line.

i think they lost the release that is supposed to be there and just replaced it with what they had (a stacker) and then sold the boat. dont get confused, it doesnt belong there, the stacker clip was probably floating around with no porpose, get yourself another regular release and use the stacker 10 feet above the ball as sszoldra indicated.

King salmon is 100 percent correct get yourself another release like a blacks release that stacker is for at least 10 -15 ft above the ball. I swear by blacks releases thats all I use.
