Slide Diver Line Size

Used smaller slide divers before and now want to try the size 1. Is 20lb mono strong enough for this big of a disc?

20lb test should be fine. I spooled mine up with about 200' of 30lb ahead of 20lb. I am hoping to minimize fleas this summer if I need them after an upwelling.

Once you get a big mono diver out beyond 160', it's a pain to release... too much belly in the line.

Thanks Hans, I thought of just e mailing you direct....don't think there are too many setups you haven't seen.

As I rigged it last night I had a flashback to my first solo salmon outing. Threw a dipsey out on some woefully light line and watched the dipsey and lure drift away and sink. Just wasn't thinking it through before putting it out.

I bought a couple of the slide divers and would like to try them for the first time. I have used dipsey divers. Currently my reels have braided line on them for the dipsey's and slide divers. I believe that this combination is also good to use, so I've been told. I'll find out this year for myself once I get out and test the slide divers on my super braid.
